Roppongi Tsutaya Books

I am a fan of Starbucks. I had been to Tokyo a long time ago, but this is my first time visiting Roppongi. By coincidence, I walked past Tsutaya, where I discovered a Starbucks that caters to many bookworms, including myself. I was able to enjoy a variety of interesting books while sipping on a drink at the same time. As evening approached, many trees were beautifully decorated with lights, and the crowd of visitors began taking photos, captivated by the city lights along the walkway. These lights celebrate the arrival of the New Year tonight. I think I’ve just found my new favorite landmark.

This review is about the Starbucks reserve not about the bookstore. It’s interesting that they have created the concept of shared lounge at Starbucks. Notice also the sophisticated, Japanese toilette. I recommend visiting the Reserve in NYC to compare

They have one row of English books, if that’s what you are looking for. Overall great bookstore with a place to sit and drink coffee

An aesthetically clean sophisticated location, I had a pleasant shopping experience. The staff was friendly and there are many cool items along with the books.

Wonderful book store carrying magazines and books and more with a great Starbucks and plenty of outdoor seating. Clean restroom available which while walking was a bonus. Had the new melon Starbucks drink which tasted like I was eating a cantaloupe. Sat outside in the beautiful morning sunshine. Great rest stop on my Tokyo morning walks

Great feeling inside. Tax-free book shopping. They sell amazing fragrances as well. Great gift size fragrance oils and parfums. Japanese fragrances. Great selection of books translated to English. Would recommend if you’re into books. Really nice art displayed on first floor too. Lovely coffee within. Really nice place

i'm always pleased by the bookstore in JP that they're not only a book store but could also be a gallery and much more. many books in different aspects, also got art pieces, home decorations and audio-visual equipments. so it's a lifestyle shop.

In March 2020 tsutaya opened after a few months of renovation. It has completely transformed from what it used to be - was great before but now it is even better. Design is modern and dark with hints of Japanese taste. It's lost the DVD section upstairs and now has a high end cafe/ bar called the lounge. The Starbucks inside now has more seats and has a more relaxed feeling about it.

4 stars: Huge fan of the place, but not so much with the seating. Tsutaya Tokyo Roppongi is a cool collaborative space between Tsutaya Bookstore and Starbucks neighbored by Roppongi Hills. Although a lot smaller than its counterpart in Daikanyama, the store is rather large and holds a broad selection of magazines to business books and a smaller section for notebooks and handbooks. Just like Barnes and Nobles in the US, you can grab up to three books that you're interested, and read it without purchase at the Starbucks seat. You'll need to return it of course lol. It appears bigger bookstores in Tokyo are collaborating with cafes to recreate this style. It's a real win-win for both customers and shops The only challenge for Tsutaya Roppongi is that the seats are often so crowded, that it's always a challenge to find seats. I often walk around the block 3 to 4 times before finding one. Now that its getting warmer, perhaps the patio seats might be available (*Note: not sure whether you can take the books outside...) Regardless, Tsutaya Roppongi is one of my favorite environments to work or study or just glance at recent magazines. A recommend if you're in the area!

I love bookstores in Japan. They are very spacious and have lots of stuff to peruse. There wasn't too much stuff in English but that's ok, I can always go home for that. There is a Starbucks on the lower level. Even in the middle of a workday there were lots of people just hanging out around the bookstore. I did see some placards that say that you should purchase a Starbucks coffee before sitting down.

My favorite Tsutaya bookstore. Tsutaya is the largest rental DVD, CD, Game and book store in Japan with over 1,000 stores and 20 million customers nationwide. Has extremely wide selection of international books, magazines, making it great place to browse in between shopping or meeting with friends. Has Starbucks Coffee inside, taking the word convenience to the next level.

One of the nicest places in Tokyo to sit and sip a coffee. It's located at the base of Keyakizaka Dori, just up from Azabujuban Shotengai. You can sit outside if the weather is nice; or inside; feel free to read the magazines without buying them, for as long as you want. Free internet too!
