How to Plan the Perfect Trip to St. Lucia

"Coal Pot is a marina-front Caribbean and French fusion eatery in St. Lucia's capital that has been here for years, a testament to its appeal with locals and visitors alike. You'll also want to visit Coal Pot's sister restaurant, The Pink Plantation, for Creole-inspired dishes in a historic, 150-year-old estate." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. "Builton a deck overlooking the Vigie marina, The Coal Pot is a local favorite that makes a breezy, delightful spot for a lunch or dinner with a view. Named after the traditional methods of island cooking, the restaurant specializes in some of the best seafood on the island, including St. Lucian crab back and traditional saltfish with green fig (banana), as well as steaks, poultry, salads, and soups. Weekday lunches have a fixed three-course option. Reserve ahead for a bayside table: At night, the setting couldn't be more romantic."

So my wife and I had asked the locals which is the best restaurant to go to with food that really pleases the palette and in similar reactions, 90% of them said that we must go to “Coal Pot”. Scratching our heads, the name didn’t sound like a place that would serve good food, but we took the 30 minute journey south along the coast of Saint Lucia to look for this highly recommend restaurant. Upon completing and devouring our food, the wife and I were blessed to have come to such a fabulous family owned and run establishment that leaves your mouth watering for more good food. The son, who is the chef, was fantastic and knows about fine cuisine and definitely hits the mark for realty pleasing the palette. I as well will highly recommend this place for travelers whether by air or sea, definitely come find this spot for some very tasty, and I mean, really tasty food!!!!

Sketchy road coming in but wow! Delicious food and beautiful restaurant. We reserved a waterfront table. I got the tuna and I have dietary restrictions so no butter and no oil and they managed to grill the tuna and use lemon instead!! I thought that was so creative because it tasted sooo good. The Dorado was also super good! There are mosquitos and I denied the bug spray offered because of the smell but I did wake up the next morning with a lot of bug bites, my fault, so use it. The water is gorgeous and there’s a turtle who likes to visit. You can also see crabs. Very dim lighting. Overall recommend trying this restaurant!

The atmosphere was nice. I enjoyed the setting that was created, similar to a Bali inspired theme. The food was also decent. Not amazing, but still enjoyable. I was a bit let down by the level of service and also having some dirty utensils. As a visitor to St. Lucia, I was expecting more, based on feedback from the locals.

The Coal Pot is a great option if you’re looking for a place to eat in Castries. It’s located near George F. L. Charles Airport and Vigie Beach, with a beautiful waterside/marina view. The open, terrace-style seating makes it feel airy and relaxed, and you can really enjoy both the food and the scenery. A lovely spot to unwind.

Had the Dorado with garlic butter sauce and it was amazing. The fish was fresh, tender, and full of flavor with perfect sides. Beautiful waterfront setting with warm lighting and a peaceful breeze. Service was friendly, attentive, and made the evening feel special. 100% recommend The Coal Pot, it’s a must visit.
