"Swimming Along Zurich's Old City Wall This is river swimming at its most civilized. Zurich’s oldest badi, the men-only Männerbad Schanzengraben, is tucked away near the stock exchange and surrounded by the ivy-draped old city wall (you’ll miss it if you don’t look for it). Come evening, the badi transforms into the popular Rimini Bar, where both men and women mingle on floor cushions and rugs lining the pool’s edge."

"Walk Along the Schanzengraben Canal The Limmat River and Lake Zurich might be the showstoppers, but it would be a pity to overlook the charming Schanzengraben Canal. Built as a city fortification system in the 17th century, the canal is now lined with wooden boardwalks and sandstone slabs, and runs from the Gessnerbrücke past the Mannerbadi to the mouth of the lake at Bürkliplatz. It’s at its prettiest near the Baur au Lac hotel, but the action—water polo!—happens near the Selnaubrücke."

Plan a Trip to Zurich This Summer (Yes, Really)

"At Männerbad Schanzengraben, a male-only bath located on the Schanzengraben moat under the Old Botanical Garden, Zurich’s Hasidic men and executives in $5,000 suits strip down for a few laps during lunch hour, called the mittagspause, or “midday pause.”"

Schanzengraben is a former 17th-century defensive moat built as part of the ramparts of Zürich, later converted into a landscaped canal and promenade, with sections now used for public swimming such as the Frauenbad. The name comes from Schanze (German for “fortification” or “earthwork”) and Graben (“ditch” or “moat”).

Love this place. Come for a quick swim during lunch time is such a nice treat! Wish there was a pool like this in Manhattan!!! Water is crystal clear!

Google
Swimming place (male only), one of the classic Zurich river baths. Turns into a trendy bar on summer evenings.

Such a shame that this place is only for men. Hope in the future it will be open for everyone

Nice place to grab some beer after work. Nice quiet environment at the water, but only with good weather as almost all places are located outside. During the day you can swimm there.

This bad is only for men... so be aware. It is free to use and it is great for that work break at lunch when weather is good. It is one of the most popular places for afterwork drinks in summer... the bar is called Rimini and while expensive, it makes you feel as you are in holidays everyday
