Bicycle Habitat

Very helpful and friendly staff, pretty decent discounts, I'm very happy with my purchase (so far). It seems like they know what they're doing. Before I bought a bike, I went to 5 different bike shops. 'Bicycle Habitat' and 'Toga' were the only two shops where I felt like the staff took their time to find the right bike for me and where they answered all my questions and were not just trying to sell me 'something'. And out of the two, Bicycle Habitat had the brand I wanted.

If you're looking for a bike shop to get your bike fixed up—don't look any further. This place is great. 1. Every time I have had small issues with my bike, they adjusted the bike for me free of charge. 2. They helped me save money. When I asked them to tune up my bike, they were very honest and straightforward with what needed to be replaced and what didn't. I asked them whether my brakes needed to be fixed, and they explained to me the best method of determining brake conditions (mine were still good). 3. After they tuned up my bike, it practically felt new. One of my tires had needed to be trued and the rim needed to be adjusted since it was dented, and they fixed it up perfectly. My gears are changing much better than before too. 4. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable—I'd be surprised if you found them disagreeable. Definitely come here.

Had a pretty negative experience here shopping for a new bike. The salesperson I worked with did a lot of telling me what I wanted despite me trying to just be open and honest about my needs. "Oh, you really want disc brakes for the kind of riding you want to do." Actually...I don't...but thanks. I really wanted to have a conversation about options and it just felt like I was being steered toward the most expensive stuff that they had in stock. I'll be shopping elsewhere.

I went in to buy myself a real racing bike and recleved such a good value I bought another bike for my son. Because of large inventory they can provide great selection and extraordinary value. The bikeshop is pretty impressive and the bikes are as good as anywhere. The service is not good at all. I waited a long time to buy some equipment while staff were ignored me and other customers. Two staffmembers, one on the phone doing some business which is understandable and one talking to a friend for about 20 minutes. When I finally got service I saw that what I had selected was mislabeled and they charged more than what they advertised.

I bought a bike here 2yrs ago, but still today I think of how I was misled by the staff here! Yes, it's nice they let you try the bike around the corner before you decide. No, it's not nice they push you a a size bigger frame because they don't have the right frame size in stock. Also, I spent $100+ buying a pinhead locker set which they 'kindly' installed in exchange of keeping the bike's original pins without telling me. To finish off, I think my bike was not new because after 2months of moderate use, I had to replace the break pads... 2 yrs later and I still have the second set of pads on and never had to replace them again. I don't reccommend this shop!

got good service buying a frame but then was charged too way high a price on a high end head set that was the highest price I'd seen anywhere in NYC or on-line. (and then charged triple shipping when double would have been plenty enough). when I remarked about the head set price the clerk gave me some real BS about the price of steel going up. this headset still costs the price it goes for everywhere else 3 years later. such an unnecessary lie to tell. I have been in the bike biz myself for years and was disappointed to get this treatment. a lot of the service and products here are good though.

The worst customer service ever. I never felt more miserable in my life. First I was waiting for a 5 min until someone talked to me. I needed a derailleur adjustment. The guy didn't even put 1 min into it and told me that my bike is a piece of junk and he can't do anything about it. Everything on it is cheap and not worth the time. That didn't stop him to change me for his precious minute. I'm sorry Mr. "Dread head" I don't have 5000$ bike so you can talk to me. Why don't you first look yourself in the mirror and then judge my bike. You guys really have to change your attitude towards your customers !!!!!
