On the Grid : Cinema Ideal

"It is the oldest movie theater in Lisbon and has had several names. It was even an adult movie theater at some point. Today, after a major refurbishment, it is part of the mandatory itinerary for lovers of the seventh art. The establishment also has a nice cafeteria and bookstore." - Musa WorkLab

Run down place and uncomfortable chairs..Incredible rude and arrogant staff..Prices not justified. No wonder nobody seems to want to go there..

It’s very downtown but it’s very small and the chairs, for a marathon specially (of movies) is really uncomfortable also the sound is not great The service is amazing

Worst theater ever! Tried to see Spike Lee’s Black Klansman, and they would not let me in. The film was on several minutes into the showing but because they were more concerned with closing their registers they would not sell me a ticket. I would recommend to anyone considering this cinema to consider the many other options. Their commitment to customer satisfaction and customer service seems to be at an all time low!

I absolutely love this independent cinema and proudly support it. It’s a unique place that always offers a rich and diverse selection of high-quality arthouse and independent films. Every visit is a true cinematic experience, showcasing original works that are often underrated but always impactful. This cinema has soul, far removed from the impersonal feel of multiplexes. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, and the passionate staff make every screening special. If you enjoy films that break away from the mainstream, this is the place for you. Highly recommended!

Cinema Ideal is a great cinema, where we can/see find good movies, that many times are not available in those big cinemas multiplexes.. Which I dont like as usually they almost have only commercial movies. Its very causy and has a good location. The seats are quite uncomnfortable, which is a pity. And I love that its forbiden drinking and eating. If I go to the cinema is to watch quietly a movie not to eat and drink! Keep on with your exibitions!!

Great films at the city centre.

I really like this place, they only have one screening room. They sell DVD and posters, you can get coffee, there is a lounge/waiting area before the screening starts where you can read newspapers.

I love small cinemas with great selection of films. Plus they have some selection of movies with English subtitles- very useful!

Yelp
This lovely one-screen cinema specializes in art house, foreign, and documentary films. Within one week I saw The Little Prince, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Heart of a Dog, and the Portuguese film Montanha here. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the seats are comfortable, pastries and drinks are available as is a wide variety of magazines and journals in the lobby. I can't recommend it more highly.
