"Sage: Vegan Fun for Everyone If you didn't know before you dug into your meal, you might not realize that every item on Sage's menu is vegan (a nicebonus for parents eating with kids). The jackfruit or tempeh tacos are so good many devoted carnivoreschoose to get their Mexican food fix hereover local nonvegan Mexican joints. Sagealso makes excellentvegan burgers, potato flautas, and salads filled with great crunchy textures and pops of flavor. Follow lunch or dinner with a slice of coconut cake or vegan birthday cake ice cream."

We tried two different burritos (one with jackfruit and one with a patty) and a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, the sauces felt unbalanced overall. The salad dressing was unpleasant and overly sour, and most of the sauces were difficult for us to eat. The only sauce we genuinely enjoyed was the creamy cilantro sauce. The best part of the burritos was the homemade tortilla. The kombucha was extremely sour and clearly over-fermented, although it was kindly replaced with another drink. Dessert was good, btw. That said, the staff were polite and the homemade elements show real potential — if the chefs refined the sauces, our rating could easily be a star higher. Please also note that onion and garlic seem to be built-in ingredients in many dishes, so if you have allergies or avoid them, it’s worth keeping this in mind. Overall, we were disappointed and, sadly, won’t be coming back.

The tempeh and mushroom rendang appears rich and properly reduced—the coconut base is thick and emulsified, which is exactly what gives rendang its depth and lingering umami. Tempeh is a strong choice here; it absorbs spice and fat far better than tofu and holds structure against a heavy sauce. The summer rolls add a clean counterpoint. Fresh vegetables and herbs wrapped tightly, with the crispy bean sprouts providing textural contrast, work very well against the richness of the rendang. The peanut sauce is clear and toasted rather than sweet-forward, which keeps the balance intact.

Came for the coconut cake. Wow!!! So good and perfectly chilled. Ambiance of the cafe was really comfortable and quiet. It was the perfect place to read my book. Came back. Had the jackfruit burrito 🌯 Amazing. The combination of textures is incredible, homemade hot sauce delicious. Coconut cake still divine. Coming back to try more of their food!!! Came back the next day. Got the sweet potato bowl. It should be renamed to cabbage and bean juice soup. There were maybe 6 pieces of potato on my bowl. The refried beans just looked like beans from a can, water included. Ordered the banana pancakes instead, they were yummy. The corn crusted Tempe “Chicken wings” were OK, I really like their homemade hot sauce. Over all the service is good, the employees are kind — I was just really disappointed with the potato bowl. I was expecting more potato, they’re so cheap anyways. I’ve worked in the service industry for 10 years and I don’t complain hardly ever. I respectfully and privately expressed my dissatisfaction. I recognize that I am probably just holding the service to an American standard, but I left a little annoyed how it was resolved after coming here a few days in a row.

My two visits left me with mixed experiences: some meals really struck me (tempeh wings), others were okayish, e.g. cauliflower wings tasted a bit too naughty (too much oil?) and oreo cake was actually just a chocolate cake What I was most disappointed by tho was the coffee: my iced latte turned out to be an iced coffee and tasted somewhat earthy All-in-all just/still a decent vegan place

Sage in Ubud really impressed me. The jackfruit burrito was absolutely delicious — hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. I also loved the coconut cake — super moist and not overly sweet, a perfect finish to the meal. The space itself is peaceful and beautifully designed.

I love the atmosphere at night. Breezy and the dim lights give it a cozy feel. The food was all organic and you can taste the realness of the food. The cauliflower was good but not great. The batter wasn’t crispy. My wife loved the burger, but I don’t like sweet burgers. I had the wrap and it was delicious.

The food was okay, fresh and tasty enough. They didn't have the items listed on the menu so they substituted some other vegetables. Service was quite slow for in-house guests, they seemed to be doing lots of takeaway orders.

Sage Bali is truly a magnificent place. We have had an incredible experience; it’s not just a cafe but a platform for community and heartfelt communication. We reached during afternoon hours and didn’t realize where the day passed and left at the time of the closing. It’s a vegan cafe where they choose local and organic ingredients. They source organic seeds and have an organic farm from where they source the majority of their produce. They make everything they can in-house, by hand, and from scratch. The good part is that they even compost their green waste from the restaurant and use it in their farm and gardens. All their frying is done in coconut oil with conventional ovens, no microwaves. The cooking is done in stainless steel and cast iron, and they have UV filters on all the taps throughout their kitchen and bar. It’s an absolute feeling of contentment, peace, and happiness to be here. This place will surely become our go-to place when in Ubud, Bali. This vegan spot is a delight. Simply amazing, and we are in awe of the atmosphere here.
