Tower Records Shibuya

Crazy experience! It was so amazing to finally be in Tower Records and you could tell how seriously important Japan takes their music. To have a dedicated huge ambient section featuring the finest artists around the world is something you do not get to experience everyday. There was a signing session and everything was really stimulating in a good way. Staff were so nice and welcoming.

So, so AWESOME!!! The smell I got right when walking into the store took me back 30 years when we used to buy CDs this way - by walking into the store and sampling a few tracks before buying the CD. So glad to see that Tower Records is still thriving! A definite must-visit.

I love this music store. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Proficient in English. Great to see a store chain still dedicated to physical media. However my recent visit they had 2 music terminals which weren't working properly and I have never experienced in the past. Still I stand by tower records especially the shibuya store

The most unique place for music lovers! It has many floors where you find music from any genre throughout different decades. The location is very convenient - just a few blocks from Shibuya crossing.

I had such a blast visiting Tower Records Shibuya. For people growing up in 80’s-90’s, physical media like CDs, cassettes, and Vinyl were part of the experience. Making a mix tape from favourite radio stations was a thing, a ritual. Tower Records in Shibuya is amazing. I purchased some rare records, and as a bonus they have real Altecs “Voice of the Theatre“ speakers actually playing music! These speakers are exceedingly rare, they were installed in movie theatres in 1940’s in USA. This store is such an experience. Highest recommendation from me.

Amazing place for music lovers, really every genre you like. As someone who loves anime, J-pop, K-pop and more it was amazing. There even was a Ghibli big shelf!

Tower records Shibuya is a very big record shop. It has all you can ask for (except anything in demand) and has something for any music lover. Worth a visit, but don’t count on it for finding highly sought after records/rare stuff. It has been raided by many people each day.

the best record store i have ever been into… i could have spent hours in here!!! very reasonable prices and a great diverse range of music that i can never find back in my home country. super nostalgic too, with cd and record players available to test your purchases on 🎶🎼 thank you so much tower records!!

No Music. No Life. Impressive Tower Records Tower in Shibuya; an iconic building a& location for over 20 years. Inside you will find an impressive collection of records, CDs, labels and posters... from the golden era to new, for artists from all over the world. Nothing beats a rubber record in hand with songs from your favorite artist. A must visit store while in Tokyo: Shibuya By the way, staff are very knowledgeable and friendly here. Cashiers are super fast and efficient. Makes for a great visit.

Obviously exploring Tower Records requires refueling now and then. Logically, this is the most convenient choice! The pros: - Themes change constantly, which means new decorations and menu offerings - Staff is polite and courteous - Great place for people-watching - You can use your Tower Records point card, and if you purchased something in the regular store earlier you get a cafe discount coupon - There's a take-away counter for beverages with a row of Starbucks-sequel seating (complete with outlets) The cons: - Due to many events going on at once on any given day in the building, this place can be crowded - Wait times are unpredictable - Going with more than three people can be a hassle for seating Worth multiple visits!

For over 20 years, Tower Records in Shibuya has been one of the goto music locations in Tokyo. While the days of purchasing music at Tower Records in America is no longer, in Japan, many continue to purchase CD's and albums thanks to many live performances where artists get the opportunity to perform in front of their fans or the music labels have found ways to attract music listeners to purchase a CD and get something fantastic in return. And while Tower Records is seen as a music mecca, they have also opened a restaurant/cafe in the store, where people can sit down, relax, read a magazine or book and enjoy the atmosphere of the location. And similar to the various niche-based cafe that are seen in Akihabara, Tower Records Cafe also does a good number of collaborations, so a special meal or desert tied to a music artist or group can be sold to the general public. Upon arriving to the cafe, the first thing I observed aside from people sitting and talking with their friends are the number of people, sitting, eating and reading books. On the shelves were fashion/pop culture magazines that were focused on America or European pop culture, which was surprising. Customer service was quick and easy. While at the cafe, I was amazed by the menu of the location. Appetizers, salads, cafe dishes, pasta, risotto and soup, pizza, hamburger and panini, meat and fish dishes, Tower Records Cafe has a great selection and you can also get a soft drink or alcohol with your dish. I decided to check out the rice omelet for 1,100 yen. One of the popular dishes sold at Tower Records cafe, the omurice (omelet with rice inside) featured a delicious sauce and a lot of cheese on top of the omurice. Definitely one of the more delicious omurice I tasted during my stay in Japan, I can easily recommend Tower Records Cafe for the environment and delicious food!

I came here for the rilakkuma theme because my sister is crazy about it. The wait wasn't that bad. The food was ok. It's basically for the theme. Overall, I wouldn't go back for the food but it was cute.
