Colorado Mines Peak

This fantastic mountain continues to allure and bewitch me.

Breathtaking views. It took me about 2h to climb up and 1h15min to climb down. Across from this mountain there is another one that is not as tall. I was told it is easier to climb than Colorado Mines Peak.

Sun May 30, 2021. Started our ascent around 10am. Only 3 vehicles in the lot. Packed snow along the service road kept you up but we cut off the switchbacks by going straight up. Much harder this way and we ended up knee deep several times until we finally breached the snow and tree lines. Gorgeous views from the summit except for the towers at the top. We made our way toward Flora, where we saw a still frozen Blue Lake, when the weather turned us back. Worth every step we took! Highly recommend!

I drove my work truck up to the mountain but I'm definitely going to hike it on one of my days off. The views were amazing.

Decided to Hike up to the peak today...lots of snow on the way up as well as back country skiing. Extremely windy and 4-5 foot drifts at the top.

Wonderful hike that is worth the views. Originally wanted to go from Colorado Mines Peak to Mt. Flora, but I didn't have enough light in the day. Next time I will definitely be leaving earlier to be able to catch Mt. Flora and Eva. The hike up took me about an hour and a half (there was a bit of snow) and the hike down was extremely easy and fast. Worth checking out! Can't wait to come back in the summer.

Trail is wide and easy to follow. The ascent is consistent and the switchbacks are longer than you'd think towards the top. It's well traveled, so you probably won't end up paving a new trail in the snow. Watch out for the wind.

Nice little hike, good steepness for those wanting to burn some extra calories. It's less than 2 miles to the top. Don't stand in front of the radio dishes.
