On the Grid : The World Bar

"It's a place that has a famous warm and cosy beer garden, a giant open roaring fire and is a well loved hangout spot for locals, travellers and friends alike. Great vibe, good food and really lovely staff. You can go there for lunch, afternoon drinks or for the live music and DJ sets. Do not miss the teapots drinks!" - makebardo

We kind of fell into coming to dinner here and we so glad we did. Warm cosy atmosphere, we tucked into their happy tea pots and we happily surprised at the meals. 3 huge tacos, a massive portion of fish and chips with mushy peas and the star of the show the korean fried chicken wings all at a great price. Wish we knew how good it was going to be sooner so we could of tried more. Located just down from the waterfront right next to its sister Yonder.

Great service. Chilled atmosphere. Food was delicious, large serving sizes. Fantastic beer selection

I had the most bland fish tacos of my life at World Bar. Not even the “spicy aioli” could save these things. No seasoning in the fish batter and none on the slaw. My server was nice but all the other workers kept congregating at a table right next to ours and they were being incredibly loud and disruptive.

A better burger than the famous spot in town and a much better experience overall: there is a spacious, heated patio outside with a good atmosphere and you don’t have to wait in a huge quiet before you can place an order. Don’t waste your precious holiday time just for a picture…enjoy time with your loved ones here.

Although it caught the last of the sun on a Sunday evening and had live music, we sat down because on the menu was a smash burger. We were excited for this having wanted to try ferg burger but the line was huge. Unfortunately, this was NOT a smash burger and should not have been listed as such. The patty had no resemblance of having being pressed into the grill and then bun had been toasted too much and made the entire thing really dry. Silver lining was that the pulled pork tacos were bigger than expected and pretty tasty

So far it’s been a 50+min wait on a Tuesday afternoon for a burger while there is 10 people here. Not really good enough. I walked past the kitchen and someone was on their phone at the pass. They also advertise a happy hour, but it’s only on two low carb, low bal tap beers.

Thursday night Nachos night specials $25. 645pm booking. Went to order 2 nachos and 2 other meals. Sorry NO NACHOS left. You’re kidding it’s only 645pm. Sorry they say. So we asked if we could have tacos with similar ingredients for $25.. The waitress didn’t confirm nor deny if she would honour my request and I saw her speaking with the manager. We ate our meal which took a considerable amount of time and the pub really wasn’t crowded. We went to pay, I asked if they would honour the meal we wanted and had ordered originally. The owner came over and said things run out, that’s how it is. I said you should have removed it from the specials menu since it was so early in the evening and basically because you havent, you should in good faith honour what we wanted. I would have understood if it was 8pm but it was peak dinner time and they clearly had not prepared accordingly. He was argumentative and wouldn’t budge. So would I recommend it .. NO it’s not good customer service.

Pretty typical bar/restaurant - everything was good, nothing out of this world but all fairly stock standard. Good place to pop in for a drink and something to eat on the fly. Had the pulled pork tacos which were good.
