"Chef's Garden and Table, Central Coast A day trip from Sydney to Stefano Manfredi’s restaurant in the Central Coast national park, Manfredi at Bells, is worth the drive. The restaurant is sophisticated, with a casual coastal tilt. There's blue-and-white-striped awnings and starched white tablecloths, a sprawling garden outlook and the faint smell of the sea. The garden has a huge influence on the food the chef serves—he grows his own beans, tomatoes, arugula (rocket), silverbeet, chard, sorrel, onions and potatoes, and so much more. The garden spans about 500 square meters and supplies the restaurant with more than 15 percent of the produce on the menu. We visited the 50 free-range hens, which supply fresh eggs to the restaurant. Visitors can wander into the gardens and see the produce while they wait for their meal. Manfredi himself is often around to talk through the more usual vegetables, handing over leaves of sorrel or arugula to taste. Stay over in one of the little private cottages, which are quaint and luxurious. There's an outdoor pool for warmer months. Or pop down to the local beaches for crashing waves."

My husband and I had our wedding at Bells at Killcare. It was well and truly the best day of our lives. From the moment we initially enquired, toured, and then booked the Bells, we have had the most amazing experience. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, but what really blew us away was our experience with each member of the team throughout our wedding planning journey and on our wedding day. During the 18 months of planning our wedding, I was in frequent contact with Sera. Sera made the process so seamless - no question or consideration was too much. She was responsive to every enquiry big or small, always happy to jump on a phone call, and helped in so many ways during the wedding planning process. Sera was truly my saviour during this crazy time in my life and I am so appreciative of everything she did - she is AMAZING. On our wedding day, Michael was our venue coordinator. He was everything and more! He made us feel like the most important people in the world, kept our day running smoothly, checked in with guests, and checked in with my husband and I to make sure we were eating haha. I know that Michael did a million things behind the scenes to ensure our day ran as well as it did - and we are so grateful for everything he did, both seen and unseen. Speaking of eating - the food was INCREDIBLE. My husband and I had eaten at the Bells before so knew the food was amazing, but honestly, our wedding menu was perfection. Our guests are still telling us how incredible the food was and how much of it there was! Our guests with special dietaries were also very well catered for, and have told us how grateful they were to be considered in such detail by the Bells. The service for us and for our guests was exceptional - glasses were always full, the serving staff so kind and accomodating, guests commenting on how LOVELY every team member was at the Bells. Guest experience was a top priority for us when planning our wedding - and the Bells exceeded our wildest dreams in ensuring ourselves and our guests TRULY had the best day ever. We have had countless comments on how well our day flowed, how beautiful the venue was, and how exceptional the experience was from start to finish. We have been told by numerous people that it was the best wedding they've ever been to - and we know that so much of that is thanks to the incredible Bells team. We are so happy that we had our wedding at The Bells. It was a dream come true, and there is honestly not a SINGLE thing we could fault in our entire wedding journey with The Bells. On another note - I have also been to the Bells Day Spa before and it is exceptional as well! We are so lucky to live nearby this beautiful venue so we can return for meals, a spa day, or even a staycation in the future. Thank you so much Sera, Michael, and the ENTIRE team at Bells at Killcare! We are eternally grateful for all of you <3 All our love, Madeline & Harry

My wife and I got married at Bells at Killcare over the weekend, and it was absolutely perfect. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and beautifully run. The staff were incredible, attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. They made sure everything went smoothly so we could just enjoy the day. The venue itself is stunning, the food was exceptional, and every detail was executed flawlessly. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate our wedding. Thank you to the entire team at Bells for making our weekend so special. We’ll cherish it forever.

Absolutely. Stunning. Simply the best retreat for a break or time away. The team at Bells work seamlessly behind the scenes to deliver an incredible visit for their guests. Everything is just so all the time. The rooms are a delight, well maintained and perfectly serviced. The restaurant is simply incredible and breakfast is unputdownable. The wine list is world class and all the team know how to use it and deliver it. The grounds are spotless every day. What more can I say other than get there and enjoy the experience. Thanks everyone at Bells for a great couple of days!

We had the best break here, so much so that on our last day we booked again for another stay in February! We travelled with a young toddler and stayed in one of their fabulously new lodges. The staff were so accommodating, organising a baby gate, high chair and cot prior to our arrival so that we could kick back and relax to enjoy our break away. The food at the restaurant was exceptional with fresh seasonal ingredients, and fresh bread and a newspaper delivered daily. My only regret - that we couldn’t stay longer!

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Bells at Killcare, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. We stayed on-site for two nights, and every aspect of our experience exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service and attention to detail were absolutely top-tier. A special mention goes to Katrin, the wedding coordinator, who was calm, level-headed, and by our side every step of the way. She ensured everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to truly enjoy the day we had been dreaming of. The staff were exceptional, not only were they attentive with food and drinks throughout the event, but they even cheered us on during our first dance, which we had spent months rehearsing. Those little touches meant so much! The accommodation was beautiful, stylish, comfortable, and perfectly suited for all our family and friends to stay together on-site. The gardens were stunning, providing a magical backdrop for our ceremony and a relaxed space for guests to enjoy lawn games during the afternoon. There were also so many breathtaking spots for photos throughout the property, it felt like every corner held a new opportunity for a perfect shot. If you are considering Bells at Killcare for your wedding, I truly cannot recommend it highly enough. It was everything we hoped for and more, an unforgettable setting for the most special day of our lives.

I can highly recommend Bells at Killcare, today we were served a three course meal which was fine dining, the food was superb. From the minute we arrived, we were met with such welcoming I honestly have never experienced before, so warm and happy. All the staff were exemplary with their service, so happy, honestly we felt so relaxed and happy. Thank you so much all of you at Bells, Killcare.

Google
We loved Bells. The location, accommodation, staff, food and spa were all fantastic. Great location to set out for the Boudi national walk, and what’s better is the food, spa and bath that await your return. We will definitely be back. Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

We stayed for three nights moving from the lake view room to garden room. The service and staff were excellent. The food both dinner and breakfast were tasty. The garden setting delightful . I'm surprised the pool is not heated||We had a very cold night on our last night. The heater did not cope. We lit the wood fired heater at 5 am and ended up using the bathroom towels and throw on the bed to get warm. We turned the heat pump up to 30 degrees but as the room had little insulation we never got warm. ||We reported this and we were told we would not be charged the additional service fee which was far from generous after a sleepless cold night.

Yelp
This luxury spa-like hotel, with its villas (where we stayed)...was one of the MOST relaxing places we've been! The food was excellent, farm-to-table, classic. Next time we will stay longer! Totally recommend for some R&R.

Yelp
We stayed here over the Easter weekend. It's really quite a stunning location and the grounds are immaculate, despite it pouring most of the stay. The restaurant (Manfredi at Bells) has fantastic food, though a limited menu if staying for more than one meal. Service at the restaurant is stunning, can't say enough good things about the wait staff - courteous, attentive and, most importantly, not in your way when you don't need them to be. Unfortunately, hotel staff are a different matter. Reception are a bit meh, and don't seem to care when you've got issues with your accommodation. They seem to have multiple systems for the estate because housekeeping can't seem to see when people have booked into other areas of the estate to see when a convenient time is to clean the room. Yes, I know it's pedantic, but it's a bloody expensive stay, so you expect amazing service. When your heating doesn't turn on and your air con is broken, and the reception doesn't seem to believe you and takes four hours to respond to your request, and then can't fix it themselves, it doesn't endear you to their service quality. When your toiletries are watered down, I'm the first one to cry "First world problems", but again, you're paying a lot of money for this level of service so you expect it to be top notch. So, lessons for Killcare - invest in another maintenance person in case one is busy - cross training is essential - I don't care if one is picking up a helicopter from the next estate, all I care is that I'm spending a bloody cold day in a five star resort with no heating. Another lesson - track your guests - invest in the software to see their whereabouts pop up on your restaurant reservation system so you don't leave messages on their phone when the place has no cell coverage. And finally - your reception is your front of house - it's the bastion of welcome, first and last. Make sure they are trained well and give them the tools to make their guests feel welcome, not make their guests feel like they are getting in your way.

Yelp
Had dinner at Manfredi's last night (Sunday night), was my first visit and hopes were high. Unfortunately I wasn't that impressed, I really wanted to be impressed. Yes service and atmosphere was great. But the main food wasn't as good as I hoped. Started with ocean trout and home grown tomato with cows milk mozzarella, both very nice. The mains were spaghetti with tuna and the beef dish. The pasta was bland, the steak was average. The cost was huge and not justified. Shame, I live on the same street as Bells and was hoping it could become my local walk to restaurant but won't be back for a while.

Yelp
We sat on the verandah facing the garden. The food was superb- the highlight was the pistachio pannacotta. Walked along the grounds at the end of the meal- very pleasant

Yelp
The parking with its high hedges gave a feeling that Bells hotel was at a winery. The heritage like bungalow building, surrounding decks and smartly uniformed service alluded to the fine dining we expected. I note that through the night, the staff covered a lot of ground around us; one walked tall as if serving the royal palace, one had a casual bar staff air about her, the sommelier was charismatic and our service with the smart navy jacket was warm and friendly. The other patrons ranged from smartly dressed to casual shirt and jeans. My seared scallops were accompanied by a tart and pea purée, peas and viney greens and crisp pannacota. I accompanied this with a 2014 Pooley Pinot Grigio which was light and refreshing. As the deck diners were being given blankets for some comfort, I took the time to get advice from the sommelier who advised me on an Italian red wine - couldn't recall it - Almano Cholo? Rac had the pork loin that had a soft moist texture keeping its delicate flavour. This was garnished with crackling and greens and it sat on a light jus. My short ribs arrived with the wine. The short rib, caramelised in it's red wine jus, melted like sweet butter in my mouth, it was heavily marbled and it took the heavy acidity of the wine to assist - thanks to the sommelier. The roasted mandolin sliced potatoes and grilled eggplant purée accompanied the short ribs perfectly. For dessert, Rac had a chocolate truffle, a dark chocolate powder covered chocolate shell. Inside is a rich chocolate truffle and caramelised oranges. All this sat surrounded by vanilla cream sitting on chocolate dirt. I opted for the cassata; a vanilla sorbet with a raspberry center. Simple and delightful on its own except for the grilled pistachios sprinkled over it elevating it to another level. I also had a glass of 2008 Anselmi dessert wine that couldn't accompany the sorbet due to the intense grapefruit and orange peel flavours. It is not honey like in texture but I would categorise it with slow sipping ports. I finished with an Espresso de Manfredi 'audacia' with the barman bounding to deliver it to me in what looked like an egg cup. I realise that their menu are seasonal therefore their hospitality would be welcomed again soon to sample more of their dishes.
