I'd heard this place was great for both people watching and for the food, so we gave it a go when we were in Paris. I can't tell you about the people watching as they shoved us upstairs away from a lot of the hustle and bustle, but the food was ok. To be honest, when we saw the prices, and actually realised we still weren't totally hungry yet, we only had an entree each, but what we had was nice. I had the heart of smoked salmon and blinis and they were good, but nothing outstanding. The service was ok, though when they gave us bread to start with, there was no plate or anything, and we inevitably made a mess on the tablecloth.
The one thing I personally found disgusting - might be an unpopular opinion - but they let a couple bring their dog upstairs to be at the table with them. I'm sorry, but if you do that at home, that's fine, but don't do it in a restaurant; it's not necessary.
Overall, I wouldn't come back again. I've done it once and that was enough. I don't get the hype, but to the "cool kids" and the Instagrammers, they'll get it. If you're in town long enough, then give it a try, but if you're short on time there are plenty of other great restaurants to eat at. The service was mixed, but again, nothing to write home about, in my honest opinion.
