101 Bakery

I'd be trying to find a reason to stop into 101 Bakery for literally years, and when I finally made it I wasn't disappointed. You know you've hit gold when you feel like you're having an impossible choice just to choose a baked treat. Setting aside the chocolate babka, blueberry bostock and white chocolate and honeycomb cookie caused me physical pain. But luckily I had zero regrets as I bit into my apple crumble custard brioche - just wonderful. I'll be back every time I'm in Edinburgh.

Rosanna baked and beautifully decorated a three-tier cake for my wedding. She collected flowers from the florist to decorate the cake and delivered the cake on the morning of our wedding. Each tier was a different cake/flavour combo and absolutely delicious - I made sure to try all of them! Truly the best cake ever. Highly recommend 101 Bakery 🫶

I’ve used 101 bakery several times now and can’t recommend them enough, beautiful cakes that taste great! They made me an amazing custom frog birthday cake and I chose to go back to them for our wedding cake as well which was exactly what we wanted. I will continue to be a repeat customer!

101 Bakery is hands down the best bakery in town. Rosanna and the team are such a delight. I always get a salted dark chocolate chip cookie-- tied with Levee Baking in New Orleans for my favorite cookie in the world. The cookie is both crispy on the outside and fudgey on the inside with the perfect amount of chocolate and salt. While they are large cookies, I always want more as soon as it is over. I also adore their savory foccaccia. My coworkers and I always fight about our favorite flavors: my favorite was this summer's squash, courgette, and garlic marscapone; my coworker loves the local tomato, onion, and cheese. There is always a vegan option for the foccaccia as well :) Like the foccaccia, they have many seasonal items. There was a pumpkin pie with maybe dulce de leche and a gorgeous whipped topping, their basque cheesecake is to die for. And OH MY GOODNESS the marmalade white chocolate blondies!!!

Been here a couple of times for a snack. Bakery is small but nice. Open kitchen which I love. Staff are super friendly and helpful. All treats we ordered were lovely. Most notably the brownie and the cinnamon bun were our favourite. I really like it how they seem to bake different treats each time but they always have their staples.

Fantastic freshly baked pastries/cakes/breads but the staff treat you like you are an inconvenience (apart from one lovely blonde woman who works there). The other staff members can’t bring themselves to speak to you or acknowledge your existence until it is time to pay. Absolutely shocking way to treat customers. If you got rid of the younger staff members, the place would be near enough unbeatable due to its high quality goods.

Came in for a savoury snack and a filter coffee and left with a stack of sweet treats in beautiful boxes. I tried the Cardamom Swirl, the brown butter muffin (a highlight), a salted caramel brownie, and a few other delights whose names I’ve forgotten. But the flavours; truly memorable! The service was delightful and I heard the talented bakers also make wedding cakes. I’ve got nothing planned but I’ll know where to return to if I do 💍

We used 101 Bakery for our wedding cakes and are really glad we did. The cakes themselves looked beautiful and tasted amazing. Rosanna was also able to supply us vegan and GF items for our guests with dietary requirements. All in all would definitely recommend!
