This place is under rated. It is so well curated and the ideas presented are so progressive compared to most main stream Museums in Europe. I'm really amazed! I think it has to do with the fact that it's built,.maintained and curated by community members and NGOs who actually participated in the revolution and the decades long anti dictatorship résistance.
This is one of the few places that actually make a link between Portuguese colonial history, dictatorship, racism, homophobia. hate against women and other right wing, conservative ideas. I was amazed how they linked anti colonial struggle in Portuguese colonies to the struggle against Salazar and to feminism and Lgbt rights.
I'll definitely return again next time I'm in Lisbon and I'll try to attend some of their events
Muito obrigado for turning this ex prison to a community place for justice and freedom
