Great drinks, fries were delicious! We sat out on the patio and we were served right away. We ordered some drinks and food. The drinks took a little bit to come. The fries were great and the pizza was pretty good, it needed a bit more cheese. The food also took a little while to come out. It was busy when we were there so it was understandable. Staff were friendly - they were doing their best to serve everyone and you could tell they we’re trying to cover a lot of tables at once. Overall we enjoyed our food and drinks. There wasn’t really anything too special or memorable that I would come back right away. But it’s good option for a bar with a roof top patio and street patio in Kensington.

Free house has a really good happy hour and their menu has many different things and lots of plates for sharing, great for a social atmosphere at a bar. Lots of good options for beer, cocktails, and even wine. I got the spicy chicken sandwich, I personally did not like the sauce on it at all but every other aspect of it was on point. Chicken was juicy and crispy. The fries were awesome, extremely salty - like burn your mouth salty - but I loved them. And there were tons of fries on the plate! And I always like a place that leaves water on the table. Good choice to go if you’re in the area but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great. The place is new, so I give some benefit of the doubt there. It took quite a long time to receive our food, or just to get refills of our beer.

Sat upstairs in the beautiful outdoor patio. Nice plants and spacious. Great views and people watching, the chairs were uncomfortable though. Nice servers, a little slow on service but loads of patience for hard workers who just need a few more people working those busy times. Management should address this so I can give 5 stars next time. Cocktails, beer and wine selections were great. Had the spicy Marie and the Caesar - both well made and unique. Had the Cubano, smashed beets with goat cheese and the braised lamb platter. Very impressed with this "pub" food. It was definitely elevated, thoughtful and delicious. (Not the gravy though - that was not good). Particularly impressed by the pork belly on the Cubano, the various fresh herbs and flavours on the lamb platter and the house pickles. Our server, Marie, was very helpful and had great suggestions. The overall reno is light, clean and airy but the upstairs outdoor bathroom could use some love. We'll be back and are looking forward to some live music. Thanks guys!

Very nice rooftop patio with a good amount of tables. Going for the happy hours is a must! Great selection of craft beers and sours and they all taste really good. Can't say I like the sandwiches much, but the flatbreads are great.

Ordered food at 11:15 am still waiting for a sandwich & dip T 12:15 . The sup came and the fried sage is to be fried on clean oil so to not Absorb the flavours of anything else. These tasted to be cooked In the dirtiest oil & was burnt. Imagine the disappointment after waiting an hour for a breakfast sandwich h & dip. I will NEVER WASTE MY MONEY HERE AGAIN. Ever. Don’t waste your money. Not the server fault when there’s 3 people in there on a Saturday morning. No discount, no apologies. Nothing. There is no railing to get in up the stairs so anyone with physical limitations be SOL

Amazing food and staff. Love how much variety of craft beer there is here. Roof top patio is perfection. Fantastic location. I definitely recommend coming during happy hour if it's your first time so you can try everything at a good price.

Went for their trial brunch and it was great with super friendly service. Menu may change so definitely make sure to let them know what you liked and didn't like! I got the potato pancake which is savoury and not a typical breakfast, but my eastern European roots loved it. Their 10-11am grumpy brunch has a great deal on Caesars (they have a Caesar cart coming to your table!!) and other drinks, too. Will be going back to try the rest of the menu!

Solid service and beer. Great space and awesome patio. The pizza was excellent and a great value. The kale salad and tartare left a little to be desired, a little over salted for our tastes but probably goes better when the beer is flowing. We will be back.

This past Saturday night, a group of us visited Free House after a busy day with family, in-laws, and friends (none of us are fussy eaters and every one of us enjoys exploring new and unique restaurants). The experience was incredibly disappointing owing to a bewildering change in the menu. Gone from the menu are the delicious flatbreads, most sandwiches and other pub fare that they did so well. Also gone are the traditional side dishes that you would expect to find any pub restaurant. Quite disappointingly, we were shocked to find that a new "sharables" menu, which was disjointed, massively overpriced, and by some measure insulting (i.e. see the $11 dollar Pringles and onion dip appetizer, which is an unopened small can of pringles and a bowl of uninspiring dip that tastes about the same as the store bought plastic containers). The only recognizable menu items were the hamburger and a Ruben ($18 dollars each) that come with no sides or garnish and, as I've noted you can't even order fries or anything reasonable on the side. Literally a hamburger on a side plate. There are some more eclectic menu items that might be appropriate if you went to (and were in the mood for) a modern fusion tapas restaurant, but if you're in the mood for a relaxed pub atmosphere, most of these will miss the mark. The food itself is okay at best, but certainly not worth the exorbitant prices. It seems to me that management decided to go this sharables route to increase revenue (higher prices) and decrease costs (because there is fractionally less on your plate). The problem with this new income model is that I will never (ever) go to Free Houseagain with this clown-car of a menu, so any early increase in revenue will be short lived as I don't expect there would be many return customers. From what I can discern, management seems to be targeting $50 or $60 per customer for a meal and a drink, so expect to pay about that much or more if you are looking to walk away relatively satiated. We chose Free Housefor a relaxed dinner with family after an important and busy day. The menu is absurd and none of us plan on returning. Overall, I do not recommend Free Housewith the menu in its current state - it is RIDICULOUS. When I am in the mood for spending this kind of money on this kind of food I will go to a restaurant where they know how to do it and do it better. A can of pringles? Really? Talk about mailing it in.

Great beer selection. Normally love coming here with clients and friends so headed down tonight to enjoy some dinner. Quite disappointed to see the entire menu has changed. No more great flatbreads. dishes are quite bizarre. Soup dumplings, duck meatballs, $165 steak? Fried chicken was sold out as was the fish fry special. We had placed an order for 3 fish fry but then got told only 2 of us could get the order. After the delay all the appies and mains came out at the same time. Seemed like this was a brand new restaurant and not an established joint. The server mentioned a new chef but if it ain't broke... not a fan of the new food. Please bring back the flatbreads.

Beers on the menu are always out. Food is good but overpriced. . And lol @ your credit card machine tip options of 18% 20% or 25%.

Bad luck.. chef was a good guy but not good with his old friends and never got to try anything out cause his history with a group friends .. i got a broken heart and no meal

I had high hopes for this restaurant when I looked over the menu before going. After ordering just the appetizer I was severely disappointed. This was the charcuterie board my friend and I ordered; it came with 3 types of cheese, a few assorted types of meat and then I guess what they are using as a substitute for bread. This platter looked like something a college student would put together with some things from the back of the fridge. Along with this, we waited for almost 45 minutes after the appetizer to be served our meals. And then another half hour after finishing them to get the cheque. Which my friend had to go up to our server to ask for. Overall, I was not pleased with the experience I had at Free House and would not recommend spending a night out there.

On a hot Thursday night, we waited 45 minutes for a mediocre burger and steak sandwich. The fries were lukewarm and the steak was bland. Burger was so so. Staff couldn't wait to clear my plate- about 5 seconds after I put down my fork. Maybe go for the beer.

Great place to try local beer. However, I highly recommend staying away from $44 appy platter. It's very over priced for such little amount that certainly does not feed the claimed *4 people*. Otherwise, great atmosphere to go for drinks & flatbread as long as the service is good, sometimes it can be quite terrible.

I wasn't very impressed with the service or menu. The beer and wine are quite pricy compared to other places that serve local drinks. Also, quite a small menu and not many options. Not sure if I would come back.

This place just opened in the old Molly Malone's location and WHAT AN UPGRADE! Beautiful atmosphere, bustling and energetic, with a focus on local beers. They also had great cocktails and sharing plates. The carrot hummus was so great, I enjoyed all the drinks too. I was there for a large birthday party and the service was phenomenal. It can get quite loud, probably because it is a smaller building, but that was the only minor issue. Will definitely return!

Had a terrific experience at Free House tonight. The food was remarkably good - roasted carrots,, beets w/goat cheese, squid, pork belly, shrimp salad - all using super fresh and plentiful ingredients. Tried a couple of the "toasts" - Yummo! Very nIce server Georgia assisted by a few others. Nice team approach. Excellent food. Going back in 2 weeks!

Great atmosphere and excellent beer and food selection. Only reason this one isn't getting 5 stars is because of how one of the managers or owners, I'm not sure who he was, spoke to the servers. On two different occasions I overheard him speak to them in a condescending and rude way. People can make or break your business and if this place wants a fighting chance they had better learn how to effectively lead their staff in a supportive way. Tip: "just so you know" is a bullshit way to give someone feedback.
