San Antonio is a casual, serve-yourself spot located inside a Mexican grocery store, and it did not disappoint. We ordered 10 tacos for $30, which was an incredible value, especially since they really load them up with meat. Definitely worth the price.
The setup is similar to a fast-food place: you order at the counter and wait for your food to be called. We tried the pastor, asada, carnitas, barbacoa, buche, lengua, and tripa. Our top three were pastor, asada, and carnitas. All were flavorful and well-seasoned. Next time, we’ll definitely be trying the pollo.
There’s a toppings station on the side where you can dress your tacos street-style, plus four different sauces that were all delicious though a couple of them definitely brought the heat. Since it’s inside a grocery store, there’s no alcohol, so we grabbed sodas instead.
We went on a Saturday around 7pm and had plenty of seating to choose from, though it seemed like a lot of people were ordering takeout. Overall, great food, great value, and we’ll definitely be back to try more options!
