Absolutely incredible experience at The Boathouse Eatery in Georgian Bay. The food was amazing! The esquites were delicious, the brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the peach salad was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. They also carry local beer, and the chocolate mousse and the crème brûlée are 10/10! The service truly made our visit special! Azael and David were both outstanding, warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome and pampered from start to finish. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for top-tier food, a great atmosphere, and unforgettable service. We'll definitely be back.

Great dinner experience yesterday. Patio was full so we sat inside. It was lovely service. Place is expensive. We paid $300 for 8 mains, no starters and no desserts. After 10 there was live country music on the patio which enhanced the dining experience.

This restaurant is a gem! The outdoor patio is full of good vibes—with beautiful views of the harbor, plenty of seating, and lots of umbrellas to keep things cool and shaded. The live music added the perfect touch to that laid-back summer atmosphere. The food was just as impressive. We had the braised brisket sandwich with fries and the chicken avocado sandwich with sweet potato fries—both were delicious and satisfying. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, a scenic patio, and a fun, summery vibe!

We were seated and got our drinks pretty quick! After that it was downhill. We ordered our main and never seen our server again. We got our condiments off of another table and never succeeded in getting napkins from anyone. The cooks definitely hold this place down, because the food is great! Food is great! There's tonnes of servers/bussers around doing nothing. It's a great place and patio, I hope you find a solution, maybe better management of your staff to train them on being present.

Google
Seated promptly inside as the patio was full with live music on a Thursday night. Acknowledged immediately and given coasters and asked for drink order before we even got to look at the menu. Then waited minimum 10 minutes before he came back for the order, even though inside wasn’t that busy and staff will milling around and chatting. Someone else dropped off the food. Had to remind that I didn’t get my glass of wine. No one asked for initial thoughts on the food. Plate finished and had to ask for bill as we were on a time limit. Got the fish and chips which were excellent but wouldn’t order the lamb appetizer again. Said 2 3 oz ribs but probably only 3 oz total. One rib looked to be half a rib. Lamb overcooked, well done and not even hot when served. A little bit of tzatziki sauce and a few olives with 6 mini naan breads. Not worth $25. Wasn’t our first trip, but our first inside and felt ignored. Will wait for an outside table next time as the service seemed better there.

Google
Cool place to eat, beautiful patio overlooking the harbour. Food was okay… I had the pulled pork tacos and the toppings were good but the pork was pretty dry and plain. A lot of the other menu items sounded delicious, so I would definitely be willing to try something else there again. My boyfriend had a burger and was very happy with it. Service was good, and atmosphere was cool. Would definitely go back if we are ever in the area again!

Google
Boathouse Eatery is a total gem on the Midland waterfront. The brisket? Juicy, tender, they clearly know what they’re doing with slow-cooked meats. The equites done exactly right! The peach salad was a standout, light, fresh, and beautifully balanced. It’s not every day you describe a salad as exquisite, but here we are. The cherry on top: lactose-free ice cream in the patio! Huge shoutout to manager David, who goes above and beyond. 10/10 all around!

Google
Great service and delicious seafood. Me and my partner got the Seafood Duo & the Fish n Chips and as appetizers we got the Deep Fried Calamari. Really nicely battered and the Seafood Duo was so creamy and delish. It was our first time here and if we ever swing by Midland again we will definitely come back here again! Best spot to visit for visitors of the town - especially during the summer.

Yelp
I had a virgin Pina Colada and pulled pork brisket along with Brochettes. Both were very good. My compliments to the chef.

Yelp
Good service, giant tasty burgers, and live music ... perfect! Just a little bit pricey, but worth it.

Yelp
Delicious short ribs, great price, fast and helpful service. The music wasn't too loud for dinning and clean bathrooms.

Yelp
I am Celiac - there are several GF options on the menu and staff seemed knowledgeable - they were good with the vegan burger (I opted not to pay the extra for a GF bun). The Fries, which are done in a 'separate' fryer-thank you - were completely inedible. Completely overdone - I chewed through three. I should have mentioned it as soon as I saw them arrive

Yelp
The service was good . I think the portions are small for the price, the food just Ok. I go every Monday night in the Summer usually for live music and dancing. The band is excellent! Unfortunately, they are not playing at the boat house anymore so my friends and I will not be going. See you later boat house.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. Just an all around great experience. I would recommend and look forward to returning.

Yelp
In an attempt to escape the chaos of the city for a few hours. My Dad, his friend and I visited here once and it was definitely a pleasant experience. Speaking as a Torontonian, the view was lovely the patio overlooks the water and it's raised so you miss the activity happening in the parking lot below. I ordered the Alfredo pasta with chicken but kept eyeing the boathouse salad next to me. It sounded and looked delicious and much lighter for a hot summer's day. Whether it was as good as it looked, I can't comment; however, it's favourite among people who have ordered it before. Back to the linguini Alfredo chicken thing. The chicken was so juicy and moist, I wasn't expecting that at all. Cooked perfectly. The pasta does come with bacon and they tell you that ahead of time. I'm biased, I'm never overly fond of bacon in pasta Alfredo. Overall, the pasta wasn't bad. It was on the heavier side but that's likely because my stomach was much more interested in the salad. Menu isn't fancy but it should cover something for everyone and also has a full bar. Family friendly. It is accessible but I don't believe they have an accessible washroom. They are also right next store to a local ice cream stand for dessert. Worth a visit!

Yelp
This spot offer some great views of the harbour front, plus the service received was excellent! We were warmly greeted and offered a nice spot on the patio. Our server was quick and attentive. We ordered drinks and our meals without issue. Since it was a hot day, I went for a Greek salad with salmon which was delicious. My dinner company had a salmon/shrimp meal and he had no complaints! I tried one of the shrimp and they were well cooked and seasoned. We never felt rushed or thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
My Midland Boathouse experience was quite nice! Great service, and amazing food! We ordered our food and it arrived in no more than 15 minutes!! While being a Saturday night (busy) it came incredibly fast! Named the (boathouse) it really does stand up to its name! The interior does have the feeling of lake life! Overall I loved the dinner I had at this restaurant and I do recommend it!!

Yelp
This was our first visit to Boathouse Eatery. There were 7 of us here for lunch on a beautiful, sunny July afternoon. The location is lovely. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the lovely view of the dock and all the boats. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She arrived promptly after we were seated and took our beverage order. We ordered a variety of beer and cocktails. Everything arrived shortly after we ordered and the beer was nice and cold, cocktails well made and delicious. The reason for the 2 star review has no reflection on the service, location, view or drinks. It's all about the food. I'll start with the positive. 3 of us had pulled pork sandwiches and all said they were tasty and fairly large portions. One of us had the Greek salad and said it was pretty good, with a fair number of olives and a tasty dressing. My husband had the ahi tuna salad and although the tuna was pretty good, it needed seasoning. The greens were heaped in the middle of the bowl, but only the top of the greens actually had any dressing. The dressing needed acid and salt as it was rather bland. My son had the grilled chicken Caesar, which tasted really nice but was extremely overdressed. It was so weighed down with dressing that it was almost unpleasant to eat. He also ordered the fried pickles which tasted quite nice, but were too soft and not at all crisp. The ranch dip was extremely salty. I ordered the butter chicken with rice and naan. This was by far the most disappointing dish. First of all, it looked like a jambalaya as it had absolutely no sauce at all. It was served topped with a couple of dollops of sour cream, diced tomatoes and green onions (more like a taco/burrito bowl in appearance). Although there was a slight butter chicken flavour, the dish had no semblance of butter chicken at all other than the fact that it had rice and chicken in it. If you're looking for a lovely view, great drinks and good service, then this is the place to visit. If you're looking for great food, I'd try somewhere else.

Yelp
We went to eat here last night, they have good food with relatively high prices for small portions and last night were very busy and seemed understaffed however our family had fun and we enjoyed ourselves so it was overall a good experience

Yelp
Was in the area and looking for some place to eat. Wasn't expecting much when going here as it only has 3 stars and expecting mediocre bar food... but was I wrong. This place was beyond my expectations. There were 6 of us and easily got sat in the patio without a wait. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza, California Burger and Halibut Fish & Chips. The view overlooking the harbour is fantastic and very relaxing. Servers were very accommodating and friendly. The food was typical bar food but executed perfectly. I STRONGLY recommend the Halibut Fish & Chips, the flavour of the fish was one of the best I've had and wasn't too greasy. Although it was busy, the servers made sure that we were not forgotten. Another plus is that it's right beside Kawartha which is a definite plus for me for dessert Also beers weren't expensive ($6.25 for a pint of Coors!)

Yelp
This is such a prime location. Miss Midland boat cruise tours start and end just a few feet away and all those hungry people can enjoy some good and drinks on the well shaded patio while looking onto the marina. I was expecting a 4 star review, based off of what I had glanced at on Yelp before ordering. However, I was a little disappointed. This is because while most of the servers were super friendly and highly efficient, the server we got was lackluster. After realizing we wouldn't be drinking and taking our food orders, we literally did not see her again for over an hour. She never came back to check up on us, ask how our meals were, see if we needed anything. In fact, we were done our meals and even asked a different server for our bill because we had been waiting for 20 mins and that server said she would go let our server know (to bring us our bill). We still did not see our server or receive our bill for another 10 mins. Meanwhile, she was off checking up on other patrons around the patio. Beyond that, the food was okay. I had the salmon fish and chips, and others tried the haddock fish and chips and the (veg) red curry. Red curry was supposed to be "spicy" but was pretty bland. The fish and chips were bricks of fish and nothing very special about them. You do get a lot of food though, if you're getting any of the fish and chips dishes. The view is nice and I could tell that the service (of the other servers) were great. I wish whatever our server's issue was, she would have stepped away and allowed someone better at their job to take care of us while she treated the rest of her tables with good service.

Yelp
- Good service - beautiful view if the weather allows sitting on the deck - reasonably priced beverages - overpriced food - food taste: below average, nothing looking or tasting fresh

Yelp
The food prepared pretty well but we paid way too much for what we got. The place needs to focus on delivering better value. -Deep fried pickles- frozen Sysco/GFS product- ranch dressing - 6pc - $9 ... ok - Caesar - $5 - typical flavor but watered down, weak drink - side Caesar salad - tiny little side bowl of salad - $6 - poor value - its a freaking ramekin of salad! -Anchor burger - typical pub burger - the bacon was nasty, it looked like last weeks reheat. The burger was my issue here. The bun comes undressed. This is a thing you find in pubs here in Ontario . As a fairly seasoned chef myself It seems totally strange to me to have to take my bun apart, dress it yourself- then reassembled our meal. A meal should not only be delicious, flavorful and good value, it should also eat well. It should come ready to eat. Ok so whatever. I asked for mayo and was charged for it. I complained about being charged on top of the $17.95 for the burger so the server asked the manager to come over. The young man (he looked like he was about 12) he explained that not everyone likes mayonnaise do they don't include it. The mayo that we received was to consistently of a vinaigrette, totally runny. He also explained that the chef insists on charging for side sauces to keep his food cost in check. $18 is really the most you can milk your customer for a burger. For that price it better be an exceptional burger. The burger was mediocre and needed a good burger mayo. Giving away a 1.5oz ramekin of sauce is not going to effect your food cost. If you are charging that much and your food cost isn't in line then you need to asses your skills as a kitchen manager

Yelp
A great atmosphere, with a view and patio right by the water. This place is well staffed and very friendly. Fish and chips were great. Halibut was soft and fresh and wasn't overpowered by excessive fried batter like we see too often at other places. Coldslaw was bland but not unbearable. Food servings here are also very sizable. Free ice cream for kids is also a great touch. Overall, a good experience and a mandatory place to go if you're in the Midland area.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed, have been under the weather and my boyfriend decided to treat myself and sister to a thanksgiving meal out. The food was overpriced and just not good at all. Fried pickles were burnt, calamari was hard and freezer burned. Fish tacos sent my sister to the bathroom to sharf Several times. We hardly ate any of our meal and weren't asked why or if we enjoyed it. We won't back. What a waste.

Yelp
There food is really good and the meal kits they have are worth it. The service the is also incredible very nice people.

Yelp
Vast menu with great options for everyone! Beautiful views and a massive patio..! Highly recommend including it in your plans if you're in Midland.

Debbie C.

Yelp
Excellent service. Perfect views. Really good atmosphere and the food is great to Love to go there and sit out on the large patio with a cocktail. Beautiful, but can get busy on a nice day.

Yelp
First time here and experienced none of the deficiencies experienced by others. Had salmon and chips myself and it was too much for me! Others in the group were similarly affected. The service was first rate as was the food. I almost thought they were overstaffed 'cause they were everywhere and ever-eager to please. Got out before the live band! But that's just me! Would go back; the washrooms are (marginally) accessible!
google avatar

Yelp
Maybe go for the beautiful view, but that's about it. The night started off poorly as the hostess was very rude to two guest who clearly didn't speak English as their first language. She was short and abrasive with them both. Not cool. The table service was substandard - too much time between check-ins and between ordering our food and it coming to the table. We even had to wait quite a time to pay. They were busy, but not busy enough to warrant such a wait time. The food was greasy and not as described and rather overpriced for what they delivered. I ordered the cajun catfish and it was extremely fishy tasting, and had very little spice to it. Cajun should be hot! The rice was very bland, as were the vegetables. I thought they'd at minimum offer a great beverage due to the large patio, but my sangria was more wine with a little alcohol and fresh fruit tossed in as an after thought. Sangria fruit should have, at minimum, a hint of alcohol taste to it, but I presume it was rushed (unlike the service). An extreme disappointment - I can't see myself going back, which is a shame due to its ideal location at the docks.

S R.

Yelp
Walkin in - When we asked for a window table, we were told there was none left. But then we looked ourselves, and found one - which the waitress granted us (honest mistake or just plain avoidance, not sure). Food - Chicken wings were good, Top Sirloin was pretty good, Fish n Chips had too much breading. Prices - Paid $120 for dinner, drinnks and appetizers for 2. Will I ever go back? Yes, for the lively ambiance, good location, some decent food options.

Yelp
This place has such a great day and night life! The food is amazing and the servers and bartenders are fantastic!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great outdoor patio and the service and food is all beyond amazing. Makenzie went beyond for us as out of town guests. After thirty years with the Airlines as inflight crew. Service is so important. She was above and beyond, all with a smile.

Yelp
Was visiting family in Midland and decided to come here for supper. 4 adults and 1 child. First of all we were sat at a bar height table which was fine but then had to move a bunch of small chairs out of the way because they were scattered around the table. They didn't give us a kids menu, took quite a long time for our overpriced food to arrive. I ordered a margarita pizza and it was nothing but a cheese pizza with some basil....my daughters $10 kids chicken fingers were two 1 inch pieces of chicken....I can go on and on...when we visit again, we will not be visiting here again. Food bad, pricing bad and restaurant bad...

Yelp
Spending some quality relaxation time in Midland, ON and had the best po'boy fresh white fish sandwich of my life with an Erdinger beer. Boathouse Eatery has an awesome patio with a view of the bay. I will be dreaming of the po'boy and delicious beef gravy for years to come, I'm sure. We had a friendly server, who up-sold us on 2 huge orders of gravy. That was sneaky, but I understand his motive and I forgive him because it was so delicious!
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
In Midland for a weekend break my wife and I happened upon this place as it had a great view of the Bay and a great patio. We both ordered fish and chips and I had an Erdinger which was delivered by a lovely server who was very attentive and friendly and helpful. When the food came, my face dropped as each piece of fish was exactly the same size and colour, a sure indication that the fish was frozen and tasteless. Sure enough, it was indeed frozen and overcooked but the batter was still doughy on the inside. Even the fries were frozen for crissakes! A 'restaurant' that can't be bothered to get potatoes and cut them for fresh fries is not worth your hard earned dollar. Overall, good service, friendly and attentive, great location but do not expect good food. Order a cheap burger or wings, have a beer or two and then call it a night.
google avatar

Miriam F.

Yelp
Great waterfront dining on a huge patio. The inside is a bit dark but we were fortunate to get a table for five outside. We ordered catfish special, seafood linguini and cheeseburgers and everything came out great. Carrot cheesecake was the best part of the meal. Kids got carrots for a starter and ice cream for dessert with their meals. Would recommend for fun night out but the atmosphere is loud so keep that in mind

Mark T.

Yelp
Location is great for the summer. The place has a beautiful patio. Entertainment provided all summer long which is a nice touch. That's the good stuff. But... food selection is like the chain stuff you'd get at Kelsey's or Boston Pizza. It's overpriced and lacking any creativity. The same can be said for the beer. The owners have taken the money off Labatt and don't offer any local Ontario craft beer. A crying shame - Ciboulette et Cie is the only place in Midland with a good beer selection - this is a huge miss by the Boathouse. Lastly the summer staff are really poor. Hostesses are disinterested - You have to wait for them to finish their chats with each other before they'll even acknowledge you and then when you do get shown to your table they somehow seem to forget to tell your server you're there. If Barnstormer ever opens up on Bay St these guys are going to really have to raise their game

John Q.

Yelp
Just really terrible, their Caesars are absolutely awful, I feel like they're rimmed with steak spice, the food is ridiculously overpriced for what you get, it's just standard pub food but poorly prepared and cooked. The service was definitely lacking, just an all around bad experience, I will not be back!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Great location right on the harbor. It's very popular so it can get very busy at peak times. We went at about 1:15 on a Sunday and the very spacious and delightful outdoor eating area was nearly full. We shared the smoked salmon starter. I had a greek salad and my wife had the "boathouse burger." Nothing was exceptional but all very good. Lots of waitresses who are friendly and attentive.

Diane Y.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of lunch at the Boathouse in Midland on the busiest day of the year for them....the Butter tart Festival....it was busy (packed) did not wait long to get in maybe 5 minuets.....had a very nice lunch of cold beer and burgers and salad ....the food was hot , nicely presented and delicious ...came out at a nice pace...the wait staff were excellent, efficient and most cheerful.....being that it was such a busy day we were so surprized at well organized everything was....the four of us ladies were impressed and we all would definitely come back again......job well done The Boathouse!
google avatar

Kat V.

Yelp
This was the second time we visited Boathouse over the past two years. The service was jaunty and pleasant. The patio had a picturesque view of the harbour along with cruise boat. The umbrellas are nice and big and there is plenty of shaded area. Alcohol options extend beyond Canadian standards of Molson and Bud and include Erdinger and Miller as well as some popular cocktails. Sangria however was a bit too fizzy and although not awful it did not taste like it had much wine in it. We ordered the Boathouse Salad, Ahi Tuna Salad, Halibut and Chips as well as sweet potato and regular fries and Spinach dip as an appetizer. At first we had to return the fries, because they were overfried, but the replacement arrived quickly and was nice and golden. Halibut was tasty and had a nice ratio of fish to batter. The salads were great, Ahi Tuna was nicely seared and seasoned. Overall, it's a nice option in the town where everything is closed on a long weekend Monday.

Yelp
After my previous visit one year ago to The Boathouse I revisited the restaurant during my annual Midland summer weekend trip this past summer of 2015. I must say the service and food were much better and this deserves a revision of my initial review. The service first and foremost was pleasant and accomofating, we were served by a humble, relaxed and witty waitress who boldly embraced my families dry, sarcastic and normally exaggerated humor. Initially our shared plate of French fries was over done but it was swiftly remade with no hesitation. The rest of the meal was pleasant and filling. Unfortunate I don't recall what I orderd specifically.. However I do remember the beverages. The selection is definitely refreshing, they do offer Erdinger and Miller genuine draft on tap as well as the usual suspects. The Boathouse holds a bit of nestalgia for me, in that I worked there as a chef in the days it was formerly known as Scully's Crab Shack. I am glad it is still a beacon on the shores of a friendly getaway town. Do yourself a favor, stop in for a lunch or an evening dinner on the gigantic harbourfront patio, you won't be dissapointed.

Yelp
Slow to be recognized and be served when sitting down. Had to ask for a menu and waited 10 minutes to be recognized by the servers. There wasn't a lack of service staff but a lack of paying attention

Yelp
We wanted a place overlooking Midland Bay for a wedding anniversary. Having seen mixed reviews, it was with some trepidation that we made online reservations for August 25th at 5:15 pm. Our fears were soon allayed. We arrived in the midst of a Tugboat Festival of some sort. Parking, though hard to find was available close to the restaurant. The restaurant itself was very busy. There was a small lineup at the maitre d's station. We cleared that in just a minute or so and were whisked to an excellent corner patio table. The view was spectacular! Our server (Frank?) took our drink order and within 10 minutes a very tasty Peach Bellini and Stella Artois were in front of us. We ordered the seafood pasta and the sesame Crusted Salmon. Both arrived very promptly. The dishes were delicious. Seafood pasta can be over salted. This was not. The balance of pesto, olive oil and onions nicely offset the seafood (clams, mussels, squid, octopus and shrimp). Although the seafood was prepared from frozen, it was hard to tell as they'd taken the time to sautee the mixture in the pesto and olive oil. The pasta was perfectly Al dente, not mushy ae one would have expected if it'd been sitting on a hot plate. My wife's salmon was beautifully presented and was also delicious. Fresh strawberries were an attractive and tasty garnish as was the grilled lime. After an appropriate amount of time and a commemorative photo courtesy of the server, we were presented with our bill, paid and spent a leisurely hour walking around the harbour. It was an amazing experience. We will be back.

Wolfgang S.

Yelp
Nice location to sit outside overlooking the harbor. Service was very good. Two dishes indicated on the menu as "favorite" for the restaurant were not available. Appetizer (Calamaris) and entrées (Pasta, Burger, Pizza, Salad) served were delicious.

Ann U.

Yelp
Beautiful view. Great location. Nice decor. Decent beverages. Slow service. Shame about the food.

Yelp
The location, service and the food was completely amazing! It is the best restaurant in the area so far, maybe because we had the same server the two times we went, but he was just awesome! His recommendations, his service and his great attitude just blew us away! We tried their burgers, their pizza, the butter chicken, the halibut which was outstanding, the pulled pork sandwich and everything was just great and looked so appetizing! The price fits their menu, and their menu has a wonderful selection that will suit your taste buds. (I have 5 years experience in service and go eat everywhere)
google avatar

Reid E.

Yelp
After a long bike ride up from Elmvale this was the *best* place for eats and drinks!
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
DO NOT HAVE DINNER HERE ! My chicken was definitely microwaved with cheap strawberry sauce (ice cream topping) as the "compote". The "fresh" vegetables were frozen. My boyfriends dinner was an uncle ben's microwave rice packet. All for just under $100, what a bargain!

Danielle T.

Yelp
I went to Midland for a work trip and decided to try the Boat House because of the beautiful scenery. It's very relaxing to sit on the patio and watch the ships come in. That's a big plus. Sadly the food quality is medicore at best and overpriced. I had a $21 fish plate that the waiter strongly recommended, and it was definitely a pre-packaged frozen fish that had been defrosted. My co-workers had the Captain's Plate ($23) which is an assortment of fried seafood and the fish & chips ($17) - both said the breading was too thick and there was barely any seafood inside. We all said the atmosphere was nice and the service was good, but we wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Nice view. Good food. Small portions. A little pricy. Bad service and management. Slow service. Avoid if you have a better option.
google avatar

Joy K.

Yelp
Great patio, live music and pub food. Fun place to go for a night out when we're up at the cottage.

Marifé V.

Yelp
Overpriced. Burger patties were bland i.e. ZERO flavour and the texture was too smooth for a burger. Calamari was alright. Fries were okay. Huge patio. Fish and Chips - fish pieces were decent.
google avatar

Doug M.

Yelp
Great food. Clean restaurant. Awesome service. Was worried when we saw the bad reviews, but definitely not disappointed. 4 of us. We had jambalaya, ribs and wings, boat house burger, haddock fish and chips. All good. Good value. Nice view by the water.

Miss B.

Yelp
Food is good quality and tastes great, good variety on the menu. Service is friendly and quick. A little more expensive then other restaurants in the area but worth it. Also has a great view of the bay with a patio right on the water.

Yelp
Only two stars because the location and atmosphere is good. Food is no good. Service and drinks are okay.
