This was our first visit to Boathouse Eatery. There were 7 of us here for lunch on a beautiful, sunny July afternoon.
The location is lovely. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the lovely view of the dock and all the boats.
Our server was very friendly and helpful. She arrived promptly after we were seated and took our beverage order. We ordered a variety of beer and cocktails. Everything arrived shortly after we ordered and the beer was nice and cold, cocktails well made and delicious.
The reason for the 2 star review has no reflection on the service, location, view or drinks. It's all about the food.
I'll start with the positive. 3 of us had pulled pork sandwiches and all said they were tasty and fairly large portions. One of us had the Greek salad and said it was pretty good, with a fair number of olives and a tasty dressing.
My husband had the ahi tuna salad and although the tuna was pretty good, it needed seasoning. The greens were heaped in the middle of the bowl, but only the top of the greens actually had any dressing. The dressing needed acid and salt as it was rather bland.
My son had the grilled chicken Caesar, which tasted really nice but was extremely overdressed. It was so weighed down with dressing that it was almost unpleasant to eat. He also ordered the fried pickles which tasted quite nice, but were too soft and not at all crisp. The ranch dip was extremely salty.
I ordered the butter chicken with rice and naan. This was by far the most disappointing dish. First of all, it looked like a jambalaya as it had absolutely no sauce at all. It was served topped with a couple of dollops of sour cream, diced tomatoes and green onions (more like a taco/burrito bowl in appearance). Although there was a slight butter chicken flavour, the dish had no semblance of butter chicken at all other than the fact that it had rice and chicken in it.
If you're looking for a lovely view, great drinks and good service, then this is the place to visit. If you're looking for great food, I'd try somewhere else.
