"Transforming a military barracks into a luxury hotel isn’t an easy task, particularly when the building, dating from 1699, is so historic that structural changes are forbidden. Fortunately, the design firm of Claesson Koivisto Rune overcame the obstacles, producing a triumph of Swedish style—a modest, minimalist, yet supremely comfortable property housed in two low, long buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very well run hotel in a tranquil and beautiful setting yet central location in Stockholm. The hotel is a member of the Design Hotels group, & they participate in certain aspects of the Marriott Bonvoy program. As a Titanium member, we were given a lovely upgrade with a gorgeous water view (in addition to points), which we certainly appreciated. Breakfast is not one of the included benefits, but we booked a room rate which was comparatively reasonable & included breakfast. Glad we did, because their breakfast buffet is not to be missed! All employees were friendly and professional throughout our stay, and the housekeeping was impeccable. The location of the hotel, within a beautiful walk of the Museum of Modern Art was a lovely benefit- one of the best modern art museums we have visited! The public transportation in Stockholm works brilliantly, & this includes the system of ferries. There is a ferry stop 2 minutes from the hotel as well as the #65 bus, both of which are super convenient. But you can best experience the beauty of this location & enjoy Stockholm on foot. This was a truly memorable experience!

Just had 4 excellent nights here. The location is brilliant - quiet, park like surroundings with the water nearby, yet an easy walk into the centre or a short ferry ride to Gamla Stan or Djurgarden. The staff are excellent: friendly, helpful and relaxed. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed. Breakfasts are copious and we ate twice in the evening in the restaurant which was also good. It was a delightful and comfortable stay. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is quite simply a brilliant hotel on all fronts. Lovely old building which has been beautifully and very sympathetically restored and bought up to modern standards with attractive scandi decor. Lovely views over the water towards the old city. Great location - just 15 minutes walk from the centre and the opera house yet feels another world as on a wooded, tranquil island linked by a bridge. Ferry terminal two minutes walk away to take you to old city and a bus stop next to it if you can’t be bothered to walk into town. Excellent, helpful reception desk. Amazingly good breakfast. And we ate dinner in the restaurant our first night which was also top notch ~ but worth booking as it was full with, we think, lots of locals as well as hotel guests.

This was our second visit to the Hotel Skeppsholmen and it didn’t disappoint! We booked a room with a view across the water which was spacious yet cosy and beautifully furnished with a cool Scandi vibe. The beds are the most comfy of any hotel I’ve visited! Breakfast is such a treat - each table lit by warm candlelight and everything you could want available from the buffet. The staff are all lovely and clearly want all the guests to enjoy their stay. |The location is so peaceful yet you are only a short ferry ride to Gamla Stam/Sodermalm in one direction or a convenient bus ride into the centre of town in the other direction. We used scooters to get about too. I just love this place!

Lots to love about this hotel. The location is beautiful and tucked away from the noise and bustle of central Stockholm. It has been thoughtfully rennovated and the room was spacious and well laid out. Housekeeping was top notch, friendly and the room was spotless. There was very little noise from traffic or other guests, and the restaurant and breakfast were excellent. Transport options are easy to navigate. Breakfast was very good.||Things to note, in the evening the restaurant does get busy so book a table if you want to dine in. Breakfast also gets very busy at certain times and there was no one managing tables so it meant that one morning we couldn't get a table straight away. This could be vastly improved with more coordination. |There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room and there are very few options to pop out to on the island. There is, however, a small seated area in the restaurant where you can grab a hot drink, if you want to. I assume that if we had visited in the summer we could have also sat outside. |The greeting on arrival was a bit perfunctory, and barely covered the basics. Thankfully this wasn't the totality of our experience of the staff while we were there, but it felt a little more like arriving at a bunkhouse than an quality hotel. And to note hotel isn't a single building so you may still need to lug your bags a fair distance to get to your room once you arrive.||On the whole though a very enjoyable stay, in a lovely city. Would recommend. ||Visit: The Vasa Museum, plus both the National Art Gallery and Modern Museet have free entry certain nights of the week and are both within easy walking distance.||Travel: Easy walking distance of most of the main sites, with a bus stop just opposite and a ferry stop at the end of the road.

Great central location to see so many sights. Beautiful setting on a small island in Stockholm. Easy access to ferry and bus to get around the city. Wonderful restaurant, we had dinner one evening and breakfast daily. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Excellent. 12 mins from National Museum, 15 mins walk from Grand Hotel, 20 mins from King's Gardens, 20 mins from Gamla Stan, and 30 ftom Central Station. But Tram 65 does the journey. Very friendly, well-appointed hotel. Nice staff. Nice rooms. Nice breakfast.

This is a fabulous, stylish, beautifully located and well run hotel. It is situated on a quiet island with good transport links by bus or ferry into the heart of Stockholm. The hotel is surrounded by lots of trees and grassy areas with lovey views across the water. |The breakfast is excellent and serves everything you could possibly wish for.|We ate in the restaurant twice in the evening and had delicious meals both times. There was a good choice of vegetarian dishes and the ubiquitous Swedish meatballs were on the menu too. |All the staff were also excellent - all friendly and helpful. We were offered a free room upgrade during our stay. Our first room was adequate for our needs but the second room was considerably more spacious and with a larger shower room. Both room had lovely views over the water.|This is a wonderful hotel in Stockholm that we highly recommend.

The most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful and answered every question I had with no hesitations. The rooms are small for 3 but comfortable for 2 people. I looked forward to the Swedish breakfast that's served 7-10 AM every morning. From fresh coffee to homemade jam to croque miseur you won't be disappointed. There is seating available outside of the cafe which you can sit anytime just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Hope I will be back someday to this wonderful hotel. Thank you Skeppsholmen!

Hotel Skeppsholmen is an awesome hotel tucked away on Skeppsholmen, a little island that is also home to the Moderna Museet and about a 15 min stroll to Old Town. The service is super pleasant and gets even better if you're a longtime SPG member. Rooms are clean, simple and modern. Hallways can get sort of dark, but are very sleek and every section has a sort of a visual lighting art piece that's neat. Breakfast, which is included, is amazing. They have a fabulous spread that includes cured salmon, pate, meat, cucumber, tomato, fish roe, jam, etc. There is also sausages, bacon, and scrambled egg that's cooked to a perfectly solid yet moist level. They have coffee but will also make lattes. And you can construct your own teabags! Wi-Fi is free with no login. If you have a corner room, the corners will have week internet. They also reset the internet every so often, so you have to manually reconnect. If you have an ocean facing room, the view is superb. Otherwise, you can take a easy stroll through their garden during the Summer.

5 star location, 3 star food and 2 star service. I can't comment on the hotel itself as I have never stayed there but the cafe / terrace is what I am referring to. We had a grumpy waiter who did not want to be there. It was a busy afternoon as it was sunny and everyone wanted to be out on the terrace and outdoors. The line up to order was long and it was slow. When we went to order the person behind the bar was really grumpy and dismissive. Anyhow the coffee and cake was nice so I won't give it two stars. I am sure I will be back here again. It's a beautiful location facing the sea.

Hotel Skeppsholmen was an incredible experience during my trip to Stockholm this week. With the warmth of the friendly staff to the simple, comfy but warm interior of my room, and to the wonderful and intimate breakfast experience, Hotel Skeppsholmen exceeded my expectations! When I was looking for hotels in Stockholm prior to my trip, I was debating whether or not to stay in Nörrmalm/Central to be closer to the action at City Center, in Gamla Stan to be closer to old world Stockholm, or in Skeppsholmen for a more peaceful visit-- and I am 100% glad that I chose the more peaceful/restful route. Hotel Skeppsholmen is situated on idyllic Skeppsholmen island which is about a 15 min bus ride (or a 30 min walk) from Centralterminalen and an easy 20 minute walk to Gamla Stan. While Skeppsholmen is slightly a little bit further away from the action near city center, it wasn't really too bad getting around as the island is connected to the rest of Stockholm by a short bridge (Skeppsholmenbron). Hotel Skeppsholmen used to be the living quarters for military/navy back in the day -- so you'll see a great blend of old/traditional with the new/modern. Hotel Skeppsholmen offers complimentary breakfast (the scrambled eggs are really yummy), free wifi, and admission to the Modernamuseet (next door). Definitely a good deal in my books since I saved money not having to pay for breakfast every morning. I stayed in deluxe room 240, which faced the water -- so I had a pleasant view of Södermalm. It was well appointed with what I needed most - lots of towels, bathrobes, and plenty of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, along with a comfy bed with lots of comfy pillows and clean sheets! I typically need earplugs to sleep to block out noise, but Skeppsholmen was so quiet that I didn't need them. I slept fairly well at the hotel, so I was definitely pleased with my experience. I definitely felt recharged every morning when I got up-- with good sleep in a comfy, welcoming environment. Hotel Skeppsholmen offered a unique and pleasant experience for me. I typically like to stay close to a train station when I travel, so staying a little further out on an island was a first for me. From the friendly and warm staff, accommodations, and restaurant -- I felt very comfortable here. In the Danish language, there is a word for cozy warm feel that people get when they visit a cozy place, also know as "hygge" or "hyggelig". Hotel Skeppsholmen definitely gave me that feeling of "hygge". Tack så mycket, Hotel Skeppsholmen for an unforgettable experience!

The Skeppsholmen Hotel is on an island but much closer to the action than you might imagine. From here, it's an easy 10 minute walk to central Stockholm. Culture seekers, take note: the hotel shares the island with the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, the Museum of Modern Art and the Swedish Museum of Architecture. And this 70 room accommodation has some serious history - the two buildings that house the hotel date from 1699! I enjoyed the bath products from Byredo and the welcome amenity: caramels from Pärlans Konfektyr+ (my favorite Swedish sweet). For the business traveler, the wifi is super strong. I should also plug the hotel's restaurant. Like every Scandinavian hotel I've slept with, the breakfast is included and incredible. I also had a really lovely dinner around Christmas and I highly recommend you do the same if you come here in December. Staying at the Skeppsholmen means you'll sleeping in a quiet, pretty paradise whilst still being walking distance away from loads of shopping, drinking and eating. We asked for hotels recommendations in advance from others who had been in Stockholm before and looked at Tripadvisor. Nothing indicated the Skeppsholmen hotel would be the great hotel we enjoyed more than any other in the last few years. It is very centrally located, yet on a quiet green island, 5 minutes walking from Grand Hotel. Alternatively you can take a boat to Sodermalm or the tourist area right across the water. Excellent Duxiana beds, modern bathrooms (Vola faucets), Swedish design throughout the hotel. Thanks to the good weather we could fully enjoy the great terrace where you can have breakfast (included in the room price), indeed of the quality another reviewer already described in detail.

Just stayed there in July. While the location is a bit of a walk from the city center (10 minutes) it is quiet and the staff are extremely nice. Aside from a little challenge to figure out the layout of the place, the food was great and the setting great. We'd stay there again and we are fussy.

This is an awesome restaurant in an awesome location and you should go. You have to go. There's no question that your stay in Stockholm has to include the restaurant at Hotel Skeppsholmen (Langa Raden). Skeppsholmen is a gorgeous and "out of the way" place, the restaurant is a twelve minute walk from The Grand Hotel, a quick bus ride on the #65, but here's a tip: You can take the ferry from Gamla Stan and/or Djurgarden, which is gorgeous. (It's also the price of bus fare). You can also do the Hop On Hop Off thing to get here. However you get here - get here. How good is the food and service? As good as you expect it would be. It is excellent, and it is not expensive (by Stockholm standards). Side note: their mustard sauce took third place in an international competition. I stayed here for a week and ate here two nights (plus every breakfast); I love this place and if you're on vacation, then you should come out to Skeppsholmen and take dinner here, you will not be disappointed!

During our last visit, we stayed in Gamla Stan in a beautiful old hotel Sven but they have limited rooms and didn't have rooms for dates and so we picked this one. We are glad we did. It is located in a peaceful haven close to water but yet in walking distance to the waterfront/Grand hotel and Gamla Stan. Perfect location actually. We didn't use the outdoor facility but they do have tennis courts. We had ordered one room for three of us but found it a bit cramped and so ordered a double separate room for our son, who was thrilled, of course. Rooms are clean, well maintained and the bathrooms are interesting. I am not a fan of sliding doors anywhere and the door to the bathroom kept getting stuck. The closet/wardrobe is not very convenient. If you are the kind of person who likes to unpack in the hotel (like me), there is not much space. I don't know if it was the peak pollen season or the hotel, my husband kept getting congested and didn't sleep well. Didn't affect me and our son. Service was spectacular. Overall, a happy experience.

Wonderful hotel and restaurant. We tried both the superior and the deluxe rooms. They were both quite spacious compared to other european rooms. The superior room had a bathroom that was almost as big as the room, and a cool tub shower. The deluxe room has a tiny bathroom with no tub, and a see through bathroom door and shower to the main room. The view from the deluxe room was delightful, with windows that open out to the ocean and gardens below. The sun also comes in quite powerfully waking you up with a hot force. I had to move down to the bottom of the bed and sleep horizontally. The superior room comes with a regular queen bed. The deluxe room has two twin beds pushed together, and I woke up falling down the middle of the bed. The hotel restaurant is delightful. We had the swedish meatballs, which were fantastic, highly recommended. The only complaint might be the over agressive cleaning staff. They knock and try to enter every fifteen minutes, and there is no "still sleeping" card. So anyone who might be suffering from jetlag might want to call the front desk the night before and just forego the cleaning the first day.

Their breakfast buffet and brunch are top quality and not extremely expensive. A good mix of sweet and salty, all the typical breakfast things plus traditional swedish items. Their bread is extremely good. If you are hungry you should definitely come here. The best hotel breakfast in Stockholm in my opinion. One negative side is that for the past 4 years they have not changed anything from their breakfast or brunch menu, so if you go there a couple of times you will always have the same food. They could try to introduce some new things sometimes.

We arrived by ferry early on a Sunday morning. Their breakfast (opens at 7:30 on weekends) is a perfect way to start the day. Cost: 195 SEK (for non-guests). Such a nice breakfast spread to choose from: - fruit in all forms: whole fruit, fruit salad, fruit juice - yogurt, granola, muesli, with dried fruit and nuts - french toast triangles, scrambled & hard-boiled eggs, bacon, sausages - various meats, cheeses, salmon, even caviar - breads w/ jam (sea buckthorn!), peanut butter, nutella, etc. - all the coffee and tea that you can drink Great atmosphere: Artsy, minimalist, and bright. And very photogenic. I wasn't the only one snapping photos of the breakfast spread and wall decor. Staff were polite and very helpful. Yes, I do believe I'll come back.

What a beautiful place. It's an old military barracks converted to a hotel. Charming vibe, great breakfast, amazing grounds. The hotel is surrounded by walking paths which are perfect for a morning stroll. We had a second story room with a view of the harbor (rm 522) and I honestly wouldn't have changed a thing. The tv didn't work well but if you're here to watch tv, this isn't the place for you anyhow. Katherine and other staff were very helpful and even provided stationary and helped mail our letters and postcards. The on a small island right in the middle of Stockholm within walking distance of just about everything. It's close to everything but far away enough to feel secluded and away from all the city noise. The rooms were clean and comfy. The gym was small with no water station but it did the trick if you're just looking to get a quick work out in. I found a good deal through a booking site and would stay here again and again.

It's a bit unclear what's included in the brunch and a big minus for the bearded waiter who very rudely informed my girlfriend what wasn't included. All in all, we left feeling like we shouldn't have come here.

I feel so grateful to have discovered this hotel from my online research back at home in Seattle. The hotel is located in the middle of Stockholm on a quiet little island. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk along the shore and cross the bridge to get to busy places such as the Grand Hotel or the canal tours. We like to walk so chose not to use the ferry system, but that is an option. The front desk will arrange for that. Although the hotel is not overly stuffy, it feels like a high-end secluded resort, especially with the highly accommodating front desk. Carl helped us quite a bit, making all of our dinner reservations (6 reservations!) and providing useful suggestions. We had a large spacious room on the second floor and a view of the water. I loved waking up and opening the windows and hearing the people in the gardens and courtyard below and seeing the blue water sparkling in the sunshine. We ate in be restaurant quite a bit, eating breakfast daily (delicious!) and a few dinners here, as well. One thing to note: the crowd here is mostly older and everyone dresses well. We felt we stood out a little, especially considering that people in Seattle don't usually dress up on a regular basis. We met people here who return to this location every time they visit Stockholm, for business or pleasure. Hope to be back some day.
