Nice brewery in midtown St. Louis! We were blessed with nice weather, and got to sit outside in the Biergarten and drink their grapefruit radler. I used to drink more, but have cut back significantly in recent years. But I was pleased with everything I tasted there! I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting downtown St. Louis. I had their cheeseburger with string fries for lunch (forgot to take a photo of that—was hungry).

UCBC Midtown has a fantastic patio! Great atmosphere, my husband loves the beers, food options are good too. Patio is very dog friendly.

Exceptional service by the Saturday night crew! Added this as a go to place with the gals - felt safe, serviced with quality food and beer in a timely manner.

Gotta say, favorite Beer hall for the year! I had a beer sampler with a pretzels and a cheeseburger. I have been debating all night which was better the beer cheese or the pretzels?! The beer selection is solid and focuses on German beers. As a soft pretzel fan, I LOVED Chestnuts version of the pretzel. They have a savory and a sweet pretzel, both are amazing and come with either a bier cheese or cream cheese respectively. For the beer sampler I chose lighter beers with the Tangerine Radler being my favorite of the night! All of them were great to drink while unwinding after a long day. Service was very friendly and efficient on processing orders. Atmosphere was great! They have a nice outdoor patio and they have weekly/daily games. When I was there they had Bingo playing. I wish this place was closer to where I live because I would become a weekly patron!

Stopped over for a brat and beer prior to heading to an event. Well, they did not have brats but had burgers and a fish sandwich. We went for it. The burger was blah and overdone but managed to eat it. The fish sandwich was good. Fries were good. Beer was delivered in plastic cups and was ok. The indoor area is very small but people do sit around and play games and it is nice. Outdoors the patio looked nice and had lots of seating. If you go go for beer and maybe a snack and to hang with friends, but probably not for the food as a meal.

Urban Chestnut Biergarten is always a hit, especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. They have a fantastic selection of beer and a nice food menu featuring burgers and various sandwiches – the pulled pork sandwich is a must-try. The bartenders are friendly, and the selection of board games adds a fun touch to the visit. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a beer.

I went to Urban Chestnut Wednesday night bingo several times this summer and would highly recommend. It's free and you get a free 4 pack of beer if you win. Sometimes it's busy, but other times not many people show up (like if it's rainy). Three people win every bingo round so chances are good you win at least once if it's not too crowded. I think I went 3-4 times and multiple people at my table won every time (see the picture for the 3 different packs of beer my friend and I won on one trip). I usually ordered the seasonal frozen drink since I'm not the biggest beer fan and it was always delicious. I've had a couple of their sours which were pretty good as well. They also have a food menu and I've ordered fries for the table which were super thin, crispy and delicious. I've also ordered the caesar salad which was just ok and nothing special. The service is great. The specific staff who run the bingo are super fun and foster a good vibe for bingo. When the weather permitted, bingo was outside and their outside seating is so nice. There are string lights, wooden picnic tables and an outdoor bar.

Urban Chestnut is a beautiful brewery! There is tons of outdoor seating including a beautiful courtyard. I got the Champagne of the North to drink. It was very good. Defintley check this place out!

I visited Urban Chestnut before a show at the Fox recently. The location is great, as it was a convenient walking distance away, which was nice. Service was quick - you order at the front and they deliver food to your table. I don't normally drink beer but got the Zwickel Light and really enjoyed it! For food, I got the classic burger which was delicious! Bun a bit much for burger which is a pet peeve of mine but not a big deal! My date got the pulled pork sandwich which was a special and also delicious. We split fries - shoestring, PERFECT. Aioli was great too! I would definitely return!

I came to UCBC Midtown for a happy hour and enjoyed my time. This location has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and currently offers food from Niche Food Group. They are most well known for their fried chicken sandwich, brass burger, and shoe string fries. Today I did not order any food but did order a beer. I got their Munich Lager Octoberfest and it was a nice refreshing drink, perfect for a Friday happy hour. The beer was well priced and I got a giant portion for only $5. I look forward to coming here more in the summer and enjoying some time on their outdoor patio!!

Another stop on the beer passport. Parking out front was paid parking g but there is some free parking on the streets nearby. Very nice bier garden area but could use a little more love on plants in the garden (or maybe a little water). Good beer selection and a good but limited food selection. Bartender was very nice and helpful and we ordered food as well. All 3 of us ordered the burger and shared a huge basket of shoestring fries. All very delicious. Only our second time going, but very nice on a nice day!

I went to Urban Chestnut on a Thursday specifically to eat the Brass Burger. Just my luck the fryer was down and there were no French fries. Sad face. I ordered the double Brass Burger (2 beef patties, American cheese, house pickles, onions, and Dijonnaise) and the Non-Alcoholic Pilot Lager. I enjoyed the lager. I absolutely love this burger. It's dreamy. I love the thickness of the patties, the way the American cheese gets melty, the thinness of the pickles and onions, and the creamy Dijonnaise. It's a pretty perfect cheeseburger. She took a pretty picture. I'm sure I'll be back!

Brass Burger + Urban Chestnut Beer = YUM When Brass Burger left Rockwell we were heartbroken. Now that they've got a pop up kitchen at Midtown's Urban Chestnut we are happy again! Great place to meet friends or coworkers for a happy hour and a bite to eat. The fries are some of our favorite in St. Louis and the burgers are perfectly proportioned to taste delicious and fill you up! The n/a beer was the perfect touch to round out the meal. Service is good and easy--order at the bar and then grab your food when you receive a text. I hope the partnership continues, but if not make sure to get there before Brass Burger's stay is up!

I've always preferred UCBC's biergarten in midtown to the hall in the Grove. The patio is so lovely when the weather is nice and the inside is so cozy when it's not. All of their beers are fantastic (my personal favorite will always be Zwickel). The food is casual and tasty (though I wish the burgers were less greasy - can we drain these patties a bit? ). Love coming here on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the fall especially for bingo or trivia nights. It's also a nice quite bite to eat and drink before heading to the Fox for a show - bonus that it's within walking distance. I always recommend this place for any out of towners wanting a taste of the local beer scene.

I've been coming here for years! I cannot believe it has taken me this long to write a review. There is a huge outdoor biergarten. There's even a separate bar outside so you don't have to go all the way inside to order another bevvy. Visit in the summer and there are umbrellas up to keep you shaded. Come in the winter and there are fire pits to keep you warm. They usually have live music or trivia outside, too. Super dog friendly! As of January 2022, they have revamped their food menu: They still have pretzel sticks, but now they have wings, burgers, and fries. I loved their Izzy Burger on a brioche bun with provolone, bacon & caramelized onions. But if you aren't feeling that, you can also order from the make-your-own-burger menu. And controversial opinion: these may be the best fries St. Louis. Stop by Thursday through Sunday and try them yourself. Let me know if I'm right or if we need to fight. Their hours open up in the summer.

Upon arrival, we parked and began to walk toward restaurant and the smell of raw sewage was horrible. We ended up having step over a flowing stream of what t appeared and smelled like toilet water coming from the building. Then we walked into their other building by mistake, not knowing it was the wrong place where I was rudely met by the woman in charge of a private party, abrasively proclaiming that this was a private and event and that we shouldn't be there. I then found my way to o the other building where my family and I walked in and waited for about 10 minutes for someone to take a drink order and bring a menu. It never happened, even though at least 3 employees saw us enter. We got up and left. I used to enjoy the beer from this local establishment but an no longer a fan.

First time coming. I sat at the Bar for about 5 minutes or longer mind you there were not a lot of people at the bar. A Caucasian lady walked up and was approached immediately. She then pointed at me as if she was saying she was here first. The guy then came over to me. I stated that you've been ignoring me since I've been here. Never again. I definitely will not be back!!!!!! If I could give them a Zero I would

Cool ambience, the menu will not disappoint. Good for groups or dates. Take yourself on a self guided brewery tour! Dog friendly porch was perfect for us.

Had a blast at the Barktoberfest fundraiser for Humane Society! I highly recommend the Stammtich German Pilsner!

Cool little spot with a nice biergarten. Love Music and beer. They run out of the wussy beer (radler) and all they have is pretzels and brats. But it's not bad. Not great but good and I recommend it if you wanna try something new and fresh.

My wife and I were in St. Louis and saw this brewery nearby. We paid to park at the meter because the eight parking spaces were full. We entered and it was pretty dark and I ordered an IPA. The staff didn't seem to grateful to have us there. I took my beer outside and it was pretty good. I liked the outside seating, but nothing screamed special to me. I only had one beer, just because I wasn't getting a really good "Vibe" Nothing bad, but nothing special. The bartender attitude kind of turned me off.

The atmosphere was wonderful. The beer tasted great, and the food with salted butter was truly delicious. The bartender outside could have been better if he used his happy face and friendly personality.

I was surprised by how empty it is because its such a cute place! Inside was closed with a sign saying food and drinks are being served outside. Awesome little biergarten and delicious beer. I had the hazy ipa which was pretty light for an ipa but still citrusy and easy to drink on a nice summer night. Acoustic singer playing. Great atmosphere, friendly service.

Fantastic Beers and great atmosphere. Like a real German beer hall. It's the only craft brewery I know that has a second location in Germany.

All Four Seasons of the Year, Anytime of the Day of Night, I am down for a trip to Urban Chestnut. I love both locations for separate reasons. This location should really be everyone's First Urban Chestnut experience. When you open the door from the inside bar going out the Beer Garden it feels like you are being transported to a different place. The white washed walls, brick, wooden outdoor tables, and string lights just make me want to spend hours talking with friends and family like we are on vacation. Bring friends and share a pretzel board. We always end up ordering extra pretzels for our group. This location has a smaller kitchen and less food offering than The Grove UC. This location actually is great for a working lunch, or even Take Out Lunch for an Office Group. I really like the Pick Two Lunch Option here. The Pick Two lets me sample more items each time I come on the Menu that gets updated Monthly. The Potato Salad is my favorite side. My current favorite Beers are the Big Shark Lemon, Zwickle, and Urban UnderDog.

I am definitely going to have to come back here ima warm day and check out that gorgeous patio! I just popped in for a quick bite with my mom. Had some great food; Caesar turkey sandwich, smoked trout dip, and sun choke soup. All where delicious. I also had their cherry sour, yummy. One tiny thing, my mom doesn't really drink and I know this is a brewery but it would been nice to be able to have a coffee, hot or iced tea, lemonade or some other beverage than just water and soda (she doesn't drink soda). She likes going to breweries and I drink but she stays chill. Maybe, you guys can add or even partner with the coffee spot next store?

We held a wonderful graduation party here. Perfect in every way. Fun for all ages. I can't express how accommodating the staff was. Incredibly helpful and fun. They made our day. If you question me, go there and be impressed by the fantastic staff. Thank you Adam

Great place for a beer and burger! Trivia on Thursdays and a pretty beer garden. Also a great spot for a bite before a Fox Theater show.

Spacious indoor and outdoor beer hall with an excellent selection of beers that you will find on menus around the city. We came here with 40 friends for beer after a wedding rehearsal dinner. Particularly enjoyed the O-Katz, but highly recommend tasting a flight. The bar is very long and well staffed. It was surprisingly un-crowded for a Friday night in October.

By far the best brewery I visited in Saint Louis on my trip. I didn't sit outside in the beer garden area because it was just me and my buddy and sitting at the bar is better. When I went they had two different versions of their Radler and there was some friendly back and forth with our bartender about which was better. I mean, either way you're winning because they're good beers. We didn't have the food there but that's because we had just come from lunch but saved room for beer. The beers are good, approachable and are inventive enough that I could see myself coming back to see what they have. Service, like I said before was good. I wanted to take some beers back to Chicago and he pointed out which beers could be found there so I could go back with stuff I wouldn't normally find and swapped breweries for his visit to Chicago.

Great Octoberfest at UCBC. They have plenty of seating in multiple areas including a very large tent so shade is available. And of course they have plenty of beer. Several different bars makes getting your beer quite convenient. Food options are what you would expect with brats etc. fresh sauerkraut was available for the brats. The pretzels were delicious served with a lovely mustard, slightly sweet and spicy. When I arrived there was a rock band on stage but then a German band took over for evening.

We stopped here for lunch while visiting St Louis. They had a fun beer selection and food options. We had our dog with us, and the outdoor patio was perfect! She was able to lay in the shade while we had a casual beer and lunch. They had dog bowls and it was super dog friendly.

DEF the Urban Chestnut location to go! Great patio, great people, usually live music on the weekends and maybe even a food truck! Parking has never been an issue and the food is a great pairing with the tasty brews!

Visited Urban Chestnut Brewing Company on Thursday night. It was getting late so only got to order one Flight. Quality Urban Chestnut Brewing Company has an interesting style, but not one that I was a fan of. They basically split their beers into two categories, beers based entirely off of European tradition and beers that look to modernize and grow on those traditions. I tried four of the selections they had on tap Winged Nut, STLIPA, and Prickly Pear Ku'Damm from the new style and Innovator from the old. My highlight was the Prickly Pear Ku'Damm, a sour beer based on a traditional Berliner weisse. It was red in color and had the perfect amount of tartness. Unfortunately that is where the good ends. I did not really enjoy any of the other beers I tried. Innovator, a Belgian dark strong ale, came across as almost syrupy to me, I did not enjoy the grapefruit that overwhelmed STLIPA, and Winged Nut, a chestnut ale was heavy in nuttiness, just not in an enjoyable way. Quantity While they have Flights, they do not come with any fancy gimmicks like other breweries. It is just four surprisingly large pours of different beers served in a holder. Value The Flight I ordered was only $8, a great deal considering the extra large pours. Drafts were $6 or $7 depending on the selection. Ambiance Urban Chestnut Brewing Company has two locations in the St. Louis area. I visited the one in the midtown. Apparently the big different is this location has an outdoor biergarten and the other location has a massive bierhall. I also believe this location has a smaller food menu and less beers on tap. Even though my visit was later in the evening it was still very hot out, so I could not enjoy the outdoor area, but I did take a peek at the beautiful space. It is definitely a place I could imagine hanging out when the weather was nice. And while the indoor area may not have the wow factor of the other location, I found it very comfortable. A small bar on the back wall with a television, some scattered tables, and video games in the corner gave it neighborhood bar vibes. I also loved the brick walls and the all around retro feel. The coolest aspect was that they were playing classic records. It meant more work for the bartenders, but there is just something special about hearing music the way it was meant to be played. I'm not sure if that is an every night affair, but it should be. Crowd When I arrived there were only two small groups still hanging out. One inside near the video game system and another in the outdoor beer garden. Because of the cool outdoor area, I assume that this location is a hot spot for day drinking when the weather is nice. And when it is less pleasant I feel like folks probably head over to their other location that has the massive bierhall. Service Two guys were hanging out behind the bar. They were both very friendly, but I could sense they were anxious to go home. Nevertheless they were happy to help me select some beers for a Flight and offered suggestions of other places to check-out in St. Louis during my short visit. Parking The brewery has a small private parking lot directly in front of the building. For busier times there appeared to be a good deal of metered street parking in the area. Extra There is no doubt that Urban Chestnut Brewing Company's midtown shop has an awesome space. The outdoor area and the use of vinyl are huge draws in my book. In the end though you come for the beer, and I just was not into what I tried. It may be that their adherence to traditional was out of my wheelhouse so I could not appreciate what it was. But in my book they fell in the lower tier of breweries I visited while in St. Louis.

If you are looking for great beer and fun times, go visit Urban Chestnut. Their beer hall is great! Lots of open seating inside and out. Their crafted beers are very tasty. If you want to grab a bite to eat, I highly recommend their delicious food. I like the soft pretzels and their Smash Burger. The burger is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The only negative is the burger does NOT come with mustard. If you spend over $10 for a burger, mustard shouldn't cost an additional $1. Bring your own mustard I guess.

Good snacks and beer variety. The pretzel and nacho snacks were good. The butter with the pretzel is very salty. I suggest the mustard and the cheese for the pretzels. The nachos are nothing special but are not bad. The beer! It is the reason why you go. I suggest trying a flight to find your favorite beer. The Zwickle is our personal favorite . I will always recommend it. Our friend like the wing nut though.

This was the very first place I dined out at with my folks on move in day to STL! Just walking distance from my apartment in The Grove and a happening outdoor patio, we said why not?! Glad we did as this was a great place to break the foodie ice! Cool laid back vibe, busy with other locals getting their beer fix on and some good eats from what I could see. A weekend retreat for sure! It was a Friday evening when we came in and found the place busy but not packed. Our service was great for drinks (I don't do beer but sours I do indulge now and again) so that's what I went with. I don't recall the name but it was the only sour they had on this visit. I would get it again whatever it was lol? The menu is unique in that its all German themed which I love! Ethnic themed foods that have authenticity always something I look for. I found it here with my half roasted chicken over barley salad and my amazing plate of heirloom tomatoes. Both winners in my book! Service was helpful and tuned into the menu as we asked questions on what we wanted and what they had. Service is pretty quick in that we had our buzzer go off 15 minutes after placing order even when busy. Being just a hop-skip and jump from home, this place will be a mainstay weekend pit stop for me on food alone, perhaps even a few more sours at that.

Had the hazy IPA, Very good, citrusy summer drinkable vibe. While here a small polka band played. Fun time . I'll be back.

I was here for the Night at the Brewseum, History of Beer Caves (or some title similar to that, lol). It was in the Barrel Room and was quite crowded, but everyone was super friendly, so it was nice. The bartenders were friendly and pretty fast, considering it was so busy that night. The pretzels and assorted dipping items were delicious, especially dipping my pretzel stick in the butter, yum!

Absolutely loved this brewery!! We were in town for the weekend and were looking to try out breweries in the area. The atmosphere is very urban and laid back. Their outdoor bier garden was so much fun and would be perfect for bringing the dog along with you! We decided to try out a flight, and I was so happy I did. Pro tip: their prickly pear beer is SO good! Honestly all of the beers we had here we both enjoyed! We didn't stay too long but if we are back in the area we will likely end up back here. One of my favorite things we did in St. Louis!

Craft beer, hearty snacks, tunes, games if you want them, more beer if you don't. Midtown is simply the kind of place that perfectly balances clean/cool atmosphere while feeling like you are at your corner bar with Norm, Cliff, Sam, Woody and Diane. The beer selection is extremely solid, featuring an array of classic German styles with a few seasonal varieties. This is a good thing, because I heard the Germans are pretty adept at making beer. The food, solid and predictable. Fresh sandwiches and hearty pretzels on point, but really, you're there for the beer anyway! UCBC Midtown knows they make good beer. They just built an environment for you to enjoy everything else at the same time. PS... wicked beer garden!

Great place. The beer halls remind me of a German beer Haus. Very cool. Since InBev bought out Budweiser. And the whole thing is a Belgium company this feels like the NEW home town brewery. I miss the oysters they used to sell with the beers. It was so cool. This is a STL staple. Try the URB research room across the street to give your guest that insider buzz we all want to feel.

Went here late this afternoon and loved it. I had an awesome beer that was full bodied and tasted a bit like banana...yummm it was called Schnickelfritz---which is fun to say and even better once you had several....the husband had a couple beers and the last one he got called the Wolpertinger was served in a snifter glass and had a strong taste of bourbon...a little strong for me but he loved it. We had the warm pretzel which was very tasty and some billy goat chips and a sausage board.... as I read some of my fellow yelper's reviews I laughed because I too was sitting inside planning a little intimate wedding....the space is just that damn cool.....I really like the vibe here and we were able to play some jenga at the table---I would like to round up some more board games and either travel with them in my trunk for next time or donate a couple yatzee's and things to the brewery......

I am a scotch drinker. I heavily favor Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and McCallan. I haven't been much of a beer drinker in the last two decades. Why then am I writing a review of a microbrewery? Mainly because a friend from college was in town and we decided to go a few places on a dreary Saturday afternoon. He's a beer aficionado and I'm generally game for an outing. Their pub area is small and cozy with seating for no more than about 30. The old tables and chairs give it a more timeless feel. I really appreciated the lack of televisions and loud music. This is a place for people who like beer and don't want a lot of distractions when they are enjoying their beer. This is also a place to go if you want to discuss beer. Again, I'm not really much of a beer drinker but I certainly appreciated this place for being exactly what it is - a place to enjoy high quality craft brews in the company of others with the same goal. It is worth noting that they serve the sampler in 3-ounce servings. What a great way to try a number of their offerings without having to worry about getting rocked and needing to call a cab! My friend and I both opted for a sampler so that we could each try a greater percentage of their offerings. My likes and dislikes are largely irrelevant for the purposes of this review as their selections seem to change regularly. That said, I identified myself as a scotch drinker to one of the bartenders and asked her to pick my four beers for me. She selected one that had a very nutty taste, one that had a healthy wheat taste and one that was more fruity. The 4th glass contained a hard cider that I liked quite a bit more than those you see advertised on tv. I really liked the thicker feel and more intense apple taste! I previewed the place on Yelp before going so I knew that I was going to order the mixed board. It came with 4 different meats, an equal number of cheeses and a variety of cracker-type things. It also came with a few varieties of nuts, olives and dried fruit. Finally, there was a small chunk of honeycomb oozing a beautiful amber honey. Needless to say, there was quite a lot going on with the mixed board! I really would have appreciated a tour of everything on the board but that was not to be - when I asked for some insights into what we were served, I received a response of "not sure, they put it together in the back" with no additional follow-up. Oh well, everything was yummy even if we didn't really know what it was. My very favorite bite was the cured, smoked ham. It had that heartiness you get in an aged cured ham layered on top of the beautiful smokiness with a little extra saltiness to really bring everything together. Shaved thin enough to make the small ribbons of fat translucent, it was porcine perfection. It brought back memories of several European trips all in one bite.

Great patio perfect for spending an afternoon. I'm new to STL from California so I learned about washers here watching a group play it. My whole group got beer samplers- 4 samples for $6. The pours were great. I can't wait to go back and try other beers.

Came here from out of town from Los Angeles. We already knew we liked schnickelfritz and wanted to check this place out. Definitely enjoyed the beer. The service not so much. The dude serving was grumpy and making faces and actually made a comment about pouring our beers. The girl taking orders was not friendly and aggressive. Been to many brewrys but this one was odd. I guess come for the beer but dont expect good service.

I came here for Barktoberfest like we do every year. I love the outdoor seating area with convenient outside bar. Im not a big fan of German style beers and in the past at this event we could get any beer they were serving outside. This year it was their traditional Zwickel, Schnickelfritz, and Oktoberfest. I got a Zwickel but I'm not a big fan of those beers. The only beer I really love of theirs is actually their cider which is really good! Despite this not being my favorite beer style (just personal preference) I really like hanging out here!

Went on a Saturday night and had a great time. They had a good selection of food and beers to choose from. No servers, you go up to the bar to order but we got drinks and our meat and cheese tray quickly. There was a good crowd there but it wasn't too busy. There was also live music and board games available to play.

My new favorite brewery! All wood on the inside with different shape/sizes of tables & selection of games to play. Beer is sooo good and the menu gives you a full description of each and the backstory. We also got the pretzels that came with butter, mustard, and cheese (cheese was the best part!). Will definitely be back to check out the patio

Good beers, about half the menu is usually seasonals/rotators. Smallish food menu is solid if a little pricey for how much you get. Kitchen can be slow/forget orders when it's busy, but nothing horribly out of the ordinary, and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The best part of this location (particularly compared to the Grove location) is the patio, which has its own bar (only open sometimes) as well as a stage.

Love the outdoor beer garden set up, great to hit up on a hot day. They were out of the Dunkel! so mad, i'll grab it next time. Great oktoberfest beer, had to get a literstein of that its one of the better ones out there. Limited food items, got the hot pretzel which was good. Pretty simple set up of grab a table and go up and order at the window. Dog friendly patio which was really nice also. Great German beers they had going, while not super exciting they are superbly made and authentic tasting.
