"Berns Hotel The Berns knows how to party. A Gilded Age palace of luxury and hospitality in the center of Stockholm , the opulent building began life in 1863 as a restaurant, before transforming into a hot nightlife spot. When it was reinvented as a decadent boutique hotel filled with understatedly luxurious modern decor (there’s that signature Scandinavian style), the Berns combined those pasts, opening not only one of the city’s top restaurants—in a previous iteration, Asiatiska was Sweden’s first Chinese restaurant—but some of its coolest bars and dance clubs, one of its most sought-after concert venues, and some of its most exclusive electronic music clubs. Suffice it to say that, although the gilded, airy main bar and dining room is always lively, filled with attractive, designer-clad Swedes, the building practically buzzes come evening. Not that any of this scene disturbs the rooms upstairs, because the second most important part of a good night out is a good sleep, and the Berns doesn’t disappoint there, either."

Fashion Illustrator Jenny Walton On Her Favorite Stockholm Spots

"The Berns Hotel, which is really old and beautiful, and has this grand, ornate dining room with a gorgeous staircase. It's the kind of place you picture when you dream of a hotel in Europe. It’s next to the Hallwyl Museum, a late-19th-century home filled with gorgeous portraits, and is within walking distance of the Fotografiska contemporary photography museum."

"Since the 19th Century, Berns Hotel has been one of Stockholm’s most desirable addresses, with its Belle Epoque exterior and an opulent interior to match — in fact the Red Room was the setting for August Strindberg’s novel of the same name." - Tablet Hotels

The location was great, beautiful hotel in the city center. Very close to high end shops. |The hotel was very clean and elegant. The breakfast was amazing, and the room spectacular. |My room was great, very clean and spacious bathroom. We had a delicious dinner with 55 people and they all loved it! |The service at the front desk was perfect. I would highly recommend this hotel when you visit Stockholm!

The hotel was amazing. The staff was personable and friendly and extremely helpful. The reservation personnel were always smiling and asking if I needed any help with anything. They guided me with my transportation needs, including setting up a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The ginger shot lady before going into breakfast was very friendly and kind. Isabella "Izzy" was excellent and also very kind and friendly. She was doing a lot of multitasking at breakfast time, but always had a smile and wonderful nature about her. She helped me with some places to go, and her recommendations were great. I would rate her a 10 out of 10. The gentleman who worked at breakfast also was kind enough to write a few places down for me.

We stayed for one weekend and everything worked smoothly. Our room was newly renovated and well kept. All of staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious and seating spacious. The noise of the nightclub was audible all the way to the room which we were aware of. But I don’t find it too loud for sleeping. We did also visit the night club but found it a bit pricey and too noisy/restless. Wouldn’t be my first choice for night life.

Went to a koncert, got taken out back for no apparent reason and the security couldn't give me one either. I have never experienced such rude and aggressive security guards before, did the opposite of de-escalating, security only tried to get physical and not explaining what was happening. Apparently the security live under their own laws.... Can't ever recommend this venue to anyone

We really enjoyed the hotel. The location was excellent, the rooms were nice, and the blankets and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast was great – there was truly everything you could wish for.

I used to stay at Berns for many years, but then took a break from the establishment. Now very happy to be back as a loyal traveler. I love the friendly staff, the nice cosy rooms and the amazing breakfast. |For me the location is also key, you cannot get anymore central, yet a bit away from the street noice in Berzelii Park.

Had the most incredible stay at Berns with my partner. The rooms, the service, the staff, the food - everything was exceptional. From the team at the front desk to the waiters in their beautiful restaurant, everyone was so friendly, helpful and professional. We felt very well taken care of and they really did that ”extra” that makes a hotel stay so memorable. I can’t wait to book our next stay!

Yelp
Charming. Excellent staff. Perfect location. Traditional European breakfast. All other food is Asian.

Yelp
Great hotel. Very friendly staff within a great location of everything. The room I was in was spacious. The bathroom/shower was tiny though. I know it's a European thing to have swinging doors right next to the sink, but it was quite difficult to open the shower doors without hitting the sink. The only MAJOR issue I had with the hotel was the rooftop bar. You have to get a room key to go to the top floor...and they have a large bar with open seating, and a great view. BUT, they are VERY loud...they have loud music playing until 1 in the morning...all the guests can hear that rooftop bar. Not appropriate.

Yelp
Major construction making it very difficult to reach hotel via car. Showed up at 23:00 and the person covering for the check in person was only capable of saying the person in charge would be back soon. Finally get to talk to the check in person who does not know anything about parking in Stockholm. Seriously, at that location and your staff know nothing about Stockholm parking?!?!? Get to the room and AC=ambient out door temperature. In other words, AC does not exist. Granted it rarely gets hot enough to need it but during this heatwave of the century AC is needed. Want ice? They will bring it to your room ie you need to tip(I gave 50SKR). I would rather have free ice down the hall. This said they have great ice made in big old school cubes. Room is small but nicely done. Good noise control considering the music is pounding outside. I would love to give five stars. I would like to give four stars. I can at this time only give three stars. Having the most basic parking information and a map would bring this to 4. Add some top service and ac that works and it could be a five. Some day maybe. In the mean time keep riding your laurels historical significance. Those in the past would/are rolling in their graves.

Yelp
Why 5 star you ask? Well.... ok first is the staff, what a great staff. They treat you like they know you. You are not just another tourist, always smiling and talking. Hands down the best staff I've ever dealt with. Second; location location location. In the middle of evening. Third; the rooms. Usually in Europe the rooms are small, but my room was very specious, I got the superior room and it's great Very clean as well. What else.... oh yeah, they have this amazing bar/restaurant/hall/breakfast room/ it's everything. Berry happening, lots of people lots of fun. (See pic) So that's why they get 5 stars.

Yelp
If you have food alergies avoid this hotel's breakfast. They don't have any indication on the food or the staff cares about you. I am hugely disappointed by mostly the attitude of the staff. I don't think we ll pass by again. And honestly, this happens in Sweden of all all places and this hotel is a rather expensive one.

Yelp
The Berns is a very classy and elegant hotel where we checked in for our first night in Stockholm. It has an old European charm and glamor feel to it. They have a beautiful restaurant and club downstairs, and if you are a guest, you have access to with no problem. There are beautiful chandeliers if you take a peek in. It's pretty centrally located near the Berzelii Park and is easy to walk around the city from here. It's located right across from the Book of Mormon theater. The rooms are a little cozy in size, but it was still very comfortable and had a mini living room. It was very clean and we felt rested. Our quaint and airy room had access to a little outdoor patio which was really nice. We also really enjoyed the staff here as they were very friendly and accommodating- they go above and beyond here. With our hotel package, we received VIP wrist bands to go to an assortment of clubs and bars in the area. This was part of the reason why we decided to stay here for a night. Well, we had a really terrible experience at the club that we chose to go to (read my SPY BAR review) which was also recommended by the staff here as a good hot spot. Upon our return, they asked us if we had any fun and we were simply very honest with our poor experience with the listed club. The concierge felt really terrible (even though our incident had absolutely nothing to do with the hotel but rather really horrible patrons at the club) and offered to extend passes for us for the next evening, even though we were going to check out by then already. It was incredibly sweet and kind of them and they really should be highlighted for their customer service. The people at Berns Hotel really make you feel welcome in Stockholm. Our stay here might have been short but it was very lovely. Thank you for a great experience staying with you! I highly recommend others to stay here as well- the experience was very pleasant.

Yelp
Berns in Berzelii Park is a little gem and well liked by the starts and celebrities that require a bit more anonymity than the Grand Hotel can offer. The decor is grandious and ambient even. The bar is buzzing and the grand hall with the amazing chandaliers is a vision of a life more grander in the past times. The restaurants are beautiful, but I have never been very impressed by the Asiatiska. The Bistro is much better. However, the bar is so immaculately decadent that a drink there will turn any day into a sultry evening in no time. The terrace is great during the summer months. The public spaces are so beautiful that the rooms are a slight disappointment - however clean and efficient they are. Berns' brand new premises on Norrlandsgatan 24 has now opened its doors and features the amazing restaurant and bar Nosh and Chow. In addition, an exclusive speakeasy bar Bernie's Bar has opened in the yard house.

Yelp
Smallest bedroom ever I have stayed here before and had a decent room, but this was more of a cuboard. and two of the plugs did not work

Yelp
A beautiful hotel, in a beautiful building with a lot to offer. The rooms are very nice and quite spacious - comfortable beds! There are lovely restaurants with excellent food Of course, some of Stockholms best nightclubs are located inside this hotel as well... The service is very good! The location is prime - close to the water and walking to great shopping, restaurants, museums... You can get some decent prices on the rooms as well!

Yelp
This is a review of the nightclub and bar, not the hotel or restaurant. I've always had a fun time at Berns. I haven't been in the winter when I hear it is much busier but it gets pretty busy as the night goes on in the Summer. The entrance fee is absurd and the drinks are outrageously expensive (my friend got the 300kr Long Island Ice Tea and I think was so depressed that he had paid so much for a drink, that he went home after finishing it, lol) but so is every other place in Stockholm. I've always thought the people I've talked to there were pretty nice but of course, like in every club, there are some douchy guys and snobby girls as well. One night that I was there the girl I was talking to pointed out a couple of Swedish celebrities so apparently it's enjoyed by a lot of types. The dance floor on the entry level is pretty huge and fun. Music has been hit or miss on the times I've been there. It's never been amazing but one time it was just horrible in the bar section. Never been into the "guest list" section downstairs but I've had some disputes with the bouncers there. One super bitch who basically went out of her way to try and make me feel bad about myself for absolutely no reason. But most of the Berns staff just seem kind of out of the way and busy. I read a lot about rude bouncers on power trips in Stockholm but for the most part any bouncer I've tried to talk to has been cool and just doing their job. Mostly... Yeah, get a little dressed up and go hang out in Berns and try your luck talking to some strangers. You're going to open a black hole in your bank account but I've never had a bad night here.

Yelp
One of the worst experiences ever in the restaurant. Food came out cold and was very, very late. The staff was far more interested in being right and arguing than making it right. Stay away!!
