Fantastic brunch earlier today. The service was really good, very attentive. Smashed Acocado + several cappuccino’s (which actually were perfection ☕️)

Bukowski has a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, making it a nice spot to grab drinks with friends or start your evening out. The terrace is definitely a highlight, especially on sunny days, and the location is convenient. The cocktails are well made and there’s a good variety of drinks to choose from. However, during peak hours the service can become a bit slow. The staff is friendly, but at times they seem quite busy, which affects the overall experience. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a fun and relaxed vibe, though there’s still some room for improvement in speed and consistency of service.

Disappointed with our visit. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold, and despite mentioning it to our server several times—noting that we had a baby with us—our concerns were completely ignored. There was zero effort to make us comfortable or offer a solution. To make matters worse, the service overall was inattentive. We came for a cozy meal but left feeling cold and frustrated.

I’ve been here a few times, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is always vibrant and welcoming to everyone, with excellent service from the charming staff. The vibe is hip yet relaxed — I just stopped in for a coffee and an incredibly tasty chicken sandwich. A real hidden gem right next to Oosterpark.

Really nice, welcoming place. Good atmosphere, good music. Can get quite busy. We sat upstairs, nice and comfy. Reasonably priced with very nice staff. Worth a visit if youre near Oosterpark.

One of the worst brunch experiences I’ve had in a long time. The staff were unnecessarily rude and clearly inexperienced. They could really benefit from some serious customer-service training — or at least an attitude adjustment. This place might be great for evening drinks, but I’d strongly advise against coming here for brunch

O stumbled upon this place because it was in the neighborhood where I was staying. I wanted a quick breakfast and it was a very pleasant surprise. I got a green shake with kale, apple, and a banana, with lots of pulp. Very refreshing! For the main course, I had a coconut yogurt and a fresh fruit bowl. It was the perfect amount , very fresh, and flavorful. Very fast service. I'm very pleased and would definitely come back to see what they have in store for dinner.

Very nice place, right by the street with outside seats which is very nice and you can have a very nice drink and people watch. We got the nachos which were really nice. The drinks were also good

I stopped in here with some friends when staying around the corner at a hostel. The dirty chia is the star of the show here, you have to get it, it's delicious. The apple loaf cake is also very good but sweet so maybe split it with a friend. It's definitely better than the lemon cake although the lemon cake wasn't bad either. Our food was relatively good, no real complaints but also no real stars besides the apple cake either, we did only try two things so there could definitely be some hidden gems on the menu we didn't get to. The service was excellent, the place had a good atmosphere. Over all pretty good brunch spot with an amazing dirty chia.

This is the cutest place! They have really cute and comfortable decor and the art on the walls is really fun. I came here for breakfast and had their avocado toast, it was huge a delish. If you're nearby, give this place a try.

Delicious breakfast! Generous portions and high quality. Eggs Benedict was SO good. Not usually a fan of ham, but it was perfect here. Asparagus omelet was also delicious. I think the oatmeal with almond milk was maybe the best I've ever had, and that's saying a lot because I am an oatmeal snob- I make it for myself almost everyday for breakfast and pretty much never order it out because it's normally too sweet, too mushy, too runny, too something... but this bowl of oatmeal was perfection. Loved all the fruit toppings... never would have thought to top oatmeal with grapes but I'm on board! Coffee was also good, and the complimentary little breakfast cookie/muffin that came with it was probably the best I had in Amsterdam. On top of the delicious food, the service was friendly and prompt. Enjoyed the outdoor seating on the beautiful morning we came. This place is small with limited tables, but luckily there wasn't a wait on the Friday morning we came.

Weather was nice, food was great and service was excellent. What more can you ask for? I had the açai bowl, delicious and filling. Friends ordered the Atlantic egg Benedict, omelet and American pancake, all were excellent!

Chill spot. Seat yourself. English and Dutch menus which is helpful for those is us new to the Dutch language. Won't be forever but for now ;) The order of fries is huge. FYI. The spring rolls are tiny and crispy and the chicken nuggets are just like they sound. The pace is chill and relaxed which I like. The coffee is good. I want to come back as I hear so many great things of this place and I'm looking for the hype still! But a great neighborhood spot nonetheless.

Very good food, cool ambience, free wifi, lovely service. So we went there for several breakfasts in a row! Their smashed avocado toast (with feta cheese: inspired) and eggs benedict are spectacular. My son loved, loved their pancakes. Croque madam was pretty good too. Even their yogurt and granola with fruits was great. They also serve good coffee. One day my son had the pulled chicken sandwich but he thought it could use more flavor: either sweet or spice. Do not order the french toast rollups. Worst item on the menu.

Omg! Belinda Carlisle must've created this restaurant because Heaven is a Place on Earth, for sure! First, the decor is amazingly vibrant and hippy chic, the 3 levels of dining (one of which is cantilevered) and even an awesome translucent step so you can see into the kitchen. Oh! And the food is suuuuuper yum! Def go here for breakfast, def def def!!! Ce súper magnifique!

Usually when reviewing a place, I try to have some light fun remarks here and there. I may not always get it, but at least the intention is there. The thing is, I have zero witty comments to make on this fine establishment. Everything is just great, had to go there twice in a week. Now, this review could very easily end here but let's milk it some more: - The location is great, right by Oosterpark. - For the stingy people (looking at you, guy in the mirror), it's not expensive at all. - The food is not only tasty but damn, it *looks* the part! I wish the pictures did it justice but the meals are even better when seen live. It is so idyllic that makes you feel sorry for ruining the dish, but at some point someone's gotta give up in the staring contest, and I guess I lost (won) because I blinked (ate) what was in front of me (om nom). - The friendliest staff! This is especially valued here in NL where the service industry still lags behind that of other places (sorry dutchies, I really think you're the best, but search your feelings, you know it to be true! #useTheForceLuke). - It's huge, so great for groups. - Dogs are welcome. Not sure if this qualifies the place as animal friendly though, you really have to test with other animals. I read on another review that you must have cash on you, but in my case I went fully digital all over that terminal and it didn't beep back ;) Definitely recommend this for this for brunches and borrels!

For a casual place to get brunch with friends or family this place is great. It's warm, the food is wholesome, and they have American pancakes for your lil 'mericans. I haven't been here at night, but their bar looks stocked.

Love the name of this place. My sister got the French toast and I ordered an açaí bowl, oat milk latte and croissant (now you know which one of us really eats :)) Food was delicious! Presentation was beautiful and everything was fresh. Highly recommend for a late breakfast!

This place!! Oh man. So cute, so hipstery. I, like Daniella, was suspicious at first. Could it really live up to its external image? Turns out, yes, yes it can. I've been here two days in a row now, and never been disappointed. The serrano ham sandwich is delectable. Seriously. Perfectly balanced and their mozzarella is great!! Tried the pizzas today, and also stellar. I'm not a huge coffee person, so I can't speak really to the quality of the coffee, but I can say that I've gotten coffee twice here when I usually don't at all... So that's a good sign! Love the atmosphere. Seriously. Every little area is fun to sit in. Their service is wonderful-and the people are great! And, bonus... Their banana bread is on point!

I have to say I was a little bit suspicious of this place... Maybe being a bit too trendy for me. So I only came here for coffee so far. Then I finally went there for brunch on Sunday and was totally reformed...! The food was really really nice! I had a great omelette with spinach, goat cheese and mushrooms... So yummy! The coffee was also nice - had an option with almond milk too that wasn't bad... And sitting outside on the benches was cool - especially on Sunday when there wasn't that much traffic. I'll definitely come back here. Nice to know I have such a cool hangout close to my house...

Great place for breakfast, Lunch and after work drinks. Loved the ambiance, friendly staff and food. Kid friendly- but also nice for an evening with friends! We'll be back tomorrow for an other great breakfast to get our day started!

This place has opened about a month ago next to the Oosterpark and when I cycled past this place a few weeks ago it immediately attracted me! It looks so awesome and beautiful! The lovely logo, the cool bar with nice lamps, the floors and the ceiling...everything is lovely! And when you peak into the speakeasy bar Henry's...wow! Amazingly awesome. But I'll have to make an other review for that place sometime when I've been there 'cause it's like a whole other bar (the waiter told me). So, I was very exited to go the Bukowski today, on my day off. Because the weather was so lovely I wanted to sit outside to enjoy the weather. I like this spot next to Oosterpark, it is a busy place but that also makes it more interesting and it is great for people watching. The staff at the place is super friendly, cool and also in for a little chat. I loved the drinks they offered. All sorts of coffee, very interesting teas (also fresh teas: mint, vervain or ginger), fruit juices, smoothies, milkshakes, hot chocolate or chai tea and a few cool sodas like Fritz Kola, Wostok, Bionade and Club-mate. You can have various kinds of breakfast dishes until 11. After 11, it's time for lunch: poached eggs (benedict, Florentine etc), a Moroccan omelette maybe? There is also French toast with blueberries! Gotta try those next time. Of course they also have sandwiches, and many of them. I've tried a bite of the egg-salad with truffle and it was nice! They also have warm dishes like soup, a burger or ravioli. But I had the to order the flammkuchen! There are four different ones and I had the Capresse. It was delicious! Yum! Try one! So this place is awesome for breakfast, lunch or drinks! And it is very beautiful with friendly staff! What more could I wish for? Great cocktails maybe, but wait.. yes, they do that as well! Every Friday and Saturday at Henry's. Will check that place out as soon as possible!

Had been going there a few times and have always enjoyed the food, apart from the lukewarm coffee they never fail to serve. But after last time I had lunch at Bukowski, I was very disappointed and won't be coming back there any time soon. I ordered american pancakes. When I got them, they looked stale and dry. When I wanted to cut a piece off, I seriously couldn't even get my knife through it. They were rockhard and tasted like they were made 3 days ago. I only ate a small piece and didn't touch it again. When the waitress came to ask if the food was good, I told her that my pancakes where totally dry and hard and she could take the plate back. She only apologized and walked away. When I paid the bill I was very surprised they charged me for the pancakes as I didn't eat it and even more surprised she didn't mention one word about it. I paid and left.

Good atmosphere! Good service! Nice interior! Affordable delicious food and drinks! What else could you ask for?!!

I was expecting a hard-drinking, nihilistic hard core bar based on the name, so it took me a few years before I ventured inside. One day while stuck at the OLVG and looking for some decent food I took the risk. Instead of someone lobbing a whisky bottle at my head, I found a tin-ceilinged (just like in Chicago!), art-deco'ish hipster bar, with a good food selection and even better selection of cocktails. If I weren't pregnant I could see myself spending an afternoon here in an easy chair drinking fancy drinks and reading a book. Although the music is a bit loud, so I'm not sure if that would interfere with my concentration. The food was pretty good. I had the eggs benedict, which was served on a weird soft roll instead of an english muffin, and had a regular slice of ham on it instead of canadian bacon, but it was still good. In hindsight I wish I had asked for a lot more sauce, because it was pretty dry. Although in a country constantly worried about water leakage, I guess dry food is considered a good thing here. The french toast was tasty, and dry, but it came with real maple syrup, so if you wanted to you could drown it in butter if you ask for extra butter and make it more mushy yourself. The fruits added on top of it were also delicious. The coffee drinks were good, but they were out of almost all their juices when we were there, so we couldn't try those. Me and my husband visited with our 3-year old in the middle of the day on a weekday, and the waitress kind of gave us the stink eye. It's not really a kid-friendly place, per se, but since it was pretty empty at that time of day and the music is so loud is covers up most people's conversations, and toddler yelling, it was ok. I wouldn't exactly recommend it for kids, but at least they won't kick you out, and they have some child-friendly things on the menu, like fries and flammekuchen, which I guess is like a variant of pizza. I'll probably be back here again, at the very least because the OLVG cafeteria is pretty dismal in comparison.

Good food and drinks close to Oosterpark, like a well-appointed simulacra of the quintessential American dive (although the real Bukowski would probably find this all terribly bourgeois). Nice burger and a solid brunch too. Service is a little distracted but this probably isn't somewhere you would come in a hurry anyway.

Good food, cool and relaxing atmosphere. Nice people who work there as well. I left my scarf and came back hours later and they found and held on to it for me.

From the moment we walked in this was a great experience. We had amazing service food and drinks. Our waiter was adorable and made our visit tons of fun. It's a lively place on the corner and we arrived shortly before happy hour time. We had a Maroon's Gin and tonic with grapefruit recommended by our server which was done perfect along with the food! Best omelettes in Amsterdam! My only regret is not having time for a return visit this trip.

Nice and quiet little place on the corner of the Ossterpark. We stopped in for breakfast on a Friday and had the place almost to ourselves. The coffee was quite good, and the apple pie and ham-and-cheese croissants hit the spot. Plenty of seating both indoors and out, although on a nice evening I'm sure this place can get packed. Definitely worth stop if you are in the area and hungry.

Located across from Oosterpark, Bar Bukowski has a really nice quaint vibe with sidewalk seating. The prices are very reasonable. Me and my wife got breakfast a cappuccino and two waters for 22€. I got the Bukowski full breakfast and a cappuccino and my wife got the American French Toast. We both enjoyed our food, the cappuccino was good as well. The service was friendly and attentive. I would like to stop by again for lunch or dinner. The menu is mostly in Dutch, the two members of the staff that we spoke to spoke good English, so if you have any questions about the menu feel free to ask.

Being a hipster in East is not easy with all the places to options these days... If you have forgotten your comb, shaving seems like a lost art and you have a .Phd in not caring, you're probably a regular at Bukowski. Nevertheless, Bukowski (and Henry's Bar) is still one of my places on the East side. Cocktails are great (they probably invented G&T here), staff is friendly and the music is good (De Leven:-)). What really gets me going every time though is the odd Bukowski quotations on the wall: You have to die a couple times before you can really live. I did.

We go there very often when we are in Amsterdam. Very local food , good coffee and nice staff . In the evening , very crowded. Good place to hang out with friends !

Really arrogant staff. Got worked out the door 15 minutes to closing time while left with half of a drink. I won't repeat what they said to us, but it was not nice. Will never go here again.

We got take away and the man helping us this morning was SO nice!!! The food was AWESOME!!!! Really delicious and fresh. And walking by you can see everyone's food looks good. French toast was great, omelet and coffee were all yummy! Thank you

You walk into a bustling cafe with gorgeous floors, typewriters hanging from walls, a hip, good-looking crowd focused on the fluffy foam of their cappuccinos and making relaxation look like a fashionable skill. The sounds, fragrance, and vibe of this place is fantastic. Word on the street is it doubles in the cool factor during evenings when it becomes a local spot to imbibe drinks that'll make you fuzzy and get you dancing. I can hardly wait to get here during the night.

The latest addition to the East Emporium (Biertuin, Kuijpers, Elza's, Quatfass, Maxwell) by a couple young and successful entrepreneurs. This one has more of an old NY style interior, especially with the classy cocktail bar Henry's next door (also inside entrance). From the start they have had a steady full bar on weekends, and some crowds during the week as well. Definite hipster spot last summer! Music a bit loud to my taste, but a very good atmosphere and loads of people hanging inside but also around on the sidewalk/terrace that is open till late in the night! Have not tried the food.

Yum. Delicious place for a quiet breakfast, brunch, or lunch, with a nice selection of cool non-traditional dishes (e.g. avocado, cottage cheese and toast? yes!). Decent coffee as well, and the prices are good. Very chilled out atmosphere. Recommended.

lovely bar with many bukowski poems on the wall etc. very hipstery, lots of seating, tables are not too close together. nice decor. very chill, reminds me of home in berlin (but a bit pricier of course :)

Bar Bukowski - Doesn't sound like it would be the happiest place in the world, but with a few of their G&Ts served up in what appear to be fishbowls, happiness is not far off(unless, of course, Gin makes you cry). We came here with friends for a few drinks - we arrived early by Bar Bukowski standards (around 8pm) and managed to snag one if their little mezzanine tables. this gave us a perfect people-watching perch. What I LOVE here, is that there is actually table service. At 8pm, this doesn't really matter, by 10:30-11:00 - it's all but necessary to get a drink unless you really enjoy swimming through throngs of well-meaning, though not very space-conscious people. There were a few bar snacks that we had which reeked of 'average' but based on other reviews, this sounds like it does a decent brunch/coffee. Happy to come back here! *Bonus: It's attached to Henry's bar (I expect they are the same owner) so you can easily head over there for more complicated cocktails.

Only had drinks for this first visit, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The staff was friendly and attentive. Will be back to try the food and probably a meal or two and also enjoy the terrace when the weather turns nice...

This was a winner! Followed yelp suggestions and they were right on. I had American French toast, scrambled eggs and double latte. French toast was very good with beautiful strawberries and blueberries. And plenty of syrup! Latte was beautiful and perfect. Excellent and friendly service, and tables inside and out. It's a busy corner, locals riding bikes by, very cool spot to people watch. Right near tram stop, so easy to get to. Great breakfast spot, enjoyed it!!

My friends and I followed Yelp suggestions and we were satisfied. Very nice place for brunch or just taking a coffee. Great location: next to the Oosterpark. The staff are very friendly, smiling, available, attentive. Good atmosphere in this place. Nice decoration, at the entrance there is a big bar and severals rooms: up (behind the bar) and down (next to the restrooms), the interior is bright. Food was good. I took salmon sandwich and an amazing cheesecake ! I tasted some pancakes, it was delicious ! It was not expensive. However, there was some noise... They don't take credit cart. For tourists: remember to withdraw cash !!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. I've been there for a brunch, but the place seems really nice in the evening considering the crowd in front of the bar. I like the decoration, a little bit vintage, with this big bar at the entrance and the huge space inside. The food was good. I took some florentine eggs and bread with cheese and avocado. everything was really tasty, with fresh products. Service was really good, even if we were a big table and not really organized with orders. I really recommend the place if you are in the area.

We enjoyed a pleasant breakfast in the charming outdoor area, then imposed on the waitress to clue us in on the etiquette for requesting the check. She graciously explained that crossed silverware is the signal we were looking for. I just wish that we'd known earlier in our trip. Thanks again.

My daughter and I stopped in her on whim for breakfast, I can't believe I hadn't realized sooner that they serve breakfast! The French toast was delicious, and my full breakfast was just as yummy. I really liked the coffee here, which was a random thing to catch my attention. The decor, vibe and staff are all great here- and every evening it seems to be the hopping place in town for beers after work. Wish I couldn't have partaken! Maybe next time :)

Really nice service, good coffee. I took an americano and a grilled croissant with ham (5-6 euros). I liked the design of the place it's hip and makes you feel good.

Some guys recommended that bar to us so we had no idea what to expect but were really happy with that recommendation. The bar was busy but not too crowded and after ordering our first gin tonic we found a nice place on the top floor. The drinks are good and not really expensive, I liked the people there (not too young, not too posh, just enjoying themselves) and the music. So definitely a place I would return when visiting Amsterdam

My friend and I came here for a late breakfast and it did not disappoint. The food was phenomenal and there was no single use plastic. The food was really delicious and seemed to use good fresh ingredients. The service was slightly slow but overall wonderful experience.

This place is soooooooo good. Like amazingly good. I actually went twice in the same day, which is usually a total No-No when I travel. Had a Caprese sandwich for lunch and the baguette was still warm from the oven. I ate every morsel and wanted to lick my plate. For an early dinner I had one of the spectacular flatbreads (located on the back of the menu) and I couldn't get enough. Great service,great food! Great beer too! Will definitely return...

This place is hip and happening. I come here Fridays to check quality of vrijmibo (amount of doctors is enormous, but I'm not talking Grey's Anatomy material here) and in weekends for coffee and breakfast. Good menu, fair price and nice staff. And if the staff wouldn't openly discuss other staff members - and even naming them autistic (waitress might be psychology student but still...) this would be a place where I would spend many more Saturday mornings!!

Great place to hang out in the east of Amsterdam. Nice simple bar food. Ultra friendly staff. A fan of Beer Bukowski. 4,7% a blonde beer bij "brouwerij 't ij" If in east drop by. heard they had a great breakfast and lunch. But can't write about something I didn't have.

Went here twice in our four day trip to Amsterdam. Wish we had found it sooner. Situated right beside Oosterpark it's lovely to eat and then go for a stroll. It has eggs, pancakes, sandwiches and burgers on the menu all day. - perfect for a late breakfast or brunch. The Staff are really cool and friendly! Everything we had was really tasty! And the best bit is you can go from breakfast right into evening drinks in this gem!

If you want a bit of young wildness and loose revelry, like the writer the bar is named after, then this is a great place for a cocktail or shot
