"The Grand Daddy Hotel You might hear Long Street before you see it—this bustling artery is the heart of Cape Town , home to some of the city’s most popular restaurants, bars, and boutiques, all within a few blocks’ radius of the Grand Daddy Hotel. Built in 1895, this landmark building has been transformed into one of the city’s quirkier havens, though it somehow manages to walk the fine line between campy and classy. It’s a spot that’s beloved by tourists and locals alike (don’t be surprised to stumble onto a local fashion shoot in the gilded Daddy Cool bar). Behind the stately gray exterior lies a whimsical world: snuggle into crisp white sheets in one of the 26 colorful rooms or suites, or settle into a stylishly appointed Airstream in the rooftop trailer park. And speaking of the rooftop: there’s no better place to take in the view of Table Mountain presiding over the city."

We had our end of year function on the rooftop. The venue is a 10(great space and amazing views) and the barman was extremely friendly. The cocktails, however, we're watered down simply because the barman was alone serving a huge group of people - he couldn't give the drinks the attention they require. We had the braai but the meat was flavourless. The portions were very generous though. My Muslim colleagues had better reviews for their Halaal meals - they complimented the lasagne and how flavourful it was . The dessert was malva pudding with custard but the custard was watery. I expected more.

This was a last second purchase and was limited by cost so didn't have a chance to read reviews, my mistake and I don't it want it to be yours too. This is a cute hotel in the heart of the CBD, although the location could be considered a bit on the sketch side. Breakfast was include and well made from the onsite restaurant which was a plus. And hotel staff assisted with getting us scheduled on a great tour. Tap water provided. TV only 5 stations. However... BEWARE potential hotel guest especially if you are in the 2nd story family room especially if you have young children or expect to sleep - Make sure they do not have an event going on in the "Rabbit Hole" event room. They have other event rooms so you could experience the same outrage we had in different rooms depending on your proximity to one of there other event rooms during your stay as we found the hard way. When the hotel makes an excuse note and gives you earplugs before the event you know it is going to be bad. I mean who does that? I thought I booked a hotel room not an admission to a club! Someone had booked a birthday party scheduled till midnight, however the party went on and on and on till 0200+ and with the cheap earplugs the hotel gave us you could still hear the noise/music from our family room suite. Even when the cheap earplugs were not falling out of your ears you could still feel the vibration all night long. So yes, after being jetlagged and tired already this was by far the worst sleeping experience me and my family have ever had a hotel. Luckily this was the only night during our stay that had a event of this magnitude. I do not accept their apology and do not have any understanding as how they can treat there paying guests with such disregard. Be forewarned.

From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the incredible service and warm hospitality from the staff. Every team member I encountered — from reception to housekeeping to the restaurant — was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s clear they take great pride in making guests feel at home. The rooms were immaculate, beautifully styled, and exceptionally comfortable. Every detail, from the linens to the amenities, reflected quality and care. It’s rare to find a space that feels both luxurious and cozy — but they’ve managed it perfectly. The food was equally impressive. Every meal was delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, the presentation and taste were top-notch — a real highlight of my stay. Overall, The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel exceeded all my expectations. Between the incredible staff, the stylish and spotless rooms, and the high-quality dining, it’s easily one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!

It's in Long street, the busiest street in capetown during the night. The manager (a lady) is a very nice person. They have strict non smoking policy. My friend accidentally smoked 🚬 inside the room, he was to be penalised huge amount. It's until the nice calm and humble manager came down to explain to us on the rules and policies of their hotel, after a long explanation she waived the fine and gave us a discount for another night stay. The manager of this hotel is a hero.

If you want to be in the heart of Cape Town, the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel is the place to be. Darren and the staff are very welcoming. At the start of our 2,5 weeks South Africa tour, we stayed 4 nights, in their “Grand Daddy Suite” which was perfect. Comfortable, spacious, with a separate living room and a small outside terrace to relax. We had breakfast and dined once in the restaurant. The food was a bit long to arrive but it was well prepared and delicious. Breakfast to order, full English for my husband and several vegetarian options for me. Upstairs there is a rooftop bar, very convenient.|The hotel is listed as one of the best in Cape town. Above all you feel very safe, secure and well looked after in this establishment.

We spent the whole of last week at The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. We had the chance to try different rooms — the Classical Room, the Vinelands Airstream, and the Grand Daddy Suite — and each one was just perfect! Everything was spotless, beautifully decorated, and full of character.||Breakfast was gorgeous every morning, and the ladies who served us were so kind, warm, and welcoming — they really made our mornings special. A big thank you to Rachel and the entire reception team for their smiles and professionalism, and another big thank you to Libone and the F&B team for their great service and attention to detail.||Thank you so much, everyone — we had such a beautiful experience and are already looking forward to coming back very soon!

Excellent hotel right in the heart of Cape Town. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with some coming with bathtubs in the bathrooms. The food is absolutely incredible and their breakfast offer a wide variety of foods to choose from. The Alice in Wonderland theme throughout and the airstreams on the roof top bar are pretty niche and cool. The best part of this gem is the staff! They are all so wonderfully, kind and warm!

This small hotel, right in the middle of Long Street has been here since the year dot. During that time it has aged well, in it's current incarnation as a boutique hotel the old and the new are blended into one kitsch classic. The focus of the lobby is the lift - a fully functional 1930s lift, complete with retractable grille. The nature of Long St at night means the doors are locked early but the 24 hour front desk respond quickly if you want to get in. The rooms are sizeable with nice bathrooms too but the water pressure is miserable, well it was in 302 anyway. Ground floor is the restaurant, breakfast cooked to order is well worthwhile. Top floor - roof - has the deluxe rooms - Vintage Airstream caravans. They are exceptionally kitted out (the barman showed us) but they are quite dear. There is also a small rooftop bar that affords a good view of the cityscape at night. Long Street is part of the party zone and can get quite noisy at night, the hotel provides ear plugs, it didn't bother me, but if you are a light sleeper you may need to take stronger measures. A great base for exploring this city
