Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam | Dutch Resistance Museum

Went on a whim and very glad I did. The Dutch are rarely mentioned in WW2 so it was a unique perspective and I recommend it. I also recommend allowing up to 2 hours for the visit of you're doing the audio guide, I ended up rushing the end as I had a booking to get to so I will be back to do it properly

We visited with my 15-year-old daughter from England. She wanted to learn more about how the Netherlands resisted Nazi Germany, as they studied this topic at school. She was truly impressed and engaged throughout the visit. The audio guides are excellent and make the history clear and deeply moving. A powerful and educational experience for teenagers.

This was a fantastic museum, and one that I think sets a benchmark for quality displays and brilliant design. I found this place so fascinating, and the way it led you through the Chronological events of the war was really clever. Everything was well presented too, just could have done with a few more seats while watching some of the videos & listening to the very interesting audioguide. A must visit when you come to Amsterdam.

Great museum, tells the story of the Dutch resistance from beginning to end, told from various angles. There are some interactive parts which I found handy to keep my non-history-geek friend interested heheh Super recommended, if you are a student, bring your student card for a discount!

Probably the best museum in Amsterdam. Not a joke. Have been to a few WW2 museums around the world but this is my favourite. We went on a Saturday before noon and it wasn’t too crowded. There are so many stories which help you to understand the severity of what happened. Also, there are a lot of interactive elements throughout the exhibit which is also conveniently on one level. We spent around two and a half hours here but you could probably cover it in less time (maybe an hour and a half) however I think it’s really a good place to spend a few hours. Side note: the place is completely wheelchair accessible and also has tactile paving which is something I don’t see much in Amsterdam

Very important stories and nicely presented. Definitely worth a visit. The history of WW II and the German occupation, resistance (and collaboration), is told through short personal stories. Definitely makes it tangible, but sometimes seems a little strained. Personally I would want a little more hard numbers and meta-information. It's very accessable with some multimedia implementation and info in multiple languages.

An outstanding museum outlining how the Dutch people reacted during WW-II. Join it, survive it or fight it. All 3 ways are explored here with the Resistance way explained more in depth with personal stories of men and women who braved the unthinkable because they valued life. The audio guide is excellent as well as all the displays in the museum. Very thoughtfully laid out and very meaningful. There are lockers for bags

Waw, what a museum!!! Really I regret arriving a bit late and couldn't take the time I needed and wanted to take! Really what a place!!!! Full of objects, letters, people that were extremely important during the resistance! A real history class, try to go in the morning or at 2 as it closes at 5 so you have enough time to see it all! You have the audio included in 5 different languages and in each picture or object, there's an explanation. This museum is in my heart! Don't waste your time going to van gogh, the áudios are 3 euros and it's more expensive and less entertaining. Whereas this one, you leave it waaaaay more aware of the deutsh resistence during WW2!
