Came here without a reservation on a weekday night for dinner after walking around the mall for dinner ideas. The place is very spacious and there are half-concealed rooms for groups, should you want some privacy. There are some tables beside the window which I suppose would require prior reservations.
Ordered the pork loin set and an additional ebi fry and potato croquette. The set comes along with unlimited refills of rice, kanten cabbage and soup so it will be good for those who want to have a more substantial meal. I didn't get these since I was already quite full.
The pork loin was juicy and the batter was crunchy but not oily. While the croquette was ok, it didn't really stand out with a wow factor. The ebi fry was fresh and flavourful. The soup wasn't the murky miso type so it was quite light on the palate and took away any residual oiliness from the deep fried stuff. The cabbage was crunchy and had a light sweetness.
There are two types of sauces and dressings for the tonkatsu and cabbage respectively i.e. standard tonkatsu sauce, spicy miso garlic, sesame dressing and onion dressing. It will be good to compare and contrast to see which is to your liking.
Service was really attentive and prompt and the staff took time to explain the meal items. Not sure if they will do that in English or other languages though. This will be useful for those who are clueless about tonkatsu or not sure what to eat with what.
In terms of price, this will be higher than the norm but given the location of the restaurant and the quality of the food, this will be worth the premium. Just that if you are coming during a peak period, it might be best to make a reservation first.
