UNA pizza + wine Calgary: 17th Ave

UNA has been our go to place for take out food for ever, specially the Kale salad. The food quality is awesome and the prices were adjusted it to it. You pay a premium for good food. That's fine. But lately they changed the order size of a half kale salad to a minituare size salad for 15 bucks. And the extra dressing was 3 dollars... The gap now between what you get and what you pay has become too large. Too bad :-(

UNA pizza + wine Calgary just has to be visited when your name is Una! It is a popular Italian restaurant on 17th Avenue. I choose to have the kale Cesar salad for one while my hubby had his carnivore filled pizza. We both enjoyed our meals. He had a couple of cans of the UNA larger and he liked them. I had some red tempreniilo which was good. Service was efficient and speedy.

What an incredible experience! We decided to go to UNA Pizza on 17th Ave for dinner, and it turned out to be a perfect choice. Even though we didn’t have a reservation on a busy Friday night, the friendly staff accommodated us at the bar, where we got to soak in the lively atmosphere. The food exceeded our expectations—delicious, fresh, and perfectly executed. To top it all off, we discovered a hidden gem tucked away at the back of the restaurant—Frenchie Wine Bar, a speakeasy-style spot that felt like a secret escape. The intimate ambiance, carefully curated selection of wine and cocktails, and cozy vibe made the evening even more special. Overall, it was a night to remember! Amazing food, great service, and a surprise hidden gem—we couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Calgary! 🍷🍕✨

The pizza we had delivered was… well, there are not enough words to describe how bad it was. The margherita pizza was awful. The crust was cardboard. The Quattro carne was extremely salty. Frozen pizza from the grocery store would have tasted better. Edit: I would never willingly order gluten-free pizza, so if that is what I was sent, that is another issue from the pizzeria end.

I am writing to express my frustration regarding a recent gift card purchase at UNA Pizza + Wine. I purchased a $100 gift card as a gift for my friend, but without any notice, the gift card was placed in a Starbucks envelope. This made it look like I was re-gifting a gift card I received from someone else, which is unacceptable for a $100 gift. If UNA does not provide its own gift card envelope, customers should be clearly informed in advance, especially when the gift card is intended as a present. Had I been told beforehand, I would have prepared my own envelope or reconsidered the purchase. This experience was extremely disappointing and took away from what was meant to be a thoughtful gift. I hope this feedback will be taken seriously to prevent this from happening again.

We went there this evening and we're sat promptly. The browned butter old fashion was amazing. The risotto, top notch. The pizza was a bit underwhelming to be honest. The crust was okay, with no flavor of its own. Toppings were lovely. The service timing however was not good. There was about 15 minutes between the risotto appetizer and the pizza itself. Then another 15 minutes of just waiting for the bill after we asked for a box, for the pizza we couldn't finish because by the time it hit the table, my stomache had already started to digest. So about 25 minutes of experience and 30ish minutes of waiting.. Just seemed a bit disorganized. Also just a heads up that it is an incredibly tight restaurant. If you are sitting in a chair vs the booth, your chair will get kicked constantly

The kale caesar salad and other appetizers (cauliflower, Brussels sprouts) are still good, but the pizza itself has gone downhill since we first ate here a few years back. The dough is on par with frozen pizza you get at the store. Further, this location is always in a rush to remind you that more reservations are coming and that seating time is limited. That's understandable, given the small space and location, but the pace of the wait staff and kitchen never aligns with the allotted time. On our last visit, we were told upon arrival that a reservation was expected in 1.75 hours. No problem. We were finished our meal long before the time was over. The waiter cleared everything and did not offer dessert menus or further drinks before disappearing for a long while, even though we were prepared to pay and leave as per their initial request. When the inattentive waiter finally returned, long after our allotted time was finished, he politely gave us a "ten minute warning" that the next reservation was coming. We would've been long gone if he hadn't left us hanging for twenty minutes without giving us our bills or any other service. To return to the table and urge us that it's time to leave even though we were waiting on him reflects a disorganized system and feels rude, as if we were the ones ignoring the request to be gone before the next table arrived. Similar things have happened to us in the past here, where the full dinner experience is cut short because they have another table coming and most of our "allotted time" was spent waiting for food or service. I would recommend eating elsewhere if you don't want to feel rushed through what has become an unremarkable meal overall.

A Calgary classic! Always recommend going mid-day so you’re guaranteed a nice table. Una is a consistent experience, with great service, reliably delicious food and great specials. The arancini is always a must, and if you’re getting two pizzas, one with greens and one without is always a good bet. Our favourite combo is the mushroom, then the sweet and spicy prosciutto, but really, we’ve had them all at this point and they all slap.
