We have been getting our tree here for the past 5 years and I will never buy a Christmas tree from anywhere else. They are beautiful, they last soooooo long (Black Friday until mid January!) make your house smell fantastic, sturdy, just can’t say enough. And everyone who works there is so nice and helpful. It’s an over all great experience.

I was on my way to catch the bus when i seeb Adams & Son & Daughter Gardens it took my eye of waiting for the bus. Me & my nephew Ayden went to check it out and it has a great selection of plants, and plant gifts to give to friends. At adams u can also find everything from soil, plant pots and tools to plant. I will be back soon great location plus affordable and the pumpkins are great for Halloween decorations. 🪴🌵🫶🏼

Google
Great atmosphere, and good prices! They had a live DJ when we visited (Sunday) which was dope! They have small hand-written notes on each of the plants so you know how to take care of it. Being a beginner, I thought this was so helpful and considerate. Very unique vibe and family owned, if you have the chance check this place out.

Susan P.

Google
I love going here! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the plant selection is fantastic. Vega is especially knowledgeable. He helped me pick out perfect planters for too large plants (that were gifts), and of course I picked up a few other plants while there :)

Google
THE SPOT FOR CHRISTMAS TREES. 🤩🤩🤩I went to 6 places on Black Friday looking for a tall tree. The big box stores were picked over, nothing over 7 feet. The two smaller places that had tall trees wanted astronomical prices for them. I went to Adams & Son & Daughter last. They had nice, tall trees! And they were priced almost like they’re providing a providing a community benefit instead of just maximizing profit. They’re gonna be my go-to for as long as I live anywhere nearby.

Google
Best quality plants/accessories and such a fun variety. Love coming into this store, such a comforting environment and you can tell the owners genuinely take pride and care for their products. Even gave advice on how to care/revive my plant that I did NOT purchase from them that is suffering from root rot. Pictured: newest plant/pot they helped pick out we got for my friends new coffee shop that I’m def going back for to get one for my own house!

Google
Finally made it out here and lemme just say: wowowow! I felt like a lil' kid in a candy shop but just a diff type of sweet treats 🪴 so much joy in one space! I'll most definitely be coming back. Also, s/o to Niko who was so helpful and is basically a walking plant encyclopedia; appreciated the time he took to show me around and answer my 21Qs LOL everyone was so lovely and welcoming :) As a first timer, I had such a pleasant plant browsing (and shopping) experience 🥹 Left the proud owner of two new plant bbs (one of them which I named Niko hehehe) #ShopSmallBiz #SupportLocal fam

Google
Hidden neighborhood gem. Whenever we swing by for anything garden related (Christmas trees also), there's just good vibe... And it all starts from the top with Adam and Tony down to all their very friendly and knowledgeable associates. Good people, great products at a fair price. I have not gone back to big box stores for any greenery needs since discovering Adams & Sons (& Daughter - although we have not had the pleasure of meeting her yet). We will be back again.

Yelp
Tony and his team are knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. Their selection of plants, pots, and all your other garden needs is excellent. Their prices are very reasonable. This family run business is the perfect place for plant lovers.

Yelp
Best place to buy Culinary Herbs for replanting. Skip Home Depot and support this small biz.

Yelp
This planet shop has everything. I have driven by when they have Christmas trees and fire wood available for purchase. Finally stopped in to check out some plants. I am in need of some succulents as I killed one of them. This garden center is so open. It starts outside and then wraps around into the inside. So many options. Great place to browse for new plants. I was so happy to see the plants, succulents and fruit trees. I was even more suprised to see all the herbs. I really want an herb garden but no where to put it. The selection of herbs was amazing, all the basics some specialty items. My favorite part of this store is they put take care instructions along with all plants. So they say low light or high light. It will say water every other day or water every 7 days. So cool. Also they have roses and flower arrangements premade. They are so affordable. An arrangement for $19 bucks including vase. That is fantastic. Going back today for another succulents and some herbs.

Yelp
Edited review to update that I gave it another chance. I returned in the middle of the day when I had a day off, and everyone I encountered was kind. I'm glad I gave it another chance despite my urge not to out of principle. I hope that the owners realize that there are many reviews about being treated poorly when arriving near closing time. Original review: I heard great things but am disappointed. I left work as early as possible to arrive before close. I walked up at 3:57 to buy a gift certificate as a sympathy gift and was told "last call was 3:45." I was told the registers were shut down and I could not be helped. Bad first and likely last impression. Wanted others to be aware of this cut off time for arrival.
google avatar

Jerry M.

Yelp
Have been coming here since it started, best prices and quality by far! Terrific selection.
google avatar

Jenny G.

Yelp
Wish I could give a 0. Please note they are not open until 4pm and you will be refused entry if you arrive at 3:40. Was hoping to just buy a planter and the owner would not allow me in the store. Ended up going to Christy Webber on Chicago and had a wonderful experience. I would recommend shopping for plant needs elsewhere in the city as Adam and Sons clearly does not appreciate the business.
google avatar

Leilani L.

Yelp
I agree with those who gave low ratings. Customer service isn't great. Came to look for a plant for my office and decided to hop on the California bus to this place. Walked around the store in circles for 20 min looking for a plant that didn't need much watering. The store wasn't busy, and I was right near the register. No one approached me to say hello or ask if I needed help. No one! When it was time to pay, the owner or manager was very short when I asked if the plant I was paying for needed to be potted in a bigger pot. I hope this plant survives because his short answer didn't help.
google avatar

Charlene H.

Yelp
This is a no thrills Ma & Pa shop location. I showed up at 9 and waited and others did too for the owners to arrive. No worries because they are are everyday minority business doing it alone. But they sell basic and exotic plants for the best price I've seen in Chicago. I have traveled all over the city of Chicago and their prices are the best. They aren't out to market you. Ask a question and get an answer. And they are knowledgeable. Support a Latino minority business.
google avatar

Melanie A.

Yelp
Owner was very unfriendly, rude and unhelpful when I asked if they had any pet safe plants. Instead of providing any suggestions he told me he couldn't. Go to Christy Webber around the corner. They are lovely and helpful!

Yelp
What happened to Adams &..? My good friends and their neighbors were one of the first to support them when they decided on a garden center....All these yearsI have purchased ALL my garden and plants supplies from them..even when I could find much cheaper...and that is (was) quite a big of $$. Today I arrived there are 3:47...I didn't know what time they closed! (I sure do now.!!!!...) And went directly into the garden center on the side. Some man started yelling at me 'Get Out..Get Out'. so I turned around and went to the door that said 'Closed at 4". So I started to walk to my car and this OTHER man was literally yelling at me and wouldn't stop 'Can't you read signs?? Can't you SEE signs??" "Can't you read???" Drivers were leaning out their windows to see what was going on... ALL THE WAY TO ME GETTING TO MY PARKED CAR!!! Is this world so angry that he would treat another person like that who said nothing and was just going to leave?? "Support Local" ...no more...everyone...and I do mean everyone should be treated with respect..esp a good customer who just didn't know when they closed. 'Tony' and 'Bob' would be so disappointed in you...

Maria M.

Yelp
We did a quick stop as it has been on my list for a while...what a surprise - such an amazing selection, such great prices! We chatted it up with what I am assuming is the owner and he was so helpful and great. We had a great time and we will be back for all our plant needs!

Arica W ..

Yelp
Stop in to pass time! Im a plant person and I thought I knew everything about plant until I noticed the Anti Social PlantClub shirt that Veda was wearing and asked about it. Veda lol was so amazing, he began to explain and talk about so many plant I forgot where I was . It was such and amazing environment, the Vibe is definitely chill and welcoming. I bought another plant baby and the owner ran out to give me the shirt I couldn't afford at the time!!!! Happy I stopped in I will definitely be back once the garden opens

Yelp
The best. Great pricing, extremely help staff. Tony and his family are so personable. I've bought everything there here from herbs, eucalyptus, cacti, roses and pomegranate. They have a very interesting selection and each time I come in there's always something new. I specifically come here to buy Fox Farm potting soil, not the ones with blue pellets which are bad for the environment. I love the attention to detail to good quality products and plants that will actually thrive here. Also, the olive trees are phenomenal there in the summer. They move fast so follow them on IG!

Yelp
Still 5 stars - just wanted to add some photos I took at their anniversary celebration.

Yelp
love this place! been going there for years, great vibes and wonderful people. i always leave feeling better than when i went in.
google avatar

Marlene S.

Yelp
Where do I start?? I just happened to walk in and was not expecting the wonderful experience I had! I was looking around at all the plants and then I met Vega who helped me find the right plants. We walked me through the best options for me, since I need super low maintenance plants. He was so helpful and got me some great new plants. Will definitely come back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
Great plant nursery! Lots and lots of varieties of indoor and outdoor plants and flowers. Large selection of vegetables for every urban gardener. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
google avatar

Naquiyah C.

Yelp
If your into plants this is a place to CERTAINLY support!!!! Especially their variety of succulents with extremely reasonable pricing! Their huge amount of clay pots is impressive! I love shopping for my plant pots here. Real nice selection! And the owners and workers there take great care of you with any questions you have! Very knowledgeable and friendly! Don't always go for the big Home Depot chains and check these guys out! You won't regret it trust me!

Sls S.

Yelp
Great family run business. Good for summer gardens indoor plants and Christmas trees.

Angelina T.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about their VAST selection. The prices were very reasonable for what I was looking for, especially their herbs and vegetables! When I was unsure about what kind of herbs would be best for my garden, an employee walked me through a bunch of options, and another employee helped me get set up with all the tools I would need. I love this place & will definitely be back.

Richard L.

Yelp
Hidden neighborhood gem. Since discovering this place, I don't buy plants or Christmas trees anywhere else. Good price and courteous to the nth degree.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
The most amazing shop for any of your plant and gardening needs! Prices are so reasonable and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable, they helped us understand which plants would work well in our apartment and explained hOw to care for them. We went back this year for our Christmas tree. BEST deals around! It was $40 for a 6 foot tree, they let us look at it then wrapped it on our roof for the drive home.

Vicky C.

Yelp
The selection is good and that have what most gardeners need. I gave them a low rating because the owners, a older couple and their grown son are rude. They are Not approachable. If you try to ask them a question they don't want to be bothered. I have had the same experience with all of them. When I do go here for something I expect that I will Not receive any service at all. They seem guarded and mistrustful of people and don't care to interact. Because of this, they make me feel uncomfortable in their presence, so I usually move to another area if they are around. That's how bad their people skills are. I think they are only interested in dealing with their large contract customers. This is my guess as to why they have been in bus. so long.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
Great selection, healthy plants, awesome staff and good prices. Much better than most stores downtown. They've got everything you need and the knowledge to go with it.
google avatar

Bob R.

Yelp
Wonderful place with a great selection and good prices. We went in just to look and walked out with a Bansai and another small plant. Never owning a Bansai, I asked the owner about caring for it. I got a lecture from him on taking care of Bansai for about 1/2 hour. Very unexpected, detailed, and quite helpful. I'm looking forward to seeing how I do with it. If it does well, I plan to go back and start to build a collection.

Yelp
After seeing all the great reviews I was so excited to come here, which is why I was taken aback when I was treated more terribly here than I ever had anywhere else. My friend came to shop here in the late afternoon one day, and I planned to meet her there as she was finishing up her shopping. I arrived around closing time, yet my friend was still inside as were several other people, so I didn't think twice as I pushed open the door. To my surprise a man (likely the manager or owner) started pushing the door closed on me from the inside before I could even get a foot in, and angrily saying "you can't come in -- we're closing". When I started to explain that my friend was inside and I simply wanted to meet up with her, he cut me off and said he doesn't care and that my friend needs to leave too. He then proceeded to slam the door in my face and even lock it for extra measure (even though there were still customers inside that he would have to unlock it for). But that's not all. I then walked away, slightly shaking my head, and I guess the man saw me shaking my head because he then unlocked the door, stepped outside and walked towards me, yelling down the street, "Don't you shake your head at me young lady, we're closing and you need to learn how to follow the rules!" I was terrified that this man, easily twice my size, went so out of his way to literally yell at me for seemingly nothing, and treat me like a disobedient child (I'm in my mid twenties). We quickly walked away and drove off. Mind you, my friend and I try to be extremely respectful and would never intentionally disrupt a store or do anything to incite such anger. Either he was having a bad day and decided to take it out on a customer, has a problem with young women of color (I'm sure he wouldn't dare act in such a way to a man), or is just nasty in general. None of which are justified, and I still can't believe that the store is so popular despite such blatant unprofessionalism. Obviously, I will not be coming back here, and would strongly warn against it if you are a woman under 5'5".

Yelp
WELCOME to the jungle... of plants, trees, soil, and bouquets. A large selection of indoor and outdoor leafy friends of all sizes. I saw everything from bamboo to cactus to aloe. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but ended up picking up a house plant. At checkout, I asked the staff member what the easiest way to neutralize mold in soil was. She knew right away. Gave me a step by step process. (New soil, throw away old soil, rinse pot, take 8oz of water one drop of dish soap, one drop of white vinegar and mist the roots of plant with it. Let it dry. Repot plant with new soil) Awesome advice! I betcha ya didn't know you had a green thumb after your visit here! I love going to hardware stores, like Home Depot; however, I love going to these mom and pop garden shops more. The plants last longer and are healthier. I recommend this place for everyone; will return here.
google avatar

Bernadette D.

Yelp
One of my favorite plant shops in the city! I love coming here because they offer a variety of plants and a whole bunch of pots as well. Vega, one of the workers, is super friendly and helpful! I've gotten several plants from there already including the rhaphidophora tetrasperma, alocasia, ivy, and some cacti. It's been almost a year and they're all still doing well. I also get all my terracotta pots from here since they have so much in stock at low prices. Definitely recommend this shop to those in Chicago!
google avatar

Irina G.

Yelp
Will make a special trek to get my plant gifts here -the selection and prices are great, but I love the personal service all of the staff provide! If you nerd out about plants, or even if you don't, they'll nerd out with you here and help you find everything you need for a perfect plant home.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
I love Adams & Sons! They made me a plant lady! This is a local, family-run garden center. They have family pictures on the walls ah over their extensive selection of plants. After visiting several plant shops in the area, I have found that Adams & Sons has some of the best pricing and selection of both plants and pots. The staff is super informative and helpful- they easily answered all my questions and educated me on care procedures for my plants. You will not walk out empty-handed!
google avatar

Yelp
This place may be everyone's dream plant place, but the customer service leaves much to be desired. As a prospective first-time customer, I walked up to the front door this morning when I was met by someone I presumed to be the owner who curtly stated the store doesn't open till 9:00, even though I saw on Google that it opened at 8:00 a.m. He proceeded to point to his sign that said "9:00 to 4:00." This was the conversation: Me: Oh, the website said 8:00. Him: We don't have a website. Me: Oh, then Google had the hours on the Internet. Him: Don't believe everything you hear on the Internet. I walked away wondering if Adams & Son has too much business. Maybe that was the reason for the rude behavior. I think I will take my business elsewhere. I was prepared to spend a good amount of money there too.

Tracy S.

Yelp
I stopped by this weekend they didn't have what i wanted but omg the selection is beyond!!! The staff was so kind..worth the drive
google avatar

Maisel S.

Yelp
Horrible horrible customer service... first the Dad Adam really negative attitude... then the cashier mother won't give a refund on bad plants that went bad in 2 days finally the son mean negative attitude towards customers and employees... won't return

Yelp
Nice little plant shop in Humboldt Park. Good variety of house plants. The prices were very reasonable as well. Will definitely check out again.

Anna N.

Yelp
MOST AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, GARDEN CENTER I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! WOW!!!!!!! And staff! The kindest, most helpful, people! I felt as if I was family! The smell in there... DIVINEI just purchased few plants and the MOST BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET! Haven't smelled flowers and plants or have seen this quality anywhere in the Chicagoland area!!! BRAVO!!! Will be back when outside garden opens!!!!

Tina K.

Yelp
Beautiful store with very friendly staff. The owner gave great advice on which plants to buy for each room and the how to properly take care of everything. All the plants in the store look very healthy. I'll be back in the spring to buy more!
google avatar

Dos T.

Yelp
Love this vibrant family business - plants small and large at very reasonable prices and super strong planter selection. ProTip - very large air plants are under $20 dollars here and small and medium size ones range from $2-5. They also have stylish airplane hangers and holders. We went for the first time in winter but the outdoor area for the spring and summer will be a must stop when the weather warms and it's time for our balcony garden. A Sick Fisher of foliage graces the front of the building. Try not to shop in the last 15min or so or you might feel rushed.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Went to Adams for a Xmas tree and found a tropical paradise inside. It was our first time there. Went on a referral from our son. Got a great, tall, full fresh tree (all are 49.99 - a good price!). Then my husband, who had paid inside while I stayed in car, came out and said, "You've got to see this place!" The inside garden center is huge and jam packed with plants, planters, supplies. There's a holiday sale on succulents. A 4" pot for $4.99. That is a great price! Lots of interesting cactus too. Of course I bought 2 succulents and a cactus bearing baby cacti . Nice people too.
google avatar

Julia Q.

Yelp
Rude!! Your hours are wrong online and when someone asks if you're open you shouldn't clip back No and then turn your back to them. Tried to support a local business, to Home Depot I go! At least they're nice

Sissy W.

Yelp
An honest business should provide itemized receipts without customers asking, A good business should not to embarrass customers when they ask for ones.. This is why I am giving them 1 star. After I checking out, I asked for a receipt but only saw the total amount, so I asked for an itemized receipt. The cashier was murmuring something quite unpleasant but I ignored. When he handed me the receipt, he said :" what, do you think I am going to cheat you?" I was puzzled and asked him what is wrong to ask for a receipt?" He responded with annoying tone and said "I was just joking" If he had been more friendly in the check out process, I might be inclined to believe him. From the beginning, he was not friendly- ignoring my questions, no greeting but rushing. So I told him :" but I don't feel you were joking". At some point, he gave me the vibe:" don't like my joke, don't shop here". So I asked for a refund. When I gave him the receipt back , he threw it back to me. I was shocked and left angry. He followed me out, trying to convince my husband :"I was just joking" and I told him I didn't feel that way. He said:" you are a liar". I was originally planning to give him some benefits of doubt that he maybe have a bad day but after reading other customer reviews that they were humiliated and harassed, I believe that the place has a history of bad customer service.

Yelp
This has been my go to plant store for many years. They are a wonderful local and family owned nursery. They have a huge variety of very high quality plants. They are always willing to answer all my questions, which are a lot because I have the opposite of a green thumb. They are still open during quarantine so grab your mask and go give them a visit!
google avatar

Claudia M.

Yelp
I'm slowly learning about gardening and I had the need to get some planter pots with tropical looking greens for the front porch. I was told by my neighbor that Adams & Sons had some cute plants, potters and garden essentials. I'd never heard of it but I love checking out places others recommend. They have lots of planter pots, watering cans and even soil. Everything for your planting needs. The lady who was there was very helpful. After I picked out a variety of coleus greens for the planter pots she told me how to plant them and how to keep them alive. The gentleman who was there (he was not Tony, I asked ) told me how to care for them in the Winter. I've never had a green thumb but then again I've never given gardening a chance. I'm a grown-up now and ready to give it a chance. My mom has such a green thumb and she will most likely keep these green tropical lovelies alive for me. Anyway, I also want an indoor tree. The gentleman suggested a tropical gardenia tree that smelled great! Besides the tree there are several other plants that I need to get for my feng shui needs and others simply for superstitious reasons. Now I know where to get my plants and trees. I'm a fan!

Yelp
GO TO THIS STORE AND ASK FOR VEGA!!! He's the plant whisperer and he'll tell you exactly what you need in your life!! He's all about reading energies and making sure you have the best plant. Told him I was looking for Bday plant for my friend, described her and he said took some time to think through it and picked this one! Great guy and great business!
google avatar

LeShonne S.

Yelp
Came for the plants, I keep coming back foe the exceptional service. Thanks to Adam's and Sons my house is a jungle. They are so knowledgeable and offer great advice and tip on plant care. Vega is the man! I won't shop anywhere else for plant babies.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon specifically to look for a dwarf meyer lemon tree. I had called ahead before visiting to make sure they had them and was told they did for $30. It was probably the business' busiest day of the year since it's the first weekend with warm weather in Chicago, the entire place was packed and you couldn't really walk around nor easily find any staff to ask a question, and the people who appeared to be owners that worked at the register were overwhelmed and really impatient with all the customers. So I wandered around by myself trying to find the meyer lemon trees and finally found a pot that contained a citrus-like twig (was like 1 foot tall and less than 1/8 of an inch thick) with price labeled for $30. I found out later that this is the meyer lemon tree. Was unimpressed but the little fella had leaves and even had some flower buds so it was kind of cute, but can't really imagine the twig to be bearing lemons anytime soon. Dwarf lemon trees seem to be the hippest house plant this year. It's sold out in a lot of places. I had also called Christy Webber (a 12" plant for $114) and Gethsemane Garden Center (I think they said they have 24" plants for like $120)
google avatar

Dona K.

Yelp
I've been going to the store for 20 years. It is a wonderful family owned business and they have an incredible selection... Way better than the big box stores. Their prices are very competitive and they will help you with whatever you need.
google avatar

Jenna S.

Yelp
I LOVE this place for all of my plant needs each spring. I first went here on the recommendation from a friend and I was pleasantly surprised with their selection of fruits and vegetables available for planting. I have a backyard garden and I have a few plants that I really want each year that aren't always available (or good quality) at the big box stores. The staff here are also incredibly knowledgeable. I had a question about how to get rid of wild mint in my yard (it's like a plague) and one of the employees gave me four different suggestions, two of which were natural and two that involved chemicals. They sold everything I would have needed if I went the chemical route but I tried one of the natural methods and it worked well. Some things here are definitely pricier than at big box stores but it's worth it to shop local and support people in your area. The plant selection is great, especially in the spring, and they'll help you out with any questions you have. Parking here is a NIGHTMARE so plan to park up or down the block and struggle a bit to find a place to double park for supply pickup (if you get a lot). There's no dedicated parking lot so it can be a bit tricky if you arrive during a busy time.
google avatar

Vio M.

Yelp
I buy flowers and plants every year from Tony and his crew since 2009. I love walking my dogs past this store's outside plants, love having them so close to home. When Christy Weber moved on Chicago Ave nearby, I thought that was kinda rude of them, so I kept shopping at Adams & Sons. And to the customer who gave 1 star, Bell B: did you stop to think that maybe your grasp of reality ( and English language) combined with your fear of pots being stacked together, might be the reason you felt uncomfortable at this sweet store??? Grow up. Smh.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Really cool place. Good Covid standards. Allows a max I think 8 or 12 ppl in at a time. Doors are open for air circulation and everyone is required to wear masks. It's a little cramp in there so be aware. The employees are super nice and resourceful. They have a lot of plant varieties and I think they were at a good price compared to how big they were.
