Hatoya Shibuya

JAN 2026 Came here early in the morning for matcha and it was already quite busy but I didn't have to wait long to order. I had the handpicked Tezumi iced matcha latte which is the most premium matcha option on the menu and indeed it was high quality with a smooth and rich earthy umami taste. The ratio of matcha to milk was great, not milky at all. If you want a dessert like drink, highly recommend having the matcha latte with no sugar and top it with matcha whipped cream; it adds a bit of sweetness and a rich creaminess which complements the latte. Also had the Hatoya parfait which can only be ordered for dine-in. The parfait consist of a matcha lava cake surrounded with matcha whipped cream, shiratama, and a scoop of matcha ice cream topped with matcha sauce and powder. It was quite sweet and very rich in matcha flavor which was tasty. Overall enjoyed both the matcha latte and parfait and the staffs were friendly. Note that the matcha drinks takes quite a bit of time as each drink is measured and whisked to order and having the parfait during busy hours can be difficult due to limited dining space.

Finally, I had it! The popular matcha store in the Shibuya district that is always packed with customers. I tried the matcha latte, where I could choose the profile based on the taste notes I like, and added matcha ice cream on top. It was intense and full of matcha aroma. Don’t forget to snap a photo! the drink look so tempting. It’s mostly a grab-and-go shop.

This is another matcha shop in Tokyo that I really like. I like the matcha with oat milk and mochi. The matcha is very good. It has a nice flavor and is not bitter. It goes very well with oat milk. The shop is small, but there are always many people at this branch. On the day I went, there was no line, so I did not wait long. On another day, the line was very long, but I still waited because it was delicious and I wanted to eat it again.

Dropped by after lunch and was so surprised to see only 3 people in the queue! They call your number when it’s your turn so you can watch them prepare your order! Matcha was thick, smooth, umami, and a little nutty; my favourite matcha I drank throughout my Japan trip! Highly highly recommend adding on the matcha ice cream, you won’t regret!

A must-visit for matcha lovers! You can watch them prepare your drink right in front of you. The matcha and monaka (wafer sandwich) set is a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness that will leave you with a huge smile. I also tried the seasonal Matcha Strawberry, though the strawberry flavor was a bit dominant.

The matcha here is rich and strong. You can choose pure matcha or a latte, and add toppings like mochi or ice cream. I ordered the matcha latte — the milk was creamy, the matcha was bold. The mochi was soft (just okay for me), but the matcha ice cream was super intense. They also prepare the matcha in front of you at the shop.

went there twice in one trip! the best matcha latte i've tried in japan! went on a sunday ~12pm and friday ~1pm, barely any queue, around 2 groups before me for both times. they sell their matcha powder as well!

Hatoya Matcha was amazing! The matcha was rich, smooth, and packed with flavor. We ordered the blended iced matcha with brown sugar and matcha ice cream — so good and perfectly balanced. Service was quick, and the customer service was great. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!
