Yelp
Omiwol specializes in both Korean BBQ and Korean noodle soups in a more classy setting. The noodle soups here are really good!
Korean BBQ is usually heavy on the meat, but this place has a Seafood Feast option that consists of just seafood, without any meat.
The place is more upscale than most other Korean BBQ places, with really nice interior decor and very chill & calming music. It made the ambiance feel very relaxing.
We ordered the Ocean Feast which came as a set of raw jumbo shrimps / prawns, a whole squid, and a whole mackerel fish that you cook yourself. On top of that, the set also came with 4 pieces of raw abalone, green onion salad (very spicy!), corn cheese, choice of jjamppong (spicy seafood soup with noodles) or white jjamppong (non-spicy version of the seafood soup with noodles), and choice of Melona flavour for dessert (options: melon, mango, coconut, ube). We also got a complimentary appetizer, and we chose raw marinated crab which turned out to be really good with sesame seasoning.
My favourites were the raw marinated crab and abalone because they were more unique (not many places offer the raw version of these, even in sushi / sashimi restaurants). They were marinated and seasoned very well. The raw crab came in the shell, and the raw abalone came already pre-cut on the shell, making it very easy to eat.
Everything that came in the Ocean Feast set was enough to feed 3-4 people, even though it was advertised as for 2 people on the menu. The noodle soup itself was quite big and contained a lot of seafood (shrimps, mussels, squid / calamari, octopus) and vegetables (zucchini, Napa cabbage, carrot, onion). The noodles used were udon noodles which were thick and chewy, which I loved.
The waitress helped to adjust the temperature of our grill, changed the grill halfway through, and provided pointers on how to spread and cook the whole squid, shrimps, and mackerel fish properly. They were more hands-on in the cooking process than in most other typical, more casual Korean BBQ restaurants, which we appreciated.
In addition to the Ocean Feast, we ordered extra vegetables as add-ons: Garlic Asparagus, Garlic Zucchini, and Mushrooms Set (4 different kinds of mushrooms). The garlic-flavoured vegetables and enoki mushrooms came wrapped in tin foil, which we just dropped onto the grill to cook. They were all really good and the garlic flavour really came out, with actual pieces of garlic. Big portion of the Mushrooms Set too.
The Korean BBQ set also came with a basket of broad-leafed lettuce which you can wrap your grilled items in. The lettuce was refillable, so you can ask for extras if you run out.
On top of everything that came with the set, we also got banchan dishes: mashed squash (really good!), kimchi, pickled radish, and spicy pickled cucumber.
There is very limited street parking right in front of the restaurant, but there is a private parking garage in the building complex (shared with other restaurants / businesses in that complex). You can get free validated parking if you ask the server to give you a green parking slip after your meal. You then insert the green parking slip into the machine, followed by the white parking slip, which renders your parking free as a business patron.
