Good Days Collingwood

Had heard from a few friends that this was their favourite pho shop. I knew it was going to be a more expensive and slightly more westernised version of pho, but also cleaner in presentation and feel. In terms of traditional flavour, I would say it sits at about three quarters of what you would find in the suburbs. The beef broth has a hint of sweetness with a nice clean taste. The meats here for the most part were all very tender and good. I do like the more modern additions they let you add on, like eggs and other extras that you do not traditionally see at more OG pho spots. I think it is a good addition. You are looking at around $28 for a bowl of pho with a few add ons or more, but it is good to try something different once in a while and see what they have done with the traditional style. The meats are also different to your usual pho shops, and you can tell they are aiming for higher quality, which makes sense considering the higher price point.

So, so good. We had an outstanding meal: a really refined take on Vietnamese classics, little twists, and executed on point. Staff were great, atmosphere and interior is very nice and the pet nat was 10/10. The pho broth was amazing, slightly deeper umami profile (I like), and I personally loved the onion pickle. The chicken skewers were oh so tender, perfect balance of sweetness and smoke. Would love to come again and try more of their menu, and maybe buy some merch. Thanks to the team!

I first tried this restaurant at the Brunswick location and thought it was amazing! the best pho in Melbourne! But at this branch, I found that all the flavors were much milder compared to the other location, so I’m not sure why. The restaurant itself has a cute, clean, and spacious atmosphere, and it’s easy to get to from the city by the 96 tram. All the pho is $25. It’s honestly a bit pricey, but definitely worth trying if you want good pho in this area

I’m a Filipino American who is used to seeking Asian food as a safe choice for meals when I’m unsure as to what I want to eat. I found this place on Google Maps and figured it was worth a shot. It seemed relatively new with the low amount of ratings, although every rating was 5 stars and when we got to the restaurant, it was full of patrons, so we figured, “why not?” To start, the crispy pork and prawn spring rolls were extremely salty. Balancing it out with the mint leaves and lettuce did not help. So we left the two you see pictured uneaten. I’ve definitely had better and if I’m being honest, this was on the much lower end of the spectrum of fried spring rolls I’ve had from Vietnamese restaurants. Next up, the beef and chicken pho. I always try to taste the soup/broth first to see how it tastes straight from the pot before adding any garnishes or sauce. Well, this too was extremely salty. It wasn’t until I added lemon that it balanced out the flavor a bit more. The beef wasn’t too bad but this is my fifth day in Melbourne and Australia in general and I just don’t think I’m a big fan of Australian beef compared to USDA beef. It has an almost game-ier taste to it at all the restaurants we’ve tried beef at. Service was okay, the restaurant has good vibes inside. The only other thing was that there was not another Asian patron in sight which is usually something I factor into how good a spot will be and sure enough, it was meh. I think if they improve on their food, this place has potential. But for now, I absolutely do not think this place is worthy of its 5 star rating just yet. Hope this helps!

Amazing food, really good vegan broth, fresh vegetables, but pretty expensive (gentrified Collingwood prices)

Nice service, sweet fit out and the food is next level good. The freshness of ingredients is evident in the flavour. The Pho broth was incredible and well presented. I added the onsen egg and wasn’t disappointed. Tofu broken rice was also very flavourful. The place is definitely on the pricier side compared to Abbotsford Viet establishments but well worth a visit.
