"Prague's Most Modern Spire The Zizkov TV tower was built in the latter half of the 1980sand there wererumors that the Soviets built the tower to block out radio transmissions from the West. Locals have hated the 700-foot high structuresince day one, although public resentmentseems to be waining a bit. Public art has also softened the outlook—ten of sculptorDavid Černý's giant babiescrawl up the exterior. Today, the futuristic tower is best for getting a sky-high view of the city of hundred spires from the viewing platform."

15 Unique Things to Do in Prague (Updated 2025)

"The controversial 700-foot Žižkov TV Tower from the 1980s — once rumored to have been built to block Western radio broadcasts — softened in local opinion only after artist David Černý mounted ten giant crawling black babies on its shaft; I recommend going up to the viewing platform for a great vista of Prague (admission charged)." - Matthew Kepnes

Built from 1985 to 1992, while being very unconventional visible even from almost all viewpoints of Prague, is a testament of trchnological and structural innovation. Now it has techbology more or less from the past, but it shows how much we have grown and how beautiful the city of Prague is. This TV tower is very easy to get to from the Subway, but the small little journey to it is already beautiful, and complements the tower more. The views are incredible, and remind of the tower in Berlin.

Google
Very fun place. Loved that it wasn't too busy and there was lots of room to walk around 93m up. Huge windows, great views. Fun art installations, videos and chairs/sofas added to it all. 18-26 year old get reduced entry. Loved the climbing babies art too. Very funky! The antithesis of historic Prague - but that was its attraction for me. NOTE: Bring cash. Not sure why card machine is broken but it is!

Google
The Prague TV Tower is a fairly popular place not only as a viewpoint, but also as an art zone (sculptures of children crawling on the tower). But everyone goes here anyway for the "unsurpassed view of Prague". Frankly speaking, the view from 95~ meters, although interesting and truly incredible, cannot be compared with the view from the tower of St. Vitus Cathedral, which is located at approximately the same height, and from it you can see almost all the iconic buildings of Prague. Of course, you can note the opportunity to eat with a view of Prague, but not at a slightly lower height (60~ meters). In general, if you want to see the view of Prague from this place - you can go up, but the view from St. Vitus Cathedral is better and cheaper, although the ascent is not by elevator.

An incredible feat of architecture, with a turn for the obscure. The Žižkov television tower stands above the Prague skyline like an imposing sword, contrasting the historical neighbourhood which surrounds it. Completed in 1992, the tower boasted unique radio transmission technology. Some of the pods are open to the public for a panoramic view for around 15€. The addition of the peculiar baby sculptures happened later, in the year 2000. They are now immitations of the original David Černý sculptures that were first displayed on the tower. Although I can’t speak on the view from up above as I had no time to ascend, this tower has probed itself to me as worthy of being one of Prague’s greatest attractions. Gorgeous and worth visiting if only from down below!

Good points: quick to get to on excellent public transport. Lots of chairs. Not busy. You can right up to the glass. Bad points. Other people have got right up to the glass and appeared to have smeared their entire bodies along it. Clean the windows! It's 15 euros. You can get a lot of window cleaning spray for that price. A very old looking sign saying the credit card machine is out of order. Yeah right. But you managed to get an ATM in there. I'm calling BS on that. Toilets are locked. Again 15 euros. Sort that out.

This was our second visit, this time at night. The views were wonderful, looking across Prague all lit up. Photos are a bit difficult to take due to the glass and reflections from the dimly lit rooms. Definitely one for the list of must-dos.

Google
This uniquely shaped tower offers fantastic 360° views of Prague. But, I found the interior a little dull and uninspiring. No details on the towers history or construction. There is no exterior observation deck. So you'll have take photos through the glass and try to avoid glare. Trying to get back down the tower took a long time as a line up had formed and apparently no one is counting how many people are going up and eventually back down. But, overall, it is a worthwhile destination just for the views alone.

Google
The Prague Television Tower is a striking landmark offering panoramic views of the entire city, making it a great spot for photography. The restaurant at the top provides a unique dining experience, but it’s important to pre-book in advance. A must-visit for anyone wanting a combination of sightseeing and fine dining.

Yelp
The views were great! It was quite stinky in there the whole time we were in there and very humid, other than that it was fine.

Yelp
I lived next door to this tower for months with a lovely view of it from my living room window before I finally decided to stop in for a visit. Actually, it was quite on accident that I met someone one evening who gave me a tour. The Zizkov TV Tower is known as the ugliest building in Prague by most of its natives, but I quite enjoy the uniqueness of the structure. And seeing it towering amidst the sea of buildings always let me know which way was home:) No matter where you are in Prague, its hard to miss that iconic landmark soaring over the skyline. There are nine pods along the tower - the three lower ones at around 210 feet house a beautiful restaurant/bar with glass windows all around, offering a 360-degree view as you dine. Right upstairs from the restaurant, a few feet up, is a luxury one-bedroom hotel! And the three pods above those contain the observatory deck where you can also get a panaromic view of Prague. So, we stopped in to the tower late evening just after sunset, and we were actually able to go up to the observation deck without having to pay as you do during the day. The elevators to the right took us up to the restaurant. And then the elevators to the left took us to the observation deck. Nighttime views are great. My fave part of the observation deck is the dimly lit, zen-like room with the space pod chairs. Suspended from the ceiling by one chain with another chain loosely holding each chair to the ground, and allowing it to sway gently as you sit in ... utter bliss! Felt like you were floating. I could have stayed there forever. We actually stayed up there for quite a while. One of the other rooms on this level shows where the tower ranks among its fellow towers in the World Federation of Great Towers. To note: David Cerny's giant bronze baby statues that crawl up the sides of the tower were removed for restoration, to be returned later this year. However, if you don't get a chance to see the babies on the tower, you can see three more of them "crawling" in Kampa Park, right next to Charles Bridge and the Cerny Museum.

Yelp
Hey as other reviewers have mentioned, it''s not the most attractive structure. During the day it's a gray color but at night it looks pretty cool lit up in blue and red lights. In the park area at the base of the tower there's a mini golf course during the summer and they have a little ice rink in the winter. Buy a ticket for 200 kc and ride the elevator up 93 meters to the observation room. The view is very good. They also have a restaurant which might be fun to try sometime.

Yelp
My husband I decided to head there on the last morning of our trip and it was worth it mostly cause we didn't have anything else that we really wanted to see. Nice view of the city and modern interior but not the most attractive building

Yelp
A real cool spot. I think a lot of tourists skip this place, but it's a mistake. It's really cool. Go at night for a sparkling night view!
