They change their menu weekly, so it’s unique every time you go, which makes it really fun to come back and try new dishes. The set menu is around $65pp, and we added the lamb side and some cocktails, which came to about $80–100pp. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The entrées were definitely a highlight, and the flatbread with cheese and kumquats was incredible, perfectly balanced and flatbread served warm, yum! The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, and their staffs are lovely and attentive. Overall, a great dining experience that never feels repetitive.

Lovely space, really attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Entrees were pretty average, tiny oysters and the chicken skewers tasted like some blended mince rather than decent thigh or breast meat. Steak was phenomenal, as was the eggplant it came with, and the whole fish was delicious though obviously had to work a bit for the meal due to all the deboning. Dessert was a fantastic mousse, maybe the best we've had. Great cocktails and wine selection, too. We were a bit worried after the entrees but the meal definitely stepped up from there and we had a great time.

A thoroughly impressive dinner menu and cocktail/wine range. Bar Liberty is a great venue if you’re looking to have an intimate dinner and drinks. I was really impressed by the quality of the food and flavour profiles of each of the dishes. The wholemeal sourdough was light and fluffy, the coral trout was had a great freshness and acidity to it that you look for in a seafood cerviche, the potato dumplings had such an interesting (good) texture with nice subtle flavours from the cheddar and sauces, the meat dish was seasoned very well and cooked to a perfect medium rare and the polpete has such a rich, juicy flavour profile. This was one of the best wine bar experiences I’ve had in Melbourne. The cocktails were very nice, and included some modern/novel takes on traditional cocktails and the staff were excellent. They were never too far away and took pride in the business’ work. The venue itself was nice and intimate and definitely one to think of if you’re looking to have a solid catch up with friends or family.

Booked for 9 people and had the $85 set menu — not worth the price. When paying, an extra bottle of wine was incorrectly added to our bill (later removed after I pointed it out). Then a 10% charge was added without warning, supposedly for using the upstairs room — which we did not request and were never informed about when booking. The menu also made no mention of this charge. To make it worse, the EFTPOS receipt showed the 10% as a “tip.” This felt misleading and dishonest. Check your bill carefully, or consider dining elsewhere.

We had a great group birthday dinner here. As somebody with dietary requirements I appreciated the attention to detail and extra care and friendly service from Christina. Thank you ! Overall - was quite expensive for the amount of food served however the friendly staff service made up for it. I had set menu and 4 cocktails and spent $230 which was expensive to leave still hungry.

Once my favourite restaurant, now a former shell of itself, disinterested staff, rude service, food delivery and execution has declined, was completely disappointed, staff seemed not to care and it was my friends birthday and felt I let them down by choosing this once amazing Melbourne icon, that has not completely failed on all accounts this visit. Melbourne has so many options support a business that has amazing staff food and experiences there is so many in this great city, this is now not one of them and no where ill ever spend my money again after how poorly we were treated.

We went to this wine bar for a dessert glass of wine and ended up eating two dishes and having a bottle of orange wine. We got this recommendation from a waiter at Embla (also a must visit in Melbourne). From the moment we entered we loved every second, from the menu - to the vibe - to the service! We sat at the bar, ordered more food although we just had a big diner but the menu looked so good we wanted to try some dishes. The wine selection is next level and the service from another planet. We ended up taking more wine home because we started chatting with the waiter who immediately understood our taste and could recommend us some amazing bottles. If you are a nature wine lover, please visit this bar. You will not be disappointed! We will be back next time we're in town.
