Champarado is something everyone should try at least once. My mum used to make it for me as a kid; warm, chocolatey glutinous rice for breakfast. It has got to be my most favourite Filipino breakfast dish. Ube is a staple, but never have I had them mixed together.
Leoncia's has introduced me to Ube Champarado and it is to drool over! I am eating it now for afternoon tea, and I am wishing this was an endless bowl.
Leoncia is such a gorgeous person, also. I met her last year and when I had an issue with a product (which was my fault), she was so helpful and kind.
Watching her with her customers and as she interacted with me in her new home at Castle Towers, was heart-warming. She is a true, kind soul with a wonderful sense of humour and the ability to engage in conversation. Her assistant was also so warm and welcoming.
They have a great range of food, dessert and drinks, all bringing me back to childhood.
Some can even be brought to take home, like the leche flan (a creamy, milky flan) and biko (sweet, sticky, coconut rice)- both a must-try. Leoncia will even give you instructions that allow you to enjoy them at their best when you get home.
Some may look like interesting combinations if you've never had them before, like sweet bread/cake with ube cream frosting and shredded cheese, but you will not regret taking the risk.
If you have never tried Filipino foods, Leoncia's is a great spot to start that journey. Those who are quite familiar will most likely attest to that too.
