The Welcome Hotel in Rozelle is a gorgeous back street corner pub, tucked away from the main drag. It's where locals go. It's got a front bar, a dining room and a courtyard out back. Something for everybody. The menu is extensive, way bigger and more adventurous than your average pub. They offer three cuts of steak: a 300g rump, a 250g sirloin, and a 400g porterhouse. We ordered the 250g sirloin. No mash option offered, so we ordered some 'Paris mash' as a side, which was nothing like genuine Paris mash, if we're being honest. The steak was good, although nowhere near their claimed 250g. The mash was not as creamy as Paris mash should be and the chicken gravy ruined it. Good mash doesn't need gravy, it just needs the meat accompaniment. Easy. Whilst the food was good, not great, but good, the front bar itself is an absolute gem. It's cosy, has a ton of tap beer options, and has a nice deep bar top - perfecting for sitting at and leaning on. And they had AFL on the TV. Result! The Welcome is a good pub!

What a Rozelle institution! Fantastic front bar - eat inside, the ambiance is unparalleled. The Scotch Fillet is one of the best valued steaks in Sydney. Cooked perfectly and not traditional in any way/shape/form, but perfect in its own Welcome way. Awesome pub!

The welcome hotel is a nice out of the way place but still in the middle of town. I had the chicken schnitzel and it was delicious but the construction of the dish was something else. The chicken was cooked spot on and the crumb was great. The tomato base was on the bottom or the first layer on the plate ( different). Then real Parma ham on top with buffalo mozzarella on top. Fantastic. The rocket salad (which I normally hate ) It wasn’t the peppery one and had a little parmesan cheese on it, I would have liked a bit more but I ate more than I thought. 5 out of five plates cleaned.

Food was excellent. Very delicious, generous portions. Quick service. Staff were excellent. This pub is very dog friendly, which is amazing. Very popular with pooches and their pawents. 🐶

This is written after my second time eating here, the first time I time I was blown away with how good it was, the Sunday roast was beautiful, the veg was tasty and the Yorkshire was cooked to perfection. This time was less good. This time the roast was old and dry, they’d run out of most of it by 6pm (understandable to an extent) but if what you have left is the dry remnants, and your charging the same for it, it says a lot about your business. This time, as well, I got the most obnoxiously sized, inedible Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever seen. Size aside, it was almost black and rock solid, the whole experience of eating it was a chore. Whoever was in charge of the kitchen today (Sunday 23/11) had no respect for the customers. I honestly loved my first time here so much only a month and a half ago, it was leagues ahead of the surrounding (and plentiful) competition. So today I will review and give 3 stars, because I had a 5 star experience the first time and 2 star experience the second time. And the lack of consistency over just 2 visits is already concerning.

9th November - Our lunch choice today was The Welcome Hotel - a great story behind the name of the hotel and given the background of the hotel and the inclusion of dogs being welcome is such a great idea - not the we had ours with us but still it was nice to see such a pub. Quite historic in its decor and a great garden to enjoy our lunch in. The menu had some great options and we enjoyed the Balmain Bug and the Prawn Toast'ada. Unfortunately the Spiced Crispy Cauliflower and Cucmber Raita was not as nice as we expected - it felt a little over fried and the battering took away from the meal. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Great place for lunch in an unexpected part of the Rozelle neighbourhood

Best pub in an area of a lot of good pubs. Food is always on point and specials always interesting and new. Beer taps change regularly and nice and fresh. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Walked in , super low personality behind the bar . . Looked at by the oldies as I felt eyeballs on me possibly because I’m slightly urban . I Was super friendly and was served buy a guy with the personality of a grasshopper .. will not be back . 1/100. .all I wanted was a beer in a fine looking establishment . People who are not locals move on . Fancy that! The unwelcome bar for the win

Yelp
This is my local pub and has been since I lived down the street a few years ago. This place never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and have always been able to squeeze my food order out of the kitchen at 9.58pm on a Wednesday on many an occasion. (Thanks again to the legends back in the kitchen). For a pub or even compared to many places I have eaten the food is top shelf and I never regret the money I spend eating and drinking the broad range of beers they have. The feel of this place is old , comfortable and familiar. Always a few grey haired fellas sitting in the corner and many others with family or friends. Great place and close to my heart. Love it!

Yelp
This is another one of those awesome pubs that tend to be tucked away in the back streets. Yeah, that is one of the things that I absolutely love about the inner city, and that is pubs that generally aren't all that obvious. Yeah, this pub certainly does have a lot of charm about it, and in fact it has a pretty cool beer garden as well. Oh, and they also have a great selection of beers. Yeah, this is definitely working making the effort to visit.

Yelp
WEDGES!!!! Crispy is by far my favorite word in the English language. I like my wings crispy, my bacon fat crispy, and above all, my WEDGES crispy. And the Welcome delivers. The Welcome's wedges, rather than being coated, are just straight-up potato, as a perfect wedge should be. I'm assuming they are twice-fried to achieve the crispitty, crunchitty, golden brown outside and the soft, creamy, volcanically-hot inside. Why 4 stars, you might say? They give you rather small dishes of sweet chilli and sour cream for your dipping pleasure. I always run out of sweet chilli about halfway through my mountain of crispy, potatoe-y goodness. I then have to embarrass myself by waiting patiently in the food-buying queue before sweetly holding out the empty dish and asking rather sheepishly for more sweet chilli from the always friendly and accommodating staff. And no, it's never crossed my mind to just eat the wedges sans sauce. Condiments on wedges like this are worth more than your self esteem. Oh yea, and the bar's pretty nice too :) Very pub-like without being too old-mannish, with a nice garden. BF says they have some of the best Guinness in Sydney. Wedges and Guinness- what more could a Irish-pub-loving Yelper want?

Yelp
A constant rotation of craft beer taps in a cosy pub with friendly staff, phenomenal food and a great beer garden to unwind in.

Yelp
They have a new chef and new management. The food is spectacular and the best it's been since I've been coming here regularly - which is from '04.
