Definitely an interesting street to see if visiting Boston. Its like a residential street was rezoned as commercial, but no architectural changes were allowed. Very unique. The streets were a bit chaotic, so I wouldn't plan on a leisurely stroll if coming on a weekend day, but worth seeing.

A quintessential Boston experience would include walking up and down Newbury Street. Emphasis on the walking though lol. Driving and parking on Newbury may not be your friend, but walking up and down while also popping into the different stores sure is. There's plenty of clothing stores, shoe stores, restaurants, fast casual spots, boutique stores, etc. and the stores become more high-end the closer you get to the Public Gardens. Truly a gem in Boston.

I loved strolling Newbury street for its atmosphere, historic brownstones, elegance, old charm. I liked it so much, I went to check it out twice during my visit. We walked here easily from Kenmore Sq. but there's Hynes Convention Center T-stop at the beginning of the famous street. Cute buildings and shops, lots to explore, cafe-s, restaurants. Unfortunately more chains took over from the time my husband lived near by. I wasn't impressed with the selection of restaurants either, couldn't find a place to dine here at. Lots of boba drinks shops. Very pleasant to stroll, you can walk as much as you like. The shopping area goes for about 8 blocks. A must see area in the Back Bay of Boston! Their main outdoor, historic, shopping area!

We came here early morning looking for cafe to eat breakfast, options were limited so we started strolling down newbury street. It's lined with brownstone houses and underneath was either restaurants or boutiques. Many restaurants on ground level too. Most shops are opened at 10am. There were beautiful floral planters in front of the row of historic buildings. It was very nice to walk around. Similar to Santana Row in San Jose, outdoor, upscale, expensive and lively but with more history to boost. Recommend a visit when you are in Boston.

It can be said that Newbury Street is the beating commercial heart of Boston. Apparently, it is also reportedly one of the most expensive streets in the world with its luxury stores. We loved wandering around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston with our little dog. We visited primarily to walk, dine, and do some light shopping. I cherished seeing the beautiful brownstone buildings. Newbury Street proved to be a great place to eat, shop, and observe. It definitely has the city-bustle, with many people coming and going along their way. We observed that stores and restaurants seemed pricier closer to the gardens and become more affordable as you make your way down the street. It's not the easiest place to park, so I'd recommend a car service there or taking public transportation. Also, be sure to head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance. Loved our visit here and highly recommend.

The only qualm I have about Newbury street is that the stores don't open until 10 am. If you are an early riser like I am, and visiting Boston with a very limited time frame, it's annoying when you want to seize the day and mine included walking up and down Newbury street at 8 am but have nothing to show for it other than a cup of coffee and shin splints from all the walking I did. The street is beautiful, a must if you enjoy shopping. Parking, forget about it on a Friday. I had better luck parking on a Thursday but Friday, nope. It was a nice way to spend the morning and my bank account thanks Newbury street for not opening businesses until 10 am.

Rated one of the most expensive streets on earth! This is a long street that you can spend all day on. From shopping, eating, people watching, or exercising; you won't be bored. We went on a Saturday and this place was packed! You can't even pull off to the side because you might get rear ended by other walkers haha. It runs east to west, a mile-long, and is located in the Back Bay area. Aside from shops and restaurants, there are historic brownstones. Parking is located on street but I'm sure it's hard to find a spot. On the Arlington Street side, where the address numbers are lower, the expensive shops are clustered there. To name a few, Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie, Ralph Lauren, and Chanel. We went in April and the magnolia trees were in full bloom; the weather was perfect. It's definitely a hot spot for locals and tourists. Start the morning off there getting a boba tea, then lunch, then shop shop shop!

Recommended as a "must do" by a local friend - I'm glad I walked this street and spent an afternoon shopping and browsing the food shops along Newbury. It gets REALLY crowded and hard to walk during peak times, but there are some shops here I haven't seen anywhere else - like Away, Rothy's, AllBirds, etc. Some niche brands. The beautiful brownstone buildings reminded me of NYC and Munich, Germany and are very charming. Some high-end shopping to be found here as well to include Chanel, Van Cleef, Tiffany's, Cartier, etc. Def. worth the trip if you are around and want to have lunch and shop.

This is an interesting district to visit while in Boston... The architecture is beautiful, it's all row houses, in brown stone style and underneath each one is a restaurant or shop. Most all are boutiques and local, but every once in a while, you'll come across a national brand, like Capital Burger. Definitely worth a visit and stay for a meal, as there are so many amazing option! But - (the only "but") are the locals... So many self-absorbed who don't care about others (tho they vote and project like they do) who are obnoxious, annoying, and self-centered. Tought to share narrow sidewalks with such humans.

Fairly nice street that every resident of Boston would know of, and every visitor should visit. A mix of chichi stores, clothing, restaurants, and the like, with a number of historic churches along the way (and also on Boylston Street). Recommended to start on the Mass. Ave. end of the street and mosey on over to the Public Gardens and Boston Common.

Excellent as usual we had a girls day here we do so monthly if you have never been here you must go my grandmother used to take me shopping here twice a month of of my favorite Streets.

Come with a large limit on your credit card but not on Thanksgiving Day cuz all brand name high end businesses were closed. A luxury shopping street with names like Tiffany, Rolex, Ralph Lauren and more on both sides of the street. If you are high makamaka with wads of cash at your disposal this street is for you, Many shop frontages even on the sidewalks and doorways are already decked out for Christmas. We could only enter and have a latte and croissant on Newbury Street as everything else was shut. Tomorrow, Black Friday may be a whole different story.

If you like expensive stores, small portions, and big crowds then Newbury Street is the place for you

When I go to Boston where do I shop and eat the most hmmmm Newbury Street. I just love the vibe here the environment is so cool.

We have made this a place to visit during every holiday season through the hotel's various ownerships. Knowing one cannot make a reservation we planned to get to the Street Cafe mid afternoon hoping for a short wait. The pleasant hostess told us it would be at least 45 minutes so we went to the bar area where we found one seat for my wife! As we entered we noted a table for two in front of the non working fire place ( a disappointment ) but we were told a couple were on their way! Well after 45 minutes we were able to grab a second seat at the bar and cancelled at the front desk. Again as I walked up to the front desk I observed the same table for two still empty! This was concerning and disappointing because no restaurant wants an empty table! Our food was very good and bar service was excellent just an overall double disappoint on the table and fire place

Great street for unique consignment shops and restaurants. If you love to support small businesses, this is a nice shopping destination.

We enjoyed the nice relaxing stroll around Newbury Street. Wide side walk and people not in a hurry. There is a very fancy shake shack if you need a pit stop.

My family and I went to Boston recently and we visited Newberry Street. It is a famous street with many shops and local establishments. The road itself is very cool and unique in a lot of nice restaurants that look like it had some excellent food. Street itself is popular and famous for some reason I'm not really sure why but reading the reviews and visiting it is one of the more popular streets. It had a lot of shopping places in photo ops for sure

This is my go to spot for a great wander whenever I am in town. I have even found some amazing deals here - your start at the Public Garden end where you are greeted with Tiffany's. I am amazed and delighted as to the array of places you will find tucked along this street - anything from high end to some great deals and just about everything you can imagine in between. My personal fav is the TJ Maxx which has some incredible deals but it really is a lovely stroll no matter what you are shopping for. There are also a ton of great food spots, cafes, coffee houses, ice cream shops and Condom World is you need to glove up! No judgement but if you cannot find what you need on this street then the likely answer is that you just really do not need it!

If you're visiting boston and looking for a place to go walking or to go shopping I would highly recommend Newbury Street. I grew up in Boston so I haven't spent a ton of time there, but it's a beautiful street lined with a ton of options. Even if you can't afford to go shopping, it's a beautiful street to go walking on. The stores and restaurants are on the pricier side, but I can definitely see the demographics changing. They still have Lush, H&M, and Forever 21 if you have a lower budget. It's always crowded with cars and bikes, but perfect for any kind of weather.

Best Comic store ever a whole lot of stuff for comic nerds and for people just getting into this kind of pop culture. Probably the biggest Funko pop selection in all of boston

The people watching central of Back Bay... Newbury Street has some of the finest shopping and dining in Boston too. There's a little bit of everything available here: Grab your morning coffee, get a blowout, have your nails done, do lunch, go shopping, heaf over to happy hour and grab dinner. Apparently, it can be exhausting to be a Trust fund baby that never has to work! The deal: you can't get anywhere in a hurry on Newbury Street. So, leave extra time to make your way through the crowded sidewalk.

This is Boston's Rodeo Drive and there's lots of options here. My husband who was my boyfriend at the time, would work at FCUK and we would go to Stephanie's on Newbury and have lunch there while we people watched. This place is getting more and more expensive every time I come to visit. However, I love their candies stores, Sonsi's restaurant (which is also worth checking out) and bakeries, restaurants, you name it.

I just walked up half of the street after attending the 2019/Boston Book Festival and to note, for Boston, traditionally Newbury Street has been a combination of fashion and trend similar to Fifth 5th Avenue in NYC when it comes to the higher end/designer stores. The thing about Newbury Street is that it is always changing even more so over the last 30 years, first with addition of the high end mall at Copley Place and then Prudential Center, although some of those tenants have returned to Newbury or its sister/cousin/parallel street/Boylston Street--which is sort of a 2nd tier but the notable home of the Apple Store and Crate and Barrell (C&B decamped from Copley Place, etc.) Newbury Street is lined with brownstones and other mid sized buildings. There were a few schools years ago notably the School of Fashion Design and the Boston Architectural Center I think both still exist today. Besides the high end designer boutiques it was also known for art galleries many of which are now gone, relocated to SOWA or other locations in and around the city--there are a couple of hold outs. The Exeter Theater is a beautiful building was shuttered, opened as a lovely Waterstones bookstore then shuttered again and part of rented out as a restaurant--back in the day a TGI Friday's now an outpost of Joe's American Bar and Grill. The stores/restaurants/cafes are ever changing and feature national chains as well as indies. Many of the chain starting coming in during the late 1980's and early 1990's. The revolving doors are due to the rents and trends. Chains from out of state/national chains tend to set up shop because of Newbury's reputation and then leave/or relocate when the lease is up/general rule with some exceptions -- Anthropolgie moved from former location on Boylston to the space at the former Prince School, etc. Logistics: Newbury's blocks go in alphabetical order from Clarendon down to Gloucester streets that dissect it. The blocks that lead from Copley Square T toward Arlington Street and the Public Garden tend to be more on the higher end--the blocks from Copley leading toward the Hynes T. Stop or Mass. Ave. nicknamed "upper Newbury" traditionally were more trendy and indie shops. I'm not sure this really applies any more to the entire street. Anyway for a complete walk down get off either Arlington T or Hynes T stop and walk although the way down or up, etc. In the winter most of the trees have pretty white lights, sometimes in the summer--the city will close it cars. Otherwise use caution crossing the breaks between the blocks. On my walk last weekend--I noticed that BackBay Hardware was still there but had moved to a smaller location. Now this past week I read it was closing. I also passed local chain-let restaurant Paparazzi--it relocated from Newbury and Dartmouth years ago but I've never visited this location, and I won't be able to because I also read this past week Paparazzi is shutting the Newbury St. location. So much for that theory. To note, though the Trident Bookstore Cafe an indie favorite was packed and overflowing I could not even get through the door!

A MUST DO! Newbury Street is a premiere destination shopping experience with unique shops & restaurants in old brownstone buildings located in Downtown Boston. I love the old brownstones & how they've kept the integrity of these buildings yet repurposed & updated them for a unique shopping & dining experience. What's great about Newbury Street is you are not stuck in some stuffy mall with the same old chain stores. You pop In & Out of different shops & boutiques & there's a lot of one of a kind shops & restaurants to explore here on both sides of the street. Besides that, there's some great historic & architectural beautiful buildings in the area you should check out as well. There is street metered Parking & there are also parking lots in the area too. INSIDE MONEY SAVINGS TIP. In Boston on Sundays parking at the Meters is FREE. You might want to check out some surrounding streets & snag a Free Parking Spot. Always Check the signs some spots are designed for Residents Only who live in the neighborhood! Now if you are a Shopaholic & run out of shops to explore on Newbury Street, don't worry. Newbury Street is walking distance to both The Prudential Center & Copley Place with even more restaurants & shops. You could spend the entire day & night here & some people do. LOL! . It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have The Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've Been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like A King On A Limited Budget!

Newbury Street is a quaint, pretty, outdoor "shopping" area with shops, restaurants, and specialty stores of all types. Start at one end and walk to the other end, cross the street and come back. It's a long walk, but on a sunny day there's almost nothing better. Pro tip: use the restroom in the basement of Shake Shack if necessary. Some other highlights of the street, although of course everyone has their favorites, is Newbury Comics - a long time comics and pop culture store great for all ages; Saltie Girl for expensive but delicious oysters, fried clams, and other seafood specialties; any number of authentic Taiwanese bubble tea bars; Trident Booksellers for off the beaten path titles; Muji for minimalist travel and organizational accessories, along with simple clothing items; and even a store that specializes in anime and manga collectibles. Yes, they have their high-end shops here as well, but merely strolling the brownstone lined street and taking in the people watching is half the fun.

I either walk down this street or cross it everyday to get to where I am going. It is a beautiful street, lined with trees, brownstones, stores, restaurants and all that. They have several of my favorite stores including Sephora for my skincare items and Vince for clothing. The stores on this street tend to be a bit pricey but the street is one of the most prestigious in my neighborhood that is to be expected. Lots of tourists come down this street everyday to look at the various shops and eat in the many restaurants that are located on this street. I am very lucky to live in the area and be able to walk down this street each and every day. For it is absolutely beautiful. Lots of people living on this street and on the various other streets around here enjoy shopping and dining on this street just as much as the tourists do and the street is always bustling everyday with people enjoying all that it has to offer. I have always loved Newbury Street and forever will.

Whether it's Black Friday or just every other day of the year when the US is obsessed with consumerism, Newbury Street is a good time. It's lined with as many high-end shops as you'd ever want (from boutiques like Rag & Bone to kitchen design stores and larger brands like G-Star Raw), a few interesting eateries, street vendors and much, much more. If you're in Boston for the day and at a loss for what to do, I would absolutely recommend a stroll along the strip. As one unnamed person in our party said after, "Ohhhh...so Boston DOES have something to offer."

One stop shop for all your shopping/souvenirs for friends and family! I walked here 3 days a row just to shop around and get presents. This place is within walking distance of Boston Conservatory where my friend goes to school. To kill time while she was in school, I came here! This street is pretty long and has both shops and eateries. I loved walking down the street seeing all the different shops and bought stuff from a lot of them. Here's a list of places I personally shopped at. 1. '47: This place has all the Boston sports apparel you could ask for! They have hats, hoodies, shirts of all your favorite Boston teams! I personally bought a Boston Red Sox baseball tee from here. The worker was super helpful and chill. With the time difference being 6 hours between Hawaii and Boston, I needed to wait until my friend woke up before I could ask her what type of shirt she wanted. The worker was super nice and told me I could chill on the couch for as long as I needed. He also offered my friend a discount for being a student. I got $5 off my tee! Sweet! 5/5 2. The Patisserie on Newbury: I really wanted Boston Cream Pie in Boston, so I came here! They had pastries and cakes that were individual sized! Exactly what I wanted since I would be eating it by myself. They had the cutest little Boston Creme Pie that was dome-shaped and covered in chocolate for $5. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed by the inside of this cute cake. It was literally more than half the 'creme' part and 1/3 part cake. This was definitely not the Boston Cream Pie was expecting to get in Boston. Shucks! 3/5 3. Stephanie's on Newbury: I came here for brunch one day and this place reminds me of a hotel or an inn. It was so cute inside! Once we were seated and I saw the prices, I was like whoa! This is kinda pricey! But, once the food came, I could see why! The portions here are HUUUGEE!!! I got the Breakfast Skillet which came with eggs, sausage, bacon, and potatoes. I was thinking okay one of those individually sized skillets. When it came... OMG!! It was the regular sized skillet that could probably feed 2-3 people! There were around 5 pieces of bacon, 2 whole sausages, at least 3 eggs, and a mound of potatoes! It was MASSIVE! I couldn't even finish half of it. My friend got the Smoked Salmon Bagel and her portion was huge too! It came with at least 6 slices of smoked salmon, capers, cream cheese and a whole bagel. She also only finished like half. Definitely would consider sharing whatever you get! 4/5 4. Amorino: I was seriously sooo excited when I saw they had this place on Newbury! I've seen pictures of the beautiful roses made of gelato and sorbetto, I knew I needed to come here even if it was 33 degrees outside! I was so overwhelmed by the array of flavors they had, I ended up texting my friend to ask her what flavors she likes. I decided to get banana, strawberry, and mango on a small cone. I was sooo disappointed by my rose! It didn't look like a rose at all!! I was so bummed.. but the actual sorbet was sooo good! The flavors were spot on! Tasted like just like frozen fruit! 3/5 5. Harry Potter: A Harry Potter fanatic's dream come true! This place had almost everything you would want! They had wands, scarves, mugs, all types of candies from the movies, pins, stickers, and much more! I came in here because my mom loves Harry Potter and I wanted to see if there was anything unique I could get for her. Honestly, this store was extremely overpriced. I ended up getting a wand for my friend that lit up for around $15. 3/5 Overall, this is a great shopping street that I had lots of fun exploring! Oh! If you're looking for a Shake Shack, they have one on this street! :)

Newbury Street is a must for anyone visiting Boston. Even if you don't enjoy shopping, the tree-lined street of brownstones from Mass Ave. to the Public Gardens is beautiful and great for people watching. There are also many choices for restaurants and cafes. I was fortunate to have spent the morning and afternoon strolling around with a couple of girlfriends when the magnolia trees and tulips were in bloom. Breathtaking. ***SEE PHOTOS***

Newbury Street is the shopping street of Boston between Mass. Ave and Arlington St. It's a long street that is made up of high end stores, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and mainstream wear. It's all in these old row buildings so there's a lot of going up and down stairs to reach these stores so not the easiest if you're not mobile and if the weather is not great. Best way to get here if you don't have a car - take the green line on the T. The high end stores like Burberry, Chanel and Tiffany's plus others are closer to Arlington St; get off at the Arlington T station and Newbury is just less than a minute by foot. Most of the mainstream stores like Forever 21 are on the opposite end of Newbury by Mass. Ave which is by the Hynes Convention Centre T. There's lots to look at on this street. It's like a mix of SoHo (NYC), Queen St West (Toronto) and Plateau Mont-Royal on St. Denis (Montreal) but of course with the architecture that is pure Boston. Loved this street!

I'm not much of a shopper, but Newbury Street has it going on! Cool shops, great old architecture, restaurants and an overall nice vibe. During the warmer months, there are tons of people hanging out at outdoor cafes/bars...even some street music. I'll take high-end shopping on a city street over the mall any day. 4 stars.

Great for shopping, horrible for driving and parking. It would be better if there was more parking and had wider sidewalks but that's impossible...or boston could get all those shops to also congregate in another area too so not everyone goes here when it's not snowing or seemingly warmer. We have Cambridgeside...but the shops aren't as nice. And the Pru is basically part of this street. Anyway, sometimes the shops have great sales, so when they do you better get there before noon, otherwise there will be huge crowds and maybe lines out the doors of restaurants

Beautiful tree lined streets with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants in the 1st floor of many brownstones. It looks like it's gorgeous all year round. Sunny in the summer, blooming in the spring and frosty with Christmas lights in the winter.

I love coming here cause there is a very large variety of stores to shop from and tons of different restaurants! Whenever it's nice out this is the place to be because you get to enjoy the weather and shop at the same time! I go here pretty often in the summer and it's just a long street full of things to do and things to eat. They also have this great Cake place called lady m which is my favorite. The only downside here is the parking. It's so hard to find parking and if you find parking right on the street itself you have to pay for parking and you could only park there for 2 hours max, plus the meters are super expensive. I just think the amount of money you pay and the time you get to park isn't worth it.

Pleasant promenade with the beautiful architecture and trees to enjoy nice restaurants, shops, and people watch.... Parking tends to be easier and cheaper on Boylston street.

I am a giant fan of Newbury Street and make a point to come to this neighborhood whenever I visit Beantown. The houses are gorgeous and the shops, bakeries, coffee shops, and restaurants are great. You are guaranteed a good time people-watching whenever you stop and look around. AT and I have found several places that we really enjoy visiting but mostly, we like taking in the city through the architecture. Parking can be a pain, just like it is in other popular neighborhoods in other major cities but as Giang-Tien M. mentions, Boylston Street is a fantastic option. Luckily, I usually resolve my parking situation within five minutes of being in Back Bay. Just be open to checking on adjacent streets. [#Yelp365: 42/365]

I wish this store had a bigger selection of merchandise like the one in Faneuil hall. Def better than the square one mall location, still a nice store though. Bring dvds and blu rays back please!!!! Love this store otherwise

Newbury street is the place where you'll find many little boutiques and high-end stores along the Newbury Street corridor, along with overpriced restaurants and cafes. It's nice for a stroll before or after dinner. Newbury Street isn't meant for everybody. If you're shopping on a budget or prefers to shop on a budget, or for a deal, you'll probably not find much here. The stores are mostly highend shops, but they are worth exploring. There are also plenty of great restaurants along the way, and I highly recommend Rebecca's for Sunday Brunch! Many great coffee shops too, and at least one chocolate shop for those who have a sweet tooth!

An assortment of shops,restaurants and art sellers line this 8 block strip. Did you know the very first building on this street was and still is the Emmanuel church? Newbury street was the location of the MIT campus from 1865-1916 before it was relocated to Cambridge. The name comes from the Battle of Newbury during the English Civil War in 1643.

If I were to shop anywhere in Boston, it would be Newbury! You won't get your touristy items here, but you can pick up a lot of quality items. What better way than to shop outdoors on a beautiful day in Boston, just do it! You get anywhere from your high end stores to your regular Forever 21 on Newbury. On Dartmouth St where Copley stop is on the T (subway system) is a good place to get off if you're riding the it. If you go west, you'll find more budgeted stores where if you go east, it's get more pricier. You'll love walking around here with the brown stones building along the whole street and just be one of the Bostonians! PS. If you break your apple products, there's an Apple store on Newbury!

People sitting in outdoor cafes. Locals walking their dogs. Out of towners shopping at their favorite stores. Newbury Street is a staple in Back Bay. I spent hours and hours walking up and down Newbury Street eating, shopping, bar hopping, and people watching. This is a must stop to give yourself a break from all the sightseeing you'll do on your visit to Boston. Yeah the Freedom Trail, Fanheuil Hall, Boston Common, Public Park, and Harvard Square are great places to visit but when you need a little R&R, Newbury Street is the place to do it.

I enjoy walking Newbury Street whenever I'm in the area. Tons of shops, stores, restaurants, and cafes. Definitely a good place to shop and/or grab a bite. I love that most places have outdoor seating so when the weather is nice you can enjoy it outside. Also, you can enjoy the old architecture in most buildings. Definitely must come if you are visiting Boston!

Shops, shops, shops. . . all on one street! Everytime I'm in Boston, I come here. Parking REALLY sucks, but there are times I get lucky! You can find all kinds of stores here. High end to novelty. I usually come here if I need to go to UGG australia, since its the ONLY one in MA! Stephanie's is a great place to grab lunch, if they aren't busy! Everytime I walk on this street, I feel like I'm in a movie. So much character. You definitely need to check this place out if you love shopping and are from out of town!
