OMG. I love this place! You need hours to go browsing through every little nook and cranny and it absolutely blows your mind. It’s like walking into a Time Machine and being taken off to different times in your childhood. There are modern things there too. Anything from memorabilia (incl. war) to jewellery, clothing, Lego, beautiful glass and kitchenware, Asian art, art of all kinds actually, to name just a few things. If you are into vintage and old stuff, this is your place. And even if you’re not, this will be your place anyway 😆
The staff are so knowledgeable and so very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. If you see something, you note it down and they come with the key and open up the cabinet. They chat with you and clearly enjoy the whole experience with their customers. It’s a very well organised and professional setup, and whenever I go to Melbourne, I head straight there for a day of wonder and anticipation (what might I discover this time!) Chapel Street Bazaar is the sort of place that puts a smile on your face every time you walk in, your shoulders drop from the stress of the city, and you are left to wander through a world of fascination. Give yourself a good half day because you will need it, you have to look at every tiny little corner otherwise you’ll miss out. I never walk away without a treasure.
