Iberostar Grand Hotel Budapest

My wife and I were in Budapest for a quick 36 hours and the Iberostar was out of this world! The staff was very helpful when we arrived around 10am. They greeted us with water (or sparking wine) and stored our bags for us until we could check in. The rooms view was amazing and the room itself was stunning. The rain shower and deep soak tub were exactly what we needed after a long few days of travel. The rooms are extremely quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Our flight didn’t leave until late so once again they stored our bags and gave us a shot of coffee liqueur. The location itself is very central - walking distance from most things including the tram, St. Stevens, the river, and lots of great food. I have traveled a fair share in my life and this was by far the best service I’ve ever experienced. Sad we had to leave! Would stay here again without hesitation.

Wonderful and gracious staff. Very professional. Beautiful rooms. The breakfasts were just perfect, not continental but, full. Food was delicious. As a mixed couple, we were received well and treated well. This hasn't always been the case in our European travels.

Location is excellent, neighbourhood is safe and upscale, all of the staff are friendly and professional and very welcoming. The rooms are large with high ceilings, big tv, big bathrooms. The thing about this hotel is the crazy decor, looks like Euro Barbie’s Hotel, crazy silver chairs and couches in the lobby, red and white bedrooms. If they changed the decor/furnishings to contemporary with neutral colours they could charge more.

This hotel was dreamy. We loved everything about it. The room was very specious and fully equipped with all the amenities. The jacuzzi and saunas (wet and dry) just hit the spot after spending some time in the cold weather. The food at the breakfast buffet/restaurant was delicious and made to order and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. By far the best hotel I stayed at.

Great stay. The staff were very helpful and warm. Really liked Balentine and Norbert - they really went out of their way to discover what we liked and then made suggestions. The hotel location was great - there was a festival going on outside, but we only really heard it when we opened our windows. Lots of sidewalk cafes and pubs right outside the hotel. Our room was updated and the bathroom was as big as ours at home. Even had a soaking tub. I don't write many reviews, but this stay was special. Highly recommend.

Love this hotel, has a great scent inside it's clean and fresh. Stylish hotel overall and the rooms are very comfortable. Great bar area for drinks and cocktails but its a bit pricey so do be careful especially on the wine prices.

Staying over Christmas Rooms very spacious and clean great rain shower and comfy bed. Breakfast plenty and good choice of hot dishes available. Staff friendly and helpful. Spa is excellent with the sauna turkish bath and whirlpool. Located near to chain bridge. Overall very good.

A 5-star experience is about service primarily, more so than the amenities. This hotel is not a 5-star establishment. Here are the reasons why and our experience: 1. We have arrived at the hotel late due to a flight delay to have found the hotel has cancelled our 3-nights reservation without notifying us by email or phone call. The receptionist said that they cannot notify all the people who are late, which shows the poor level or training, service and overall lack of respect for the customers. 2. Upon hearing we went to the attached restaurant to eat after the long trip. Worst beef gulash (and I tried that in all Budapest restaurants) and worst customer service we have had in Budapest so far. The restaurant was empty and yet the servers did not proactively attend to us, even with a small baby who was hungry, and we repeatedly had to ask for things and remind them of our orders 3. During our lunch the receptionist came to us to say that another customer cancelled their reservation and now they can accommodate us. By that time we made a reservation at the Four Seasons (which turned out to be a wonderful idea). Seems customers have to notify for cancellations but the hotel does not have to notify its customers for their cancellations. 4. When we left the bellboy did not help us carry our luggage to the car and we had to do that ourselves (5 luggage in total) + a small child These were all the services I have experienced but they are enough for me to never use or recommend this establishment to anyone else.
