This is a fairly convenient Korean BBQ restaurant. My favorite thing about it in the summer is being able to eat outside. While the location on Bloor Street isn't particularly quiet, the street view and gentle breeze make it a pleasant experience to grill your meat, enjoy the smoky aroma, and have a beer or soju. Especially in the cooler evenings, the outdoor tables and chairs are full of young people, creating a lively atmosphere. The interior is decorated in a traditional Korean style, with built-in grills on the tables. The banchan (meatballs) are also quite complete, including classic kimchi, bean sprouts, and potato salad, with a decent, albeit unremarkable, selection. The meat selection is consistent with Daldongnae's usual standards: the signature pork belly, boneless short rib, and pork shoulder are fresh and flavorful after grilling, perfect with lettuce wraps and rice. Adding cheese corn or steamed eggs as side dishes is also a good idea. The price is mid-to-high for Korean BBQ in Toronto, but the value is decent, especially when sharing with friends. However, it seems to have declined in quality recently. The service was rather cold; taking orders, refilling water, and serving food were all done mechanically. Responses to questions or requests for extra sauce were brief and lacked enthusiasm. This might be due to the restaurant being busy, or the fact that this branch has a large student clientele, leading to a faster table turnover. The food portions were also noticeably smaller than a few years ago, especially the meat slices, which seemed thinner and less plentiful. What used to be a satisfying combo for two people might now just be enough, reducing the value for money. While refills of banchan are free, sometimes the servers don't proactively ask, so you have to ask for them yourself.
