"Dubrovnik’s star turn as King’s Landing in HBO’s Game of Thrones brought a new immediacy to the city’s historic sites. The infamous Season 5 “Walk of Shame” scene took place on the Jesuit Staircase that descends from Gundulić Square to St. Ignatius Church. Climb to the highest point of the City Walls—the round medieval Minčeta Tower, which stood in as the House of the Undying in Qarth. And fans can visit the Game of Thrones souvenir shop (Boškovićeva street ) to have their photo taken on a replica Iron Throne."

Can get very packed throughout the day, people sit on it during the day so it’s hard to get nice photos. As usual if you want an awesome photo without people, wake up early!

The Jesuit Stairs are one of Dubrovnik’s most iconic landmarks, famously featured in the “Walk of Shame” scene from Game of Thrones. While the spot tends to be quite crowded — especially during peak hours — it’s definitely worth a visit for both fans of the series and history lovers alike. The architecture is beautiful, and the stairs open up to a charming square at the top. Once you reach the top, don’t miss Kopun, a fantastic restaurant just a few steps away. The food is excellent, the setting is peaceful despite the tourist buzz, and it’s a perfect reward after the climb. Right next to it, you’ll also find St. Ignatius Church, a stunning baroque church that adds to the beauty and serenity of the area. Whether you’re exploring Dubrovnik for its cinematic fame or its cultural depth, the Jesuit Stairs are a must-see — just try to go early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds!

The famous "Shame Stairs" from Game of Thrones are open again after being cleaned over the winter. We initially went to see them in the afternoon. Frankly, it was crowded and full of people trying to get their photos. We returned the next day at about 7:00 in the morning, and it was empty. If you really want special photos of the staircase, I highly recommend getting there early in the morning before the tours start.

As somebody who was in Rome and saw very similar stars - the Rome made it better, so I was made to remove one star from the rating. But hey... Don't worry, it was nice to see it after all :) Plenty of people there at around 10am already at the beginning of October.

Beautiful staircase! Leeds to a Church. It was definitely a popular picture spot long before its Game of Thrones fame. Gets super crowded by lunch time so if you want to get a proper photo you need to ho super early in the morning.

3/15/25 - also shake stairs from GOT. Very crowded during the day due to it being the main tourist attraction. If you are visiting and want pictures arrive very early. It is a public, so it is open at all hours

Wow what a nice place! It was a bit crowded but if you’re into GoT then it’s a must visit. There’s also a small bar at the bottom of the stairs where there’s a small bell which rings every 3-4 minutes and you’re bound to hear someone say “Shame” like the show! There’s also a shamejito that you can purchase.

Jesuit Stairs – Dubrovnik’s Most Dramatic Steps These sweeping 17th-century Baroque stairs are pure cinematic magic. Linking the bustling morning market in Gundulić Square with the gorgeous St. Ignatius Church (don’t miss the frescoes inside!), they’re one of the most beautiful and photographed spots in the Old Town. Game of Thrones fans will instantly recognize them as the steps of the Great Sept of Baelor – yes, this is where Cersei began her infamous Walk of Shame! Come early morning when the sun lights up the stone, or at night when it’s quiet and glowing. The view from the top over red rooftops is stunning, and the climb is totally worth it. A must-do photo stop in Stari Grad.
