"Wine Flight I love the wines of Mendoza, Argentina, but I wanted to marry the wines of Catena Zapata when I had the chance to drink them whilst overlooking the green vineyards backdropped by the soaring, snowcapped Andes peaks. The wines of Catena are mostly big reds made from malbec or cabernet, and they make some chardonnay and sauvignon blanc as well. The winery is fashioned after a stepped Maya pyramid and is furnished with state of the art equipment. Wine tours last about an hour and a half and finish at the tasting room, where you can purchase bottles of wine. Catena Zapata and the rest of the Mendoza region wineries are only open by appointment, so be sure to have a day's worth of wine tours booked in advance for your itinerary. Be sure not to skip over the city of Mendoza, as there are many wine tasting rooms featuring wines from the region and selling limited releases and other rarities not readily available at the wineries. Visiting Catena Zapata was an extraordinary experience. They exemplify the clear vision of a family business committed to bringing Argentine wine to the highest level of quality, variety, and research, and sharing this with the world. The winery is an architectural gem that pays homage to the Mayan culture. Its wines are gems in Mendoza that deserve to be discovered and enjoyed. The hospitality team's attention was unbeatable. Pablo explained the wines with the passion any family member would have, but Daniel ultimately finished with a flourish by showing us a distillery that in five years will proclaim to the world that good things come to those who wait. Catena Zapata is a must-see if you come to Mendoza, and if not, it's worth the trip to experience this magnificent project, a blend of extraordinary wines, art, architecture, gastronomy, culture, and the finest people.

Amazing experience at Wine & Music English tour. Property was beautiful, tour guide was great story teller. Malbec Argentina was superb.

I’m not sure if you can request a specific tour guide, but if you can—ask for Paula! She’s knowledgeable, funny, efficient, smart, and truly wonderful. The vineyard itself is absolutely gorgeous, and the wine is delicious—especially the Argentina Malbec line. The music-and-wine tasting experience was such a refreshing twist, particularly for someone who’s done many wine tours before. It felt thoughtful, unique, and really well curated. If you’re in Mendoza and planning wine tastings, this one is a must-do.

We contacted the winery directly via Whatapp a month prior and only a 9.30am tour was available in english, so I would suggest booking at least 2-3 months ahead! It was a very condensed tour which included a blending and tasting of 5 vineyard blocks of Malbec. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and we were able to purchase additional wine tastings from their enomatic dispensers in their store at the end of the tour.

Having been in other world known wineries in Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Napa, St Emilio’s, etc, Catena offers an interesting visit with small groups, beautiful tasting rooms, and a Tikal- inspired winery that’s very iconic compared to other wineries which don’t have an emblematic or special façade. However, for the price ($80 per person), not having some sort of food (except nuts), is surprising specially when other bigger more important wineries (such as Pago de Carraovejas) offer finger food for their own 2 star michellin restaurant for $60 per person. In a way it feels like a tourist trap.

Google
Recommend their tasting tour with music 🎵, nice history and legacy too. Nico gave a small group of us the tour in English. His passion and knowledge made this a memorable visit, and the wines are exceptional too. The property is stunning! 2nd review…we enjoyed the tour so much we brought our 16 friends. Nico and the wines were outstanding! Highly recommend.

Google
This was an absolutely amazing experience! Me and my wife are huge fans of Catena Zapata’s wines, so during our trip to Mendoza it was a must-do thing number one. And huge thanks to Daniel, our dream came true, even though we couldn’t book a tour as it was all reserved already and for many weeks ahead . Daniel provided us a great tour around their new distillery place, kindly showed very excited and beautiful things and details and helped with choosing the wine for us to buy. And also we had a wonderful walk around to look on beautiful wineries and nature! Thanks a lot! Cheers Daniel, we already opened that bottle and it’s brilliant!

Google
We had the pleasure of enjoying a private tour at the legendary Catena Zapata winery, and it was truly unforgettable. Danny guided us through the tour, sharing fascinating stories and history about the winery, which made the experience so engaging and special. The wine tasting with Carolina was equally amazing, her knowledge and passion made it even more enjoyable. To top it off, we visited the distillery beneath the Angelica Restaurant with Danny, where we discovered unique spirits. what an incredible experience! Thank you so much!

Yelp
I visited the Catena Zapata restaurant for a tasting and lunch. This Michelin star rated establishment is worth all the hype. They have a preselected menu and you get to choose the various wines (by packages) that you want to taste. They range from ~$80 - $2000 per person. Service was absolutely fantastic, exactly what you would expect from one of the top rated wineries in the world. Top notch and so knowledgeable of the family history, various regions, the terrain and all the varietals you are experiencing. The restaurant itself is built in a 2019 version of an old Italian villa, pebble Roads and strong looking towers and buildings. Gorgeous for pictures. If you are looking for a luxury experience and taste, definitely book yourself for a tasting at Catena Zapata.

Yelp
I had the most amazing time at Catena, doing a tasting and tour of the winery and dinner at their restaurant. We were treated so well and tasted some terrific wines, finishing with a glass of bubbly on the top of the Pyramid. I even had a special request which my tour guide (the amazing Flavia!) happily helped out with, making our visit that much more special. Come to Catena if you want stunning views, great service and world-class wine.

Yelp
We had a tour given by a gal named Florence. She has already gone through her sommelier a training exam and is very enthusiastic about wines. She took us to a room where they had unlabeled bottles and showed us a map of the region and all of the different vineyards that they have, explained their differences in elevation, soil and plantings. Then she took us to a barrel room and we tasted three different wines straight from the barrel. We then went to a tasting room and tasted three wines, Chardonnay, I'm all back and the Cabernet solving young all that had been aged for two years in barrels and then bottled. Then she took us to the roof and we got to see the view of the property from above. It was very pleasant tour although we did not get to see any production.

Yelp
Polished and ready, equipped with an architectural branding reminiscent of the Napa Valley. I thought of Opus One, for better or worse. The wines and the wine presentation: very solid, organized and holding up to the name sake. There is not much here that evokes the local culture, but it's notable and a well thought out experience.
