Yugjang

Place to go wherever i want something warm!! You can get yukgejang with rice or noodle!! For me the spicy is enough not too much like buldalk so it can be your must try food when visit Seoul!!✨️

육장 Yukjang Yukgaejang is spicy beef soup with vegetables. The way the soup is served varies from region to region(and of course, restaurant to restaurant). Here you can enjoy thick soup that is not that spicy. In my opinion, this is the best yukgaejang in the neighborhood, and arguably in Seoul as well. It's on the basement floor. You order with the machine(kiosk) in front of the entrance. 육개장 Yukgaejang: the basic one with a bowl of rice 육라면 Yuk Ramyeon: the same one, but with ramyeon noodle instead of rice 육갈탕 Yukgaltang: Yukgaejang with big beef rib 육갈라면 Yuk-gal-ramyeon: Yukgaltang with ramyeon noodle instead of rice 달걀말이 육개장 Dalgyal-mari Yukgaejang: Yukgaejang with egg roll.

I always have the yugjang ramen. If your spicy tolerance isn't as high like me, pairing it with the pear juice is perfect :) Noodles are cooked personally to my liking. I prefer slightly undercooked than overcooked. You can also include a bowl of rice if it isn't enough for you. You order from the machine outside first and then give the order receipt to the employee.

I had a little bit of a wait to get in since I was visiting on a busy Sunday at lunch time, but we'll worth the wait! They essentially serve just one dish, 유개장 (yukgaejang) which is a spicy stew with roast beef and served with either rice or ramen noodles. It takes a little longer to be served than is typical of most Korean restaurants, but that is because they are making it fresh to order. Not even the soup stock was pre-made, but Korean soup stocks don't take as much time to make as western soup stocks. The veggies taste fresh and delicious. The typical spice level is similar to kimchi stews, but they can adjust the spice level to your taste. I especially like that this place is a short hike from the nearest train station because it will discourage many people from trying it, but for those who do venture, be sure to pass through the Mangwon traditional market on the way for an added cultural experience.

Rly good 육개장. Definitely on the spicier side, which makes it all the better.
