On the Grid : Restaurante Juan Camaney

"Restaurante Juan Camaney offers a unique menu including pupusas, caldos, steak, pork chops, and tacos. Tucked into a West side neighborhood on the corner of Ford and Pulaski, the restaurant is a hidden gem for lovers of true Latin food. Pro-tip: the bright orange facade and white doors are fantastically attractive, but the real entrance is in the back off the parking lot." - West.SB

This place is not pupusas or salvadoreño at all. All items were Mexican. Drove 30 minutes to have pupusas. No horchata or anything other than sodas. the food was not bad. But for Mexican food, I don't need to drive 30 minutes.

I absolutely love this hidden gem of South Bend. Even though it’s a bright orange building, you’ll never find it unless you’re looking for it because it’s located in a residential area. The food is absolutely incredible. I’d never had a pupusa before, but on the insistence of one my friends I came here to give them a go. I had three and honestly, if they weren’t so good, I would not have been able to eat it all. The best part is that this entire meal cost me less than $10 before a tip. I expect to come back here again plenty in the future. If you’re from the South Bend area and haven’t had the chance to stop on by, you are really missing out.

I'm from out out town, visiting friends. it was May 2022. The food was great! The service as very good. If this restaurant was near my home. It would be one of my favorite destinations. I hope some day I come back to visit.

The papusas were fantastic as was the salsa. First time I've ever had papusas and I was not disappointed! Delicious! Staff was very friendly. Hopefully you speak Spanish because there are no menus but my experience was a good one. Will definitely be back.
