"One of the unique things about the Twin Cities is just how much nature is part of the urban landscape. Few places exemplify this better than Minnehaha, one of Minneapolis’s oldest and most popular parks. Here, visitors will find everything from limestone bluffs and river overlooks to a majestic 53-foot waterfall that freezes in winter. Explore the area via various walking and biking paths, or bring your furry friend to the epic dog park. There’s also a disc golf course, picnic area, playground, volleyball court, and wading pool, making the park perfect for family outings."

Yelp
The fried fish and fried shrimp are incredible. Loved the fries. Fast service, and right next to the Falls. Will be back for sure! We did not experience the long wait that others mentioned. We were there on a September Sunday, at about 2 pm. My advice? Go when there's a home game! The Vikings were busy handing the Bengals a big loss, so the park in general wasn't too crowded for such a gorgeous afternoon. We literally had zero wait in line, and the food was out to us in about 7 minutes. My only price complaint is for the fries. I understand its a huge upsell, and the appetizer platter of them is HUGE, but $10 for plain fries is a bit much. Mostly, because I couldn't see another way to order them. But they were scrumptious. They could easily feed 4 people who ordered fish sandwiches, etc. as well. Wonderful experience.

Yelp
For me Sea Salt is all about the location and convenience. It's nestled right next to Minnehaha Falls so if you're going to come see the falls and go for a hike or biking past it's worth a stop by! The seating is outdoor and there's lots of hustle and bustle from the park. But the views are pretty and it's always nice to grab a meal and a drink outside when the weather is nice! One thing is be prepared to wait, wait, and wait some more. There is typically a line wrapping around and stretching down the back of the building, especially during peak times in the summer when this place is most popular. That being said the food is pretty good. I wouldn't call it out of this world or amazing, but if you're a fan of seafood you won't be disappointed. Prices are fairly reasonable for the area, but could be a little bit better. If you're not up for the wait or not craving seafood you can grab a sandwich and a beer at the shop inside the main building.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat every summer for seafood. I almost missed it this year but got in on the last day. This place is at Minnehaha Falls so the area can get busy. Since this was the last day open this summer, it was extremely busy! Got there a couple hours before close and they ran out of some stuff i really wanted. Still lots of good items to eat though. They have one of my favorite catfish sandwiches and thats the mean reason I go. I usually mix it up by grabbing a few other things that I may not have had before. I've never had anything I dont like. Will say it can get spendy, but for a fun summer day, eating seafood on a patio and a waterfall right there, cant do any better.

Yelp
Obsessed with the fried fish here! The batter was perfectly crispy, golden, and light with no heavy oiliness. Probably the best fried fish I've had to date! We also tried the walnut burger and Cajun ahi po'boy. Both were tasty and the ahi wasn't fishy at all but I don't think I'll order them next time. The standout was definitely the fried fish and I'd definitely come back to order this again! The line got pretty long during Friday lunch and moved slowly so there was a bit of a wait. But, we received our food pretty fast! There was also an impressive variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages too. Plenty of indoor and dog-friendly outdoor seating. Very laid-back ambiance. It was the perfect spot to recharge and relax after exploring Minnehaha Park

Yelp
On a recent visit to St. Paul, Minnesota, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Minnehaha Park and the waterfall. Right next to the falls is a cute, open-air restaurant called Se Salt (no a). The day we went the lines were short, though I heard they can get quite long. You order at the counter from an extensive list of chilled, fried, and smoked seafood. We ordered fried clam strips, calamari, fried shrimp, a soft-shell crab sandwich, fish tacos, and oysters. When the food was delivered to our table, everything was perfectly served. The hot food was hot, and the cold was chilled. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and we all sampled a bit of everything. They also have a good selection of beverages to accommodate all tastes. I wish they were closer because we would be regulars. Until then, we will look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
It's fun to have a spot like this in the middle of a beautiful park. It's made for lots of people, and it is always busy, but do plan to wait in line to order and then to receive your food. The calamari was pretty good but it's a huge portion, so keep that in mind! The po boys are also huge and filling. The tacos are good but the ones with the salsa do have a kick to them.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
Visited 7/20/25. Sea Salt consistently hits the spot. Be prepared to wait, as lines get really long in the summer, but they're a worthy summer staple. The fish tacos are phenomenal and fresh tasting, especially for us being in MN. Being next to Minnehaha falls makes the experience even more fun. Do yourself a favor and put this on your Summer 2026 bucket list.

Yelp
If you like seafood and sitting outdoors, this is the place for you! No AC, so be prepared! They have wine and beer that pairs up nicely with your food. You order at the counter and they give you a number so they can deliver your food table-side! There's an ice cream shop outside. Overall a good place to eat with friends and family especially if you're going to see the Minehaha Falls.

Yelp
Stopped in at the beginning of the season on a weekday afternoon. I love softshell crab poboys but they need improvement here. The round bun falls apart and you really need traditional poboy bread. Add another crab too as they are small. Missed the gazpacho but too early in the season. The carrots were lovely. Always have the ice cream for dessert.

Yelp
Good value, well-seasoned, and well-prepared seafood options. And Sea Salt Eatery is right at the corner of the park so you can eat outside on nice days and dog watch. Service is friendly and relaxed. The food takes a little while to come out but what's the rush? When the food comes out, it is fresh and piping hot. The fish tacos were a lot bigger than I expected which was a pleasant surprise. The fish was flavorful and lightly fried so it wasn't greasy at all. I liked adding the hot sauce that Sea Salt had on standby which elevated the fish tacos. My partner also really liked the Ahi Tuna burger which was juicy and super tasty. The calamari was a nice appetizer and a great portion, pretty standard tasting. For the price, Sea Salt is worth every penny. No need to pay a fortune just for good tasting seafood. I also appreciate that Sea Salt doesn't hike their prices just because they're in a good location. If you're already in the park, Sea Salt is a great convenient option.

Yelp
Always a nice time here. Go early or a week day afternoon to avoid long lines. I love the clam strips. Fish tacos are usually my go to but last time I had them they were mid. My last visit I had a special ahi tuna po'boy. It was ok but not as flavorful as a fried goodie would have been. Every visit I say I'm going to get the fried fish as it looks amazing, but I'm always swayed by something else!

Yelp
When there's a line, that's always a good sign!! Located steps away from Minnehaha Falls. Enjoy a nice walk around this beautiful regional park before eating. Food and Drinks: Clam Fries $16 Fried Oysters $19 Bakery of Fries $10 Shrimp Po Boy $17 Wine & Beer $22 My favorite were the clam fries. Rarely on menus so whenever I see them it's an automatic order and these DO NOT disappoint!! Fried and seasoned to perfection while still tasting the clams as if they were just picked from the ocean. Oysters and the Po Boy were just as amazing. Tartar sauce was on point but the coleslaw lacked seasoning. Overall, it's a must go to restaurant during the summertime. Make it there fast before they close for the winter.

Yelp
A perfect spot to enjoy the outdoors, a beautiful day and delicious seafood. You can even bring your dog! Consistently delicious seafood served promptly and adult beverages are available too!

Yelp
Sea salt eatery is a gem tucked inside Minnehaha Falls Park. The restaurant has tons of outdoor seating, with one side facing the falls and the other opening toward the park where you'll find live performers and vendors. Ordering process is simple. Expect about a 15 minute wait to place your order, then you'll get a number tag for your table. Food came within 5 minutes. They also have a nice selection of local beers and wines, which pairs perfectly with the food. We tried the fries fish and fried calamari, both were excellent. The fish was light, fluffy and crispy, and the calamari was fresh and delicious. A couple of notes: parking is my meter. Restrooms are available onsite. After eating we took a hike through the park, gorgeous views and very clean trails. Definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Seafood with a view and your pup! Such a cool spot--right next to Minnehaha Falls, so you get to enjoy the sound of the water while you eat. The calamari was crispy and delicious, and the crab cake was solid too. Bonus points for being an amazing place to bring pets--my pup loved it! Only wish the tables were a bit cleaner, but overall the food and atmosphere made it totally worth it. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm a Longfellow resident so it's no surprise that I visited Sea Salt. It's such good food. My favorite is the fish tacos, and a side of tartar sauce. Tasty breaded fillet, cilantro, onion, and 2 corn tortillas. I have family that order catfish and shrimp and they are always tasty. But I am loyal to the fish tacos. The view/atmosphere is great. Especially in warm summer days. Kids and dogs and the falls are 50 ft away. Love the at Its local to me. But recommend anyone to check this out. They also have added more beers on tap and have speciality labels too.

Yelp
I genuinely enjoyed this little outdoor "shack" style restaurant after a hike through minnehaha park. Beware it does get busy during high time/ weekends so lines may be long. We waited in line at noon on a Saturday behind 20 people. The food you order separate than the drinks. Beers/ seltzer were available. The food was a little slow to get out to us. First come first serve for seating. However I really enjoyed my fish tacos (grilled not breaded which is hard to find) and they were really reasonable for pricing. Fun place to come when the weather is nice out!

Yelp
A family-friendly location featuring seafood, craft beer, and outdoor seating. Located at the well-known destination, Minnehaha Falls, Sea Salt Eatery ensures fresh, tasty food, plenty of seating, and the soothing background sound of the falls. Our group visited over Labor Day weekend. We inched along in line like a ride at Disney World but chatted and didn't mind the long wait. Once at the ordering counter, we could also order beverages. Craft beer, kombucha, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages were available. Water in cups was self-serve and free. A separate beer stand exists for quick service. I checked out the specials menu while waiting and ordered the "Sexy Ahi Burger", cooked medium. Reduced balsamic and the grilled onion enhanced the flavor, along with the horsey sauce on the side. The flavors filled the taste buds to the max and I'd return for this 4 star "burger." Our group ordered fries and fried clam strips that I tried. They both were 3 stars. Clam strips were accompanied by the typical cocktail sauce (ketchup with horseradish). The very nearby falls are a great before or after dinner view and walk. Another challenge on a busy day beside the long waits for ordering and receiving, is parking. Pay per spot is an available on site with additional parking in nearby neighborhoods. Always pay attention to the signs along the street to make sure you're parking in a spit designated for parking.

Yelp
Before touring the Minnehaha Falls, my family and I ate at this restaurant. We waited in line for about ten minutes, but it moved fairly quickly. Around the restaurant are long picnic tables to accommodate large parties. I had the catfish po boy, and it tasted solid. Depending on how hungry you are, it may be safe to buy an appetizer, especially if you're sharing. Their fried calamari tasted great, and I'd recommend it. The restaurant has a lot of choices, including fried and grilled baskets and sandwiches. Minnesota is known for serving fried walleye. Here, it was a little too expensive in my opinion, so I decided to order something else. If you want dessert, they also have a small window to purchase ice cream. I tried the Minneapolis vanilla flavor, and it tasted really good. You could even taste tiny bits of vanilla beans as added texture.
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
Great spot near the Minnehaha Falls. This time, I had the Walleye with corn and potato salad. Very nice. Not my favorite walleye, but very good. It's an excellent environment to sit out and look at everyone playing in the park. You place your order at the counter, sit down and wait for your food to be brought out. Very casual and relaxed.

Yelp
I've visited Minnehaha falls so many times and had never tried this restaurant before. And dang have I been missing out! Everything we tried was 10/10 and very reasonably priced for seafood. It did take us like 45 minutes to get our food but it was a beautiful day out so we didn't mind waiting. All the seating is outside so definitely dress for the weather but it feels like you're eating in a park pretty much, cuz you are!
google avatar

Yelp
Ah, Sea Salt. So consistent and filling!!! The family went there today on a Monday at 4 pm. The temp was through the roof with a heat advisory in the upper 90's. Hot for sure! The good news was there was plenty of parking, and no line. We ordered red beans and rice, calamari, and our old standby, the crawfish poboy. The wife who isn't a seafood fan went to the sandwich line. We also got a beer, water (free on the main cafe side), and a lemonade for the kiddo. As you can see from the picture, they do not skimp on portion sizes. We had plenty of left overs to take home. Yummo. Despite the heat. Great value and portion size of you are craving some quality seafood. Don't forget the hot sauce bottles and the Sebastian Joe's ice cream!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is delicious and everything they serve is yummy. The food always comes out hot and fresh and no matter what you order it's delicious. I enjoy the fish & shrimp po-boys. I also enjoy the fish basket . The line gets pretty long for lunch but we didn't have to wait too long this time and didn't mind having to wait. They have seating inside and outdoors; I love sitting outside if it's not too hot and buggy out.

Yelp
My happy place! When this place opens, it means spring has sprung. I love water, sun, outdoor eating that's away from car emissions, fresh oysters, and cold red wine. How'd they know?! It's actually my fave place to have fresh oysters. They're the best here! The calamari, crab cakes, and fish are great. They do seafood pretty well considering it's a bistro style spot. The po' boy sandwiches and other food is good too. They have great ice cream and I'm not even into ice cream like that. The tap beer is good. They usually have a beer truck set up just outside. They do have limited indoor seating and a neighboring covered dining room. This area is always busy of course. Minnehaha Falls are a major attraction. I love being able to get light exercise on the fly walking, climbing stairs, or riding surreys. Great family outing. There's a playground for the littles.

Yelp
Pros: Everything we had here was delicious! Cute casual spot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Off peak times are best! Worth the trip. Cons: We went at lunch on a Saturday and the line was insane. We waited almost 30 min outside the restaurant, just to order. There is no online ordering available. The kitchen appears to be staffed mostly with high school/college kids and they move SLOW. It took us about 30-40 minutes to get our food. As someone who has worked in several restaurants myself, there seems to be a lot of wasted time by staff having conversations.
google avatar

Yelp
A staple locals say to try, but I hate to say it this place is really just ok. You can min max here and get some excellent value out of your meals--especially the clam strips and po boys, but I think this place is one you come to experience once. It is a seasonal restaurant open during the summer, so people flock to it when it's open, and you would think by now there would be some way to better manage so there wasn't always a line circling the entire building outside. If you do come, be prepared to wait--long--to order and then wait--long--again for your food to come out. Thankfully you can skip the main line when getting a drink refill. If you do come here and want to avoid long lines I recommend coming on a weekday that isn't a holiday and the park isn't hosting an event. Sad to say but I think the one time I've come here is good enough to last a life time.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
Ordering is fast food style. Clams & cheese curds were quite good. Half of our orders came long after everyone else had finished eating even though we ordered at the same time & the same items. Nice surroundings in the park
google avatar

Jami W.

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and wait time was relatively short compared to the multiple hour wait it is on weekends. We enjoyed our food and sitting outside on a sunny day. Not sure I would wait multiple hours, but definitely recommend for a mid-week lunch when it's less busy!
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
I always read the comments section in the "36 Hours" series of the New York Times because locals will usually give tips that were neglected in the articles. I am grateful to the person that commented on the recent piece about Minneapolis because this was how I found out about visiting beautiful Minnehaha Falls and having lunch at the adjacent Sea Salt Eatery! Easily accessible via light rail from downtown, we walked the nearby Minnehaha Creek Trail and were ready for a nice seafood lunch! It was a beautiful day so that meant many other people had the same idea. There was a fairly long line but it only took around 20 minutes before we reached the front. That gave us plenty of time to look over the regular and daily menus - and to share a pint of their delicious cider while we waited. We didn't feel like having anything fried so we opted for one of their daily specials- a Cajun Ahi Po'Boy. We also ordered a Pickled Herring appetizer. We took our number and found a table outside on the patio. After around 10 minutes, a server came out with our order. We both agreed that the Po-Boy was absolutely delicious! Plenty for us to share! And the portion size of the pickled herring was also very generous! Thank you to the person that recommended this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Sea Salt is one of my favorite summer spots! Not only is the fresh seafood delicious, but its views of Minnehaha Falls make it the perfect place to unwind. My go to items are the fried calamari & fish tacos. They have a wide variety of local beer, wine & NA beverages. The service is always friendly and quick as it can be a busy spot in the summer. Before you go don't forget to stop by their ice cream window and taste the delicious local fav Sebastian Joes ice cream! Parking is mostly street parking or there is also a pay lot nearby. They are only open seasonally from 11-9pm April-October!

Yelp
I have heard about this place for a long time and was really pushed to go by the reaction everyone had when they reopened. We went on a Monday around 6 pm. It was still VERY busy, even for it being a weekday. I did not expect the super long line but it honestly went by super fast. I think the wait in line was worth it. One thing I really appreciated was that the drink/alcohol was separate from where you order food. That way, you don't have to wait in a crazy line if you just want a beer. I thought they had a good selection of alcoholic and NA beverages. When we finally got to order (have your order ready btw), the person who took our orders was very nice despite how busy and hectic it was. We were given a table number and told to sit wherever we wanted. There is an ample amount of seating which is great. It took quite awhile for our food to come out but once again, it is extremely busy. We got the oysters first and they were super delicious, fresh and sweet. Some of the best I've had in MN. When we got the rest of our food, it was amazing. The clam fries were straight up addictive. We couldn't stop eating them and actually focus on our meals. Nice chewy texture, good amount of breading, no fishy taste! The soft-shell crab sandwich was the first one I've ever had so, I can't say I'm an expert but I really enjoyed it. You get two whole crabs! It was crispy, well seasoned but still let the natural flavors shine. Definitely filling! The pickles that come on the side were really yummy and I believe homemade. My boyfriend LOVED his bay scallop tacos. They were absolutely loaded with scallops. They definitely didn't skimp. The number ( I think 3 if I'm remembering correctly) was more than enough. We left very happy and full. Would love to come here after a day at the beach.

Yelp
It shows up on the foodie lists. Can't really say why. The food is pedestrian. Lots of fried components, all designed to churn out large quantities quickly. It's competent - it's not bad - but the best thing going for it is speed and location. It's not fine dining, nor innovative, it is just good enough that if you happen to be spending part of your day at the park, it saves you a drive to go eat elsewhere. And when the weather id lively, the patio is pleasant enough.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
I ordered a fried fish po boy sandwich and it was delicious! The fish was haddock, which is probably one of my favorites to deep fry - it was moist and tender on the inside, but not so much where it fell apart too easily. The amount of fish in the sandwich was incredibly generous. Honestly, it's probably easier to eat deconstructed with a fork versus trying to eat it as a proper sandwich. I also tried the deep fried clams as an appetizer and those were also tasty - it came with some cocktail sauce, which complemented the clams well. It's a fast casual restaurant, where you order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. There is plenty of outdoor seating as well as a good amount of indoor seating in the back. The service was prompt. Parking is available in the same parking lot as the Minnehaha Park, but that lot is paid parking. If you park on the street across from the Dairy Queen, it should be free.
google avatar

Samantha F.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed Minnehaha falls. It is a lovely and scenic setting. I appreciated the quality of food and the reasonable prices. The calamari was phenomenal. My kids finished their fish/chips and fried shrimp which was impressive. They don't typically finish anything. We had an assortment of tacos- ahi tuna, mahi mahi, and shrimp. Would pass on the shrimp next time and go for the calamari. Despite how busy it was, the service was excellent and friendly including the patient ice cream scooper who managed the demands of the twins.
google avatar

Nalani T.

Yelp
I got the smoked trout sandwich that's on their chalkboard menu and it was super good. Smokey flavor was great and the bread was toasted. My friends got the fish basket which was also delicious. The breading was crispy and the fish wasn't dry. Super great summer meal, we waited until after lunch rush because the line was so long. Went in line at about 2:45 pm, ordered and waited for the food for about 25 minutes. They also have a great selection of local beers.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
So I know the go-tos are the fried options here, but as a Californian I came in the heat of summer and the smoked tuna lettuce wraps on special were delish and I even have room for a beer, some ice cream and a Juicy Lucy elsewhere for dinner. They also seemed to arrive faster than the fried options. If you have the time, the last time I had the crab cake po' boy and it was amazing.
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
Sea salt eatery was good - the line was insanely long, but on a nice day, you can observe the outdoor park and grab a drink indoors at a smaller bar while you wait. The crab cakes were awesome, the grilled mahi fish tacos were a bit dry. Overall, the outdoor set up is pretty awesome, especially with the Minnehaha falls being right there to explore and people watch :)
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Genuinely the worst tasting seafood I've ever had. It was soggy, everything fell apart, and super bland and flavorless. I didn't even finish what I ordered.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
What a nice little find! Great seafood options. If I had the money and time, I'd try everything on the menu. It's a counter order place and they then bring the food out to you. Primarily outdoor seating. A great setting within a beautiful park. You do have to walk a little bit to get there as the parking lot isn't right next to the building.
google avatar

Michaela S.

Yelp
Great food, great vibes, get the walleye! The walleye was the best thing we've ordered. It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing. I've only had walleye a couple times and this was by far the best. It came with wild rice and some sides which paired deliciously. I also enjoyed the crab cake a lot! It was very flavorful and super delicious. The calamari was also very yummy and came out piping hot. The fried fish was a good option, but I might skip it next time. I wished that the baskets came with a side of fries or some kind of side instead of fruit or Coslaw. I felt like the prices were a little steep with the addition of the sides, but some of the servings are huge. I wish we could have gotten more crab cake or less fried fish. I would definitely come back, and would recommend for others, but expect to spend a bit!
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
Big fan of sea salt anytime I go for a walk/hike at minneahaha! The line can get a bit long so prepare for a little bit of a wait to order, but everything tastes super fresh! I loved the crab cake basket. They also had ample outdoor seating for our group.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Great sea food option in city. The oyster basket is great. There's usually long wait but the food is great and it comes out pretty quick once you order.
google avatar

Camille C.

Yelp
Love the falls, love the tacos. Sea Salt is a fav. The line is long and parking is tough but it's worth it. Can't get enough of the tacos.
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Don't let the line scare you, you can grab a drink while you wait and it only took 14 minutes to get to the front where a smiling cashier took our order. We found a table where we could hear the crashing water and in less than 10 minutes our delicious food arrived, another smiling employee. We had the shrimp po boy that had a little zip and toasted bun. A really good crab cake that was more crab than cake. And mahi tacos that were perfectly cooked. Nice beer and wine selections as well as NA options. They also have ice cream for purchase but we were full so we'll try that next time.

Yelp
This is my all time favorite seasonal place in MSP. Love being here any time of day, walking the falls and ending with fish tacos and a shared pitcher. Quintessential MN summer experience. Simply the best. I make it a point to go when I'm in town visiting each summer

Yelp
Celebrated a family birthday here tonight and the food and ambiance was spectacular for an outdoor patio cafeteria style experience! The staff seemed to handle the long 30+ minute lines and our food was out in about 15 minutes.

Yelp
I've seen this restaurant here since 2012. It has always been a tourist attraction with its delicious seafoods. I don't see many people using Yelp in Minnesota hence the few reviews. It's definitely worth a visit if you are into casual vibes. People sit on the benches in the sun and eat. Make sure the weather is alright or else you would be frozen or sunburnt depending on the season.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. The drinks were refreshing, and the ambience was perfect! Great place to just hang out and relax taking in all the views and the lake view is spectacular.

Yelp
I only get fish tacos here, so should you. I'm told their fried fish is good, side of fries equals fish and chips. Who knew?
