"This purpose-built museum is dedicated to Korea’s most renowned 20th-century artist, Kim Whanki, whose work appears in the collections of the Pompidou in Paris and the Guggenheim in New York – two cities he called home. Heralded as an early proponent of abstract art, Kim first rose to global prominence at the São Paulo Biennale in 1963. This prompted his move to New York, where he produced the dot paintings that made him the most sought-after Korean artist at auction to this day."

Absolutely top-notch setting and curation for a private museum dedicated to a single artist. The spatial design of the galleries delightfully evoke the aesthetic essence of the artists’ major works. The only quibble to the place would be about its inordinately high entrance fees. Hope it could be 20-30% lower than how it currently is.

A small museum dedicated to the Korean artist who spent most of his working career in Paris during the 50s, 60s and 70s. Easy to access by bus; however, for those with mobility issues (the museum is inaccessible with no lifts and steep hills to climb).

Visited because of a recommendation in a NYT article about things to do in Seoul, and I'm really glad I did! The museum is in a really cute area. The work is spread over three buildings and gives you a good history of Kim Whanki's work-- really loved learning about him and seeing his beautiful pieces. Highly recommend!

A beautiful, charming museum dedicated to korean abstract artist Kim Whanki. You may need to take a taxi there as it s located on a quiet hill, past the Blue House. But the journey is worth it, as the exhibitions are of top quality. I learnt so much about the artist s life and creative process. For international visitors, qr codes are available with caption info in english. Do note that photography of the exhibitions are not allowed, except for designated zones.

One of my favourite museums in Seoul. Unfortunately it's closed for a while due to renovations.

Abstract art, for me a bit hard to understand but other people might enjoy it.
