"Multi-tiered Roofs of Bali The temples in Bali , Indonesia are famous for their multi-tiered thatch roofs. This was taken at Pura Taman Ayun in the village of Mengwi. Visitors are not allowed to enter the temples - we could only view from outside the walls. Thankfully the walls aren't very tall :)"
Beautiful temples, mosques and churches in Southeast Asia - SilverKris
"An ancient royal water temple built in 1634 by the Mengwi kingdom, the grounds combine Balinese and Chinese architectural influences and include multiple multi-tiered shrines with intricately carved walls. The complex is set within a courtyard surrounded by a moat, and a central fountain with nine water jets symbolizes the nine principal gods of Balinese Hinduism. It is commonly visited as part of full-day water-temple tours that include guided commentary on the temples’ history." - SilverKris
7 temples to visit for a different side of Bali - SilverKris
"Set within a broad, elegant moat, this expansive temple complex—whose name means “beautiful garden”—evokes the mythological image of the gods' home floating on a cosmic ocean. Historically the state temple of the Mengwi kingdom, it contains many ceremonial towers that pay homage to Bali’s holiest mountains and symbolises the harmonious circulation of water from the highlands to rice fields and the sea." - SilverKris
Wow! Such a beautiful temple area.
Entrance fee for foreigners is totally fine and definitely worth it. They also provide a Sarong for free.
I took probably too many pictures but it’s a real gem.
We came here shortly before closing time and hat the area almost for ourselves.
If you want to see a beautiful Pura without driving to far out, this is it.
Thank you for inviting us to witness some of Bali’s culture. 🙏🏻 Suksma

Very beautiful and well-maintained temple which is also part of the World Heritage UNESCO sites.
The temple garden is very beautifully crafted, and entry to the main sanctum is not allowed for foreigners in every temple. You can visit the temple and witness the beautiful Balinese architecture.
The temple was quiet and less crowded than other tourist places and temples in Bali. The entry ticket to this temple is 30k IDR.

The place is really spacious and cool, with lots of tall trees. The entrance and parking are also easy. It’s not too crowded, so it’s nicer to explore, especially for those who enjoy exploring temples.

Well maintained site of historical significance. You cannot go into the temple itself but a visitor path around the perimeter gives you a good view of the site. A viewing platform half way through the path offers good photo vantage point.

The Sanctity of a sacred place can be preserved in so many ways - is what this temple showcases.
The serenity, beauty and the space it owns as a mini forest gives you enough room to walk around… sit in silence…. Hear the sounds of forest music- “Silence” with the flutes of birds singing every now and then… 😊
The raw stone temples…. Surrounded by Lotus pond and the walkjng area around it with the forest around makes one nostalgic about the era itself….
Must watch ….. and people who love taking pictures…. SHOULD’nt Miss at any cost…

Clean and well maintained temple with a huge lotus 🪷 pond.
The temple compound looks great.
The parking is nearby.
They explain the history and significance of the temple using a short movie.
I would recommend carrying an umbrella and water. The temple compound is open and it gets hot.
