My husband and I have been celebrating our anniversary at The Star and The Darling for 20 years this year. We’ve also celebrated most birthdays there, and each visit has always been made so special. Over the years, the wonderful staff have gotten to know our family and always make us feel genuinely welcome. We highly recommend both The Star for the perfect weekend getaway, family holiday, or memorable milestone celebration. A big thank you to the entire team — we’re already looking forward to returning to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Twenty years of memories at The Star and The Darling!

If I could give the service a 100/100 I would! Rachel in particular has been the most amazing, caring and helpful person I’ve met. Always going above and beyond. The rooms are also very clean and beautiful. I would recommend to anyone coming to visit Sydney or just a get away!

My partner and I been to The Star on new year eve. We played and almost lost everything around $1000 while playing. Haha. Even a Chinese lady used my partners coin to play . So a guy checked that in camera. And imp point. You guys would be asked to have their own card to play any kind of game. So get that from purple portion. Also, We ordered burger but that was burnt. And my partner ordered beer and requested to add lemon and guy added 3 lemon slices lol. We don’t regret at all cos it was fun time. Staff was good . I feel everyone was drunk on that day lol except me

Our first time here in Sydney and it was an amazing experienced to stay at the Star Grand Hotel. The place was inviting and our children love it. Reception was so nice and the Hotel Porter named Jake was nice too even before we get off our car. Jake helped us on our things and guide us to our room giving the very best convenience a guest would ever have. Thank you Jake.

Hands down one of my favourite hotels in Sydney for a luxury stay. Service is consistently professional, check-in is smooth, and the breakfast remains a standout with excellent variety and quality. One area for improvement would be relocating the Star Club desk outside the casino. While travelling with a young child, I was unable to enter the casino to resolve membership account issues and had no alternative option. On recent visits, room maintenance has been inconsistent. This last stay was particularly surprising, with a broken toilet seat and a non-functional bathtub stopper, which was disappointing and not in line with previous experiences. As a result, this stay felt closer to low rating experience. Yet, overall it remains a great property, and with better attention to room maintenance, it would easily return to five stars. I would happily return again :)

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience at the front entrance by an elderly woman with an accent. I was told I was showing “serious signs of intoxication” simply because I lifted my dress slightly to adjust it around my chest. The woman at the door then claimed there was a “serious dress code,” even though our small group was dressed in full formal attire - suits, heels, and long elegant dresses, having just come from a wedding nearby at Doltone House. I hadn’t been drinking throughout the evening, which I mentioned upon entry, yet she laughed, accused me of “reeking of alcohol,” and told me to go inside and drink water because I was “too intoxicated.” My outfit was in no way revealing - it was extremely elegant. I was merely adjusting the chest area of my dress to make sure I was properly covered, which tends to happen when you’re on the bigger side. and somehow that was interpreted as a “sign of intoxication.” Completely absurd and humiliating. As someone with a naturally larger chest, I felt unfairly singled out and judged by this woman, who made unnecessary and baseless assumptions over nothing? To top it off, I had literally just come from a wedding - of course I might smell faintly of alcohol, as anyone attending such an event might - yet that was used against me. My behavior was entirely appropriate, I’m a very quiet woman, I don’t drink or go out often. Nothing about me was called into question except for the fact I lifted my dress to adjust it. Our group was extremely polite, quiet, well dressed, and simply trying to enjoy our night, and we were treated in a condescending, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary way. It doesn’t hurt to be nice

The hotel is in a great location within great proximity to the bustling restaurants. We had an amazing room with a beautiful harbour view! Would definitely recommend this place for a stay, especially for family. At this hotel, there is honestly a facility for everyone. We met David at the concierge and he was very helpful in assisting us with navigating the area.

The rooms are beautiful, beds are so comfy. I wish the bathrooms had a brighter light to make it easier to get ready in for a female its very orange/mood lighting. Buffet is great, the star is definitely an eye opener and is a must stop for any travellers passing through. Only downside with our visit was told twice once on the phone and phone at reception on check in that parking was included with our room and will be validated in morning only to get to check out in morning to be told we owe $40 for parking.

We went here just for the buffet breakfast, but did not stay at the hotel. There were many, many options, both Western and Asian. We really enjoyed the variety. Nothing amazing, as is usual with a buffet, but just a wide variety of things to try, and both breakfast and lunch type foods. The price was a lot, but very similar to the other hotel breakfasts in the area.

Went to the casino. The casino floor is spectacular, the machines are clean and well kept. I even interacted with the staff and they were all amazing. The reason why I gave them 3 stars, is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I went there and literally urine all over the floor. And the bathroom smelled awful.

First of all. LOVE my bed in the hotel. Lol winner winner chicken dinner. The room itself I think is well appointed and beautiful. It's tapered on entry and opens up into a specious room around my king bed. The view I have is not spectacular but has potential for a nice sunset given the right evening. Check in I was welcomed by a lovely young lady who told me she was going to send up come complimentary chocolates. (I'm not keen on wine ;)) What arrived later wasn't chocolate but beautifully boxed macaroons. Lovely gift. Sadly the pool is under renovation and can't be used. (Looked stunning in the pics) I was told I could use the hotel next doors pool. I thought great... I want the spa. I went across and sadly that is closed. Not as much bang for my buck as I'd expected. Bugger. The one thing I really wanted. A hot spa on a rooftop looking at the city. If you join the star club you can get some discounts at in house restaurants and cafes and access to the casino. BUT even though they take digital license for check in they don't take it to sign up for their club membership. Yes, it does piss me off a bit. A modern hotel like this that doesn't have its act together and again I lose another benefit. My stay wasn't everything I hoped for with the exclusions that happened but otherwise it would have been awesome I'd expect. If u plan to stay call ahead to see what they will be leaving out. It may be the things u want most. It's a heritage type area with stone cottages a S things of interest. And darling harbour and the city are very close. One day I'd like to stay again...with all the bells and whistles.

I'm not an expert on casinos, but I fancied a gamble and we popped by here on a Tuesday night. The casino was predictably, not crowded. This review will be about playing machine roulette, because the minimum sum at the tables was $5, whereas machine roulette's minimum is $1. You slot your money, get seated comfortably, place your bets, and print your money slip when it's time to go. Fuss-free.

For a moment I thought I was in a higher end Las Vegas Casino; similar to the likes of the Bellagio, or Palazzo - both places I love to shop. Like many, I get excited to see Chanel; this Casino also shares space with the likes of Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Salvatore Ferragamo - a high end shoppers playground. The modern contemporary food court was equally as impressive, with many dining options to choose from such as Din Tai Fung and Flying Fish. There are plenty of tables and even a few chrome/silver plated booth hide-outs for those who prefer a bit more privacy. Just get there before 7:00 PM, this seems to be prime dining time and finding a seat is challenging. Sydney Lyric is also conveniently located here; I love that it's located Harbourside, only steps from Darling Harbour/Cockle Bay where there are a variety of restaurants and breathtaking views. The Star is centrally located to many of Sydney's attractions: Darling Harbour, Queen Victoria Building (QVB), George and Pitt St. Shopping, Westfield Mall, Hyde Park, and a short bus ride or leisurely stroll to the Rocks/Circular Quay for more spectacular views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge. I just LOVE this place!

We went on an exploration walk around Pyrmont and ended up at The Star. We were checking it out by looking inside through the big plate glass windows. The security dude comes out and says my son can't come in. Didn't want to go in. Security dude says we can't even take pictures. Well enjoy my attached pictures Mr. control freak. We didn't even plan on going inside. I don't think you can tell us what to do when we're not in the casino, but are instead in the shopping mall outside. The Aussie spirit lives on -- we would not be denied. I heard they don't give free drinks to the gamblers. What's THAT all about? Are they looking to grind every dollar they can from you? It gives that impression.

When I lived in Pyrmont, I basically would just pass through and eat at the food court. They have a Din Tai Fung and the Adrian Zumba macaroons. Went here because I wanted to watch the Lakers Playoff game and it was being displayed on the BIG screen. The bar is nice and the casino is pretty huge. Overall a good place to watch a game or grab food.

Americans: This place plays most big USA sports games!!! Watched the NFL playoffs here last year. Also love that there are shops/food such as Gelato Messina and the macaroon place that I'm blanking on the name of. Oh, and an awesome rooftop bar with games and an amazing view. Great also for a relaxing Sunday afternoon

Even if you aren't a gambler, the Star offers something for almost everyone. It has world class shops (that are also expensive, and a great way to liberate those gambling proceeds to buying some real physical items). Has world class restaurants (which are almost about the same thing to the above), however the Din Tai Fung in the food court is actually reasonably priced and a great lunchtime option for those working nearby. Also being a casino, and a tourist hub - you'll always find an ATM nearby and good transport options (light rail to central which runs 24 hours a day is one). And this place being 24 hours is also not considered part of the Sydney CBD so it's a good place to get your drink on post midnight for the night owls. Last but not least, the sports bar has lots of TV screens which becomes handy when there is a big world stopping sporting event (World Cup, Superbowl, Melbourne Cup, Olympics, etc). And there is a tab inside where you can place your bets too for those who are into sports betting.

The Star is a good place to be if you want to enjoy your day or night. Similar to when it was Star City, the main things to do here is to go to the casino, shops, restaurants, bars, lyric theatre, hotels or eat at the food court. The range of restaurants and shops here are quite good but I guess geared towards the kind of people that has money to spend or people who just won money from the casino. They do have Gelato Messina and Adriano Zumbo which makes it worth to go to The Star and they also have some hatted restaurants like the three hat 'Momofuku Seiobo', one hat 'Balla' and one hat 'Black by Ezard'. One of the best thing The Star provides is that it allows people to shop at Coles which is behind The Star and lets them walk through without going one big circle. I guess this is the best improvement it has over Star city.

Came to The Star to watch a musical at the Lyric Theatre just over a week ago now. The conversion from Star City to The Star is a good one, especially in the food court area. Gelato Messina and Adriano Zumbo's Dessert Train can be found here, nice one. Not bad coffee, although I just learn't that you cannot take any hot stuff into the theatre - never mind. I steer clear from the Casino area when I come here. Why? Not the speculative type in the gambling of money sense - only in the article writing sense as a writer. The Lyric Theatre (unlike some older theatres) in the dress circle is rather spacious and glam. The chairs are super comfortable, especially if you're sitting near the stage. Dinner at Ribs and Burgers was good. I would not come here all the time though. My friend loved her rack of ribs, and I enjoyed the steak sandwich despite pulling it apart. Dessert at Adriano Zumbo's Dessert Train was interesting. I am so used to sushi trains in Sydney, yet a dessert train? Coolness. The key is to come to the latter establishment at The Star within happy hour. Why? Cheaper macarons and selected dessert dishes. The coconut and cherry mousse was something to remember. Otherwise, I don't come to The Star very often. I would only come here to see a show at the Lyric Theatre. There is no need to come here at any other time, unless you love Casinos.

The Star is a decent casino in Sydney but it's really really dated. The casino in Melbourne is also much nicer inside and out. The Star has a good amount of games and tables inside. They had a mahjong area but I wasn't sure if it only happened on specific days. There are a handful of shops and food options here. Some of the food here is awesome and include a Momofoku restaurant, a solid gelato place and a Din Tai Fung but not limited to them! The sports bar is bananas. They play most games showed on Fox in America including the NFL and UFC. I was here for a couple of playoff football games and the Jones vs Cormier fight. The servers were really nice but check ahead to see if a game you want to watch will be shown here!

The only thing glowing about this Star is its shiny exterior. A billion dollar refurbishment turned Star City, Sydney's paramount casino, into The Star, a massive and flashy complex in Pyrmont that houses two gaming rooms, a huge hotel and theatre, and multiple restaurants and bars. As the second largest casino in the country, The Star aims to rival its counterparts in Melbourne, Macau, and even Vegas with its attempt at world class gambling and glitzy design. The first time I arrived at the casino, I was singled out from my friends and refused entry by two uncouth security members for not carrying my ID. I was shocked. Do I really look under 18? I don't even get ID'd when I go to Vegas. Who'd have thought Sydney would have been stricter than the US at these things--and ruder. I returned a couple of weeks later out of curiosity; this time, with my driver's license. The main gaming floor is large and difficult to navigate, but there's a multitude of table games, slots, and other electronic machines. The minimum bet at Blackjack is ridiculously high at $30. I found the venue unimpressive, excessive, and without character. The same can be said about the dealers and staff. I probably wouldn't return to the gambling floor, but some of the restaurants in the multiplex are appealing. Ultimately, The Star just seems out of place in Sydney, a city admired most for its natural beauty.

My experience in Sydney's Star casino was mixed. First of all I really liked the atmosphere in and around the casino. The view of darling harbour is quite nice, especially at night. When it comes to the gambling itself I personally think that there are better places to do so. I remember Blackjacktables with 20AUD Minimum bets and Roulette with 5AUD Minimum bets. What I personally disliked was the fact that they charge you 5AUD per hour when playing cashgame. Rake not included! So far I haven't seen that anywhere else in the world.

The star city has recently been renovated and it is now a glamorous place to visit. it is just called the Star now. Besides being a casino, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes, concerts and shows and a shopping arcade. The spa looks inviting. Definitely have to check it out next time I am in the city. It is located on Darling harbour and a short stroll from the CBD. They offer a Star Express Shuttle for $10 return from most suburbs in Sydney. If you are a Silver member you can have the ten bucks reimbursed. The ambience is not as great as the Crown in Melbourne but its definitely improved and quite remarkable now.

Like the shiny new Star? You'd better! They've poured enough money into the revamp. Banished is the unsightly 'City,' with signs all over Sydney now reading simply The Star. Sounds...grand. And grand it most certainly is, if casinos are your thing. Personally the dark, cavernous spaces punctuated by mirrored surfaces and lashings of red curtain don't really float my architectural boat, but the designers have definitely gone for an aesthetic and (save the final tweaks that are still going on) have mostly pulled it off. I know next to nothing about gambling, so walking the floors was a bit of a blur. I remember thinking The Plantom slot machine looked garishly out of place in the high-ceilinged, rather plush main gambling floor. We then followed our nose to the poker room and I found that a little depressing - grey and brown tones and little natural light. In fact every source of natural light seems to have some sort of soft covering. Who needs vitamin D when you're (hopefully) knee deep in chips? What does excite me about this relaunched Star is the food (surprise surprise!). Black, Balla and the most magnificent Momofuku. After gorging myself on David Chang's spectacular pork buns in New York, I'm beyond thrilled that The Star was the first venue to lure him overseas. I have sky-high hopes for Momofuku Seiōbo. And gambler or foodie, isn't that how we all enter The Star?

To be honest I haven't yet been to the new The Star complex that has recently replaced the title of Star City. The rooms are now located what's being called the Astral Tower. Apart from the new name, the rooms are basically the same. Same views, same size. The rooms are decorated in earthy tones, with wood slats framing the large city-view windows and a muted chocolate colour scheme. The pool side is the best place for a little R and R. They have these gorgeous daybeds with a light canopy up top where you can doze and a large pool and separate spa that you can sink your body in. For those of you that don't know this, some lucky Star members can even get complimentary rooms. Think of it as being their loyalty program. Sign up! It's free and you get complimentary hot chocolates, coffees, soft drinks and sometimes they even offer free parking. Anything to make your experience at The Star more comfortable.

Nice place to have a drink and do some gambling if you are into that or just watch a good match on the big screen.

I always feel under-dressed coming here. Which says something about A) The Star and B) the clientele and C) my powers of underestimation. For, make no mistake, this is a genuine destination, a place to spend a day ... and possibly a night .... and possibly another day. There are a ton of eating and drinking options to keep you away from the gambling tables, and a ton of gambling options to keep you away from the eating and drinking tables. Win-win! Definitely wearing a suit next time. Possibly pointy white shoes, too.

Food, shopping, gambling. That's pretty much everything, right? The shops here are high end brands and boutiques. A nice variety of eateries, some that are very popular. The casino is a casino. Not much to add to that. A short walk from the harbour. Many hotels close by. It's a place to be, if you need to be somewhere.

Not being much of a gambler, the most use I've ever found for Sydney's casino is as a place to grab a drink with friends on Christmas night when everything else is closed (does that sound desperate or what?) For the record, I don't really recommend it, unless your idea of a good time is being surrounded by rowdy Irish tourists drunkenly slurring Christmas carols into the early hours. However, the recently (almost) completed refurb has really paid dividends to the day workers of Pyrmont in expanding our lunchtime dining options ten-fold. The so-called Café Court on the ground level offers: Flying Fish & Chips, reprising, at long last, the takeaway outlet from Peter Kuruvita's famous Flying Fish restaurant just down the road on Jones Bay Wharf. I haven't actually tried this one as their prices seem a little exorbitant for what's on offer - you can get much cheaper and fresher-looking sushi up on Harris Street, and there's just something about seafood sitting under a glass display in a glorified food court... For what it's worth, it doesn't seem as popular as the other eateries in here. Pulse Express is a quick pre-made sandwich stop from the same team at Pulse Organic on nearby Union Street. The sandwiches are fine, if sometimes a little over-refrigerated. The coffee isn't great. I prefer the made-to-order salads and wraps at their main store, just a block away. Dergah Grill's prices reflect the same 'casino premium' as every other retailer in The Star, and while I have zero problems spending up on good food, let's face it - this is a kebab shop, no matter how you dress it up. Chicken kebab with chilli sauce was tasty enough but a little too soggy by the end when the juices had soaked completely through the wrapper; the falafel roll is a decent hand-held lunch option on the run, but on the whole I've found this place a little bit too greasy and generic for the money. Din Tai Fung sports basically the same menu and quality you can expect from the chain's other Sydney locations; green beans with pork mince & the pork and prawn wontons in spicy sauce are always a winner. The black sesame and red bean sweet buns don't go astray if you're after a sugar fix. This is my favourite place in here by a long shot. The window of Adriano Zumbo Patissier is a popular spot for camera-toting tourists to congregate, and you can't blame them - the best bit is the eye candy, from the colourful window display, the dazzlingly luminous signage, and the quirky pastry train a la conveyer belt sushi restaurants. If you're into that kind of thing, Messina Gelato is another option for dessert or a cool treat on a sunny day by the water, with the same flavours made popular by its Darlinghurst store. On the gaming floor, Fat Noodle which opened to much fanfare a while back is also a decent lunch option, though as you can imagine the ambience leaves a lot to be desired. It's also ridiculously overpriced considering the location's proximity to Haymarket/Chinatown where you can get tastier, more authentic Asian fare at a fraction of the cost. Skip the pho, which is disappointingly bland (and at nearly $20 for a bowl has got to be the most expensive pho in Sydney!) and opt instead for the pork and prawn wonton soup, or the tom yum pork and prawn noodle soup if available which both pack a lot more of a punch. The chilli silken tofu isn't bad, either, but on the whole I've found most dishes here to be lacking in flavour. Of the more upmarket dining options, David Chang's Momofuku Seiōbo lived up to the hype when we visited in its second week of trade - but I'll save that review for when it gets its own page on Yelp.

I'm a US tourist, lets get that out of the way first. I've been to a few Casinos in Australia and New Zealand over the past year. Obviously there is some kind of casino monopoly going on but I was pleasantly surprised by The Star. My wife and I are poker players and were very happy to find action in Sydney. There are some strange rules that I've never seen before, (I'm used to las Vegas). It's a pity that you have to pay the table once each hour just to play. The dealers were great and plenty of money was being thrown around. I assume there's an Australian alcohol rule because there are no free drinks.......boy is the casino missing out on loosening up the players! The casino was very clean, nicely designed, and had a pleasant atmosphere. I would certainly return to get back the money that I lost! The Star Sydney and The Star Aukland are certainly the 2 best casinos I visited while in Australia and New Zealand.

During our visit to Australia my parents who had also visited Australia only several weeks before us, advised us to go to the Star Hotel and Casino since they new we were casino lovers. The Star is located in the Darling Harbour area only 15-20 minute walk from our hotel which was located in the middle of the Rocks and Darling Harbour. We opted to catch a taxi which is convenient but expensive. The taxi rides to anywhere no matter how close you are is very expensive in Australia. This hotel is like a hotel that you'd pull out of Vegas. Both the main entrances of the hotel greets you with extravagance. The casino area is guarded by security guards who checks your age (18+ limit), but once you enter the casino area you feel like you're back in Vegas. Very large gambling area with a lot of table games and slot machines. Like everything in Australia, the minimum bets for the table games are at the very least $30. My wife and I opted to play craps and donate to the casino :( Before we headed into the casino area we checked out the dining area downstairs below the casino to have dinner and they have quite a selection ranging from Chinese food, to steak and ribs, and fish and chips. Not cheap but very good food and it's very very busy during dinner time making it hard to find a table to dine in. Definitely one of the highlights to our trip...heck we came here two nights in a row :)

Yes, I do see many reviews already being made to this another FUN attraction of Sydney, BUT I can not believe nobody has mentioned of $10 LOBSTER option yet. Hello? Any budget eaters out there? Anyway, living right near by the star city (which is now called into the STAR), I had strangely little chances to visit this casino. Even after the news for new title and sweet offerings broke out. Renovation wise, I would say the whole shopping complex is indeed something charming, but I am not here to jabber about some fancy new looking interior. I am here to talk about the food court, inside the casino. With the offer ending at 22nd of Jan,2012, apparently, if you join the free membership, you get 50$ betting money (and FYI, I blew that off in just 2 seconds.) AND discounts for the food. (don't worry, offer date is only for the betting money. discount for food shall continue... I hope) If my memory goes right, for members, the steak is $7.50 and lobster is $10 (non-member price is double of that). I mean, having tried the same looking lobster across the street at fish market for a good $25, $10 sure is a sweet deal to me. It comes with salad and chips (and of course, a wedge of lemon) And it tasted good. Just how a lobster is supposed to taste like. I am not saying this place would be a substitute to a 5 stars restaurant,(because when the same dish cost 4 times as much, often enough there is a good solid reason behind it) but come on, there aren't awful lot of dishes you can get in Sydney under $10 anyway and lobster is better than an everyday dinner. Although I wasn't successful to win a penny out of the casino, thanks to cheap lobster, I think I still am a fan.

If you didn't walk outside and see the Sydney Harbour, you'd think you would be inside one of the Vegas casinos. The casino is clean, bright and big. They offer a variety of things to do for gamblers and non-gamblers alike - food, bars, slot machines, etc. It's walking distance from Darling Harbour so it's convenient if you want to explore, sight-see, shop and eat at a different area.

-Great food court (Din Tai Fung and Gelato Messina anyone?) -Great sports bar (several huge screens playing all sports and bar food anyone?) -Great restaurants (Momofuku, Zumbo, anyone?) -Great club (Marquee, anyone?) My only gripe is gambling here...in particular Blackjack. The dealer only draws one card and then deals out to everyone before drawing their 2nd card...it changes your strategy a bit. Stop taking my money...

Nice casino that would rival any one in Las Vegas. It seems that the floor had a lot more table games than slots, which was a suprise to me because in Vegas its just the opposite. Very clean and busy even on a weekday. Just walked around and watched. Didn't gamble as I had already lost money gambling from the cruise we were just on.

As Casinos go, this is no Vegas kiddos, but if you're looking for good eats, some high end shops and a go a more than just the pokies, the STAR is your spot. Parking can be expensive, about 20$ flat, so if you're staying in the Astral Towers, take the train in. Once you're there, there's no need for a car. Oh and by the way, make sure to book to Astral Towers directly, they may upgrade you...we were lucky to be upgraded to a king suite! After settling in, if you're a bit peckish, head down to the food court. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the choice and presentation, maybe not so much the value. The STAR is fancy, make no mistake, I paid 10$ for a falafal kebab but it was entirely tasty. And whats more, happily paid my 3$ a scoop for Messina which has the best flavours of icecream. We had Pistachio and Guiada, and Coconut with Mango Salsa and Roasted Figs and Masala which were creamy, full of decadence and delicious flavor. These are just a couple of the yummy eats in the food court, and amongst them are some high end rollers like Adriano Zumbo (desserts and cakes) and David Chang's Momofuku. But if you're looking for good food with out the fuss of 30 day in advance booking, check out Luke Nguyen's Fat Noodle inside the casino. You may wait 20 minutes or so, but the tables have a decent turn over and the food is tasty.

Headed over to the sports bar at the casino to watch NRL, haven't been for a few years and it has definitely changed. I felt so under dressed with people parading what was like a black tie event. Must have been a function on but then I see these people lining up to enter the night club inside I'm thinking dress code must be extremely strict nowadays. Back to the sports bar, screens everywhere showing the NRL on the main screen while smaller screens had AFL, moto GP, and boxing. I had much prefer the setup before where there was cinema seats installed facing the main screen. Drinks are on the pricier end of town but they have enough bar tenders on the ensure quick service. I also had dinner there where we shared a plate of buffalo wings and I had a Fuel burger with chips. Burger and wings were okay whilst chips were undercooked. Maybe I was just unlucky. There are heaps of other restaurants and a food court in the complex that I would probably grab a bite elsewhere before the game. Still great place to hang out with the boys and watch a game.

The jewel of Sydney's entertainment ? Theatre, restaurants, night clubs, hotel and casino under the same roof! In most aspects - the Star does okay as the 'IT" location however compared to other casino hubs across the world (Vegas / Macau / Singapore) - The Star just doesn't quite compare. For some reason, I feel that the place lacks a certain ambiance or maybe it's the people? It just feels too quiet especially around the edges which you need to walk through to get to the casino entrance. The casino floor is quite large with plenty happening and the Marquee club does attract Sydney's beautiful people. It will be interesting to see how The Star copes when the competition opens up at Barangaroo in a few years time.

A nice casino. I only got to explore some of the casino area and mainly the food court. I was impressed by the design of the casino. Everything was shiny and clean. I guess that is how they lure you in and try to keep you. No money lost from me here, except at the food court. I guess I came out still losing money.

GREAT dining to suit every taste. The Dergah Grill downstairs serves incredible kebas. The Pulse serves lovely coffees, lattes, and tasty desserts. Loved it! The Garden Buffet downstairs was a nice mix of Chinese, American (no way), and Australian dining. Not a bad place to chow down. My main gripes were the phone in our room kept resetting and 75% of the time we stayed it wasn't working. They also nickel and dime you for internet access (the Business Center charged $6 per 15 minutes) and charge you PER DAY for room WiFi when it should be given free in a high-end place such as this. The drain in our sink was very slow and the staff never resolved the issue while we were there. Vegas casinos are much better for atmosphere than this, but it was a very posh place to play and enjoy a bit of gambling. Access to the waterfront was great and the view was amazing.

Growing up in Southern California, I was only a short 3.5 hour drive to Las Vegas. I was pretty much there every weekend in my early 20's... A soulless corpse with an enlarged liver roaming from casino to casino to find the next party. The Star, in my opinion, is just an average casino. There's something missing to give it the WOW factor. Not sure if it's the patrons or perhaps the colors their staff wears... Something's missing to make it a really memorable destination. I'd also have to agree with Khoi P that the casino floor is quiet.. eerily quiet even on a busy weekend. But I must give praise to the dealers and pit bosses who do a fantastic job of explaining a game to someone who's new to gambling. I guess the best way to take someone's money is to give them some knowledge on how it's being done, haha! If gambling isn't your thang, there's plenty of other options (albeit an expensive one) to keep you entertained - restaurants, club, bars, shopping, etc..

Love the food courts. Love the convenience The only thing I dislike are the gamblers.

This is not pleasant place to visit, skip it totally. Might as well spend it many other worthwhile tourist attractions like the zoo, whale watching, Opera House, Parks... The casino is a ripped off very difficult to win, rude & dangerous security guards. They don't know how to treat their customers, you can napped off && they will kicked you out and said it is for 24 hours. I saw they kicked many people out & harass you by searching your backpack & detain people for suspect of cheating, Business is bad here anyway, with many tables empty. The food here is outrageously expensive & in poor taste, Skip this casino and you are a winner already. Maybe all casinos. They are trained to steal your money.

wayyy too expensive. Could of bought a car on gumtree rather than spending a night there. If you're on a budget or not, you're just going to waste your money there. The scenery is good and all but it doesnt match up to the price level, not to mention that the food tastes like utter sh*t.

With its nice architecture and high-end feel, The Star looks much better now compared to when it was still Star City Casino. The Star houses exciting gaming floors, hotel rooms, pampering centres, restaurants and bars. Their service staff are professional and very friendly; they can make your visit really rewarding. I heard Leonardo DiCaprio is supposedly living here while filming The Great Gatsby (maybe keep that one on the down low!). Well, I bet he's having a great time! The brand spanking new Adriano Zumbo restaurant is making me drool just thinking of it! Yum. When you visit The Star, I recommend that you check out the 24/7 Sports Bar. It's an awesome place with LCD TVs throughout the venue broadcasting your favorite sports. They've also got a full menu of pub classics. The potato wedges the serve taste great! Try it.

What can you say about Star City? It's a massive pokie and gaming den (no real surprises there I guess!) that's open 24 hours a day and no matter what time of the day you're in there, it'd feel pretty much the same and you'd have no idea of what is happening outside. Well Star City is no longer and after quite a big makeover is now called The Star and at first glance it's all for the better. There's some great new eateries that have been added to the place including restaurants from David Chang, Luke Nguyen and Adriano Zumbo and there will be more to come. There is still plenty of places to have a roll of the dice if that is what you do and even a sports area with a screen so big you pretty much need two glances to see it all. I'll admit I only had a quick visit but I will go back. Not to try my luck on the gaming tables but to try a restaurant or two. I look forward to it!

The most friendly, attentive, helpful staff; AMAZINGLY rooms - clean, modern, extremely high-end amenities.. I can't believe our room is less than $300/night. I'd expect a place like this to be so much more expensive. When we entered the room, the lights turned on, curtains opened, and tv menu came up. Fully stocked mini fridge, beautiful view of Sydney, and A PILLOW MENU. A MENU.. THAT IS SOLELY.. FOR YOUR PILLOW PREFERENCE. I will come back here anytime for the rooms, my husband will come back for the poker ;)

The Star has a wide range of food options to choose from including Gelato Messina, Momofuku and Adriano Zumbo. Not as many shops as I would have thought, but I guess they prefer you to spend your $ gambling!

it's a little less glamorous than crown in melbourne...otherwise i feel like casinos are about all the same everywhere in the world there's not much to be WOWed by if you've been to the more glamourous gambling venues like vegas and macau

My name is Marco and I was a guest at the Astral tower from 13 NOV 2013 to 16 NOV 2013. I must admit that the front desk is completely understaffed. No hotel rated at 4 stars and above lets their guests wait 10 minutes to check in. That was fine, I brushed it off. The staff at the pool and gym were great. Then I ran into what appeared the house keeping supervisor, all he did was stare at me as if I was in the wrong place. I say hello and he returns the salutation. Who does that in hospitality? The casino security staff was an issue from the beginning. Anytime I went to the casino to grab food, they could not acknowledge me until I first gave them a hello. On Friday the 15 of Nov 2013, I went to Marquee and upon exiting because the club was now closed, I resumed to take the Casino shortcut to get to my room, while escorting the two women I had with me. The older gentlemen did not let the women through, or myself for that matter and when I resumed to take a picture of his name tag, he grabbed my phone and threw it on the carpet. Is this who you would call a professional? Then I move to the front desk taking the long way and the front desk rep calls the security manager by the name of Dave who is more stand-offish than a listener. He immediately presumes that his employee was correct at taking my phone, because he said I was going to take a picture of his employee. I immediately counter him and his 2 employees I assume he brought for some sort of protection and they ask me what exactly I want to be the outcome of this. I tell them, that number one, I was not taking a picture of his employee, but of his employees name-tag for reporting purposes. At this point the conversation seems to be getting heated, mind u this is in the lobby of the hotel. I ask Dave to call the police and him and his employees walk towards me and say, call them. Nothing happened to your phone, what is the difference? Australian police won't do a thing. I was extremely aggravated, but I kept my cool and said, ok, don't worry about it. If my best defense is to write reviews on all the websites, that is exactly what I will do. And here we are. Do not stay at the Astral tower, they do not respect your time, money, or feelings. They come to work with a chip on their shoulder and do not respect a paying customer. Spend a little more for a hotel that offers the full customer experience. Let me add and say the the women who were at the front desk were very nice and helpful. They said they would conduct some sort of review over the incident. Good luck if you stay or come to the star. Someone needs to get the security off of the roids so they can chill out.

Came solely for the Adriano Zumbo macarons. My friend and I got 5 different flavors and shared them. The flavors are spot on and taste exactly like you would imagine they would based on the flavor names. My favorite was the mandarin yogurt flavor because it was citrusy and seriously tasted like mandarin oranges. My friend really liked the buttered popcorn flavor. It's hard to pick a winning flavor though because all of them were so good. They are pretty expensive though.

The Star is tourist hot spot, but it has its good side. Forget the casino, the food court is excellent with both full restaurants and small kiosks. The sports bar 24/7 is located within the casino, but I enjoyed watching Aussie Football and UFC there several times. It's big, but it gets packed.

I sometimes eat at the Food Quarter and they have great deals with fish and meat.It is good value for money and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.Have a drink at the Sports Bar.

The event centre upstairs has some of the most amazing catering event food in Sydney :) gorgeous mouth watering flavour, attractively presented, you always want more.. The deserts are delightful too .

Sports bar is where it's at beer and snacks ,that's if you can filter past the gambling without losing your money

Food is good, bathrooms are amazing, but the decor - in the food court at least - is dark, plastic, oppressive and cold. So don't eat in. Take your food outside to the waterfront.

Having stayed at the star, dined in one of the function rooms for a charity event and had a few flutes of champagne in the bar and gambling rooms, I was quite impressed. While The Star is not for everyone, it is still an experience to be had. It has a somewhat Las Vegas feel (mostly due to the thousands of pokies) and the Hollywood-esque events which are hosted there. The staff there are very attentive and overall I had a very good night. Parking was aplenty and was easy to organise. The premises are expansive and it wouldn't be hard to get lost. The Star has attracted many celebrities and with its media attention and grandeur it's no doubt as to why.
