Let me start with the worst thing about trying to get a cup of coffee here ... the parking. UGH. We almost didn't get a chance to try Blue Sky because we almost gave up on finding a spot, after looping and looping and looping and looping. Parking is on-street only, most spots are marked "Permit Only", and this is a crowded area near the university and Little Italy. So be prepared to circle a long time, potentially walk a great distance, or not find a spot at all. :-(
But luckily FINALLY the parking gods obliged! We were coming from the Cleveland Art Museum, looking to kill some time before the Cavs game at a cute Cleveland coffee shop. And Blue Sky Brews does live up to that expectation. It was a cold Cleveland night, but it was warm and cozy inside. There are about a half-dozen tables in the front of the shop, with bar seating all around the coffee bar too. It has a hip, bright, and comfortable vibe. And it was great that they were open until 8pm on a Saturday, as many coffee shops close early these days.
I ordered a pour-over, and asked the barista to give me the most blonde-like blend they had. He was very knowledgeable about all of the options. My husband had a Red Eye, our vegan daughter had a Matcha Latte with oat milk and lavender (both oat milk and almond milk are available). And the kind baristas also prepared an off-menu hot chocolate for our tween son. All of our drinks were hot and delightful.
We also each ordered a sweet from their bakery case. It is a small case on the counter, not a lot of options. But they did carry a tray's worth of vegan sweets, which was great for our vegan teen. We had a brownie, a pastry heart, an apricot danish, and a vegan chocolate cookie. All YUM.
After we survived our parking woes and found a spot, Blue Sky Brews ended up being a nice place to warm up and pass some time for our fam'. Prices were reasonable for their barista-crafted beverages, definitely worth a try if you can get a spot. Fare thee well, fellow parking warriors, fare thee well! :-D
