I was at this Place about a week or a week & ahalf ago and had a good time at the righ time of my life. Great vibe great people who show up. Had a good burger, Hot latina bartender alejandra made me laugh alot, took great care of me made me feel like i was an old client very welcomed. Def will be visiting this weekend again. 10/10

We’ve been wanting to try Corkscrew Bar for months and I’m so glad we finally went. The food was amazing and our servers quite lovely. I got the Jersey burger and it was phenomenal! Perfectly cooked and one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten (I should mention that I am not generally a burger person and I will go back for this burger!) my husband got the double burger and it was huge! And delicious! Definitely best burger in the heights. We also got Cajun waffle fries which were delicious but very salty from the Seasoning. Still worth it! We also got onion rings and wings. Again, really good. The portions were much larger than anticipated so quite worth the price. We also loved the cider selection! Can’t wait to go back since we’re now local.

Really enjoyed this spot! Took my girlfriend here to watch some of the games that were on and I was amazed by how great the food was. When we first walked in I was a little skeptical at first, it’s a small place and took awhile for someone to acknowledge that we were there. However once we were served the bar tenderers couldn’t have been any nicer. The food was amazing we got wings to share which were super crispy just how we like them. The burger and chicken sandwich were also cooked perfectly and the drinks weren’t to strong or too sweet. Really enjoyed my experience here and I’ll definitely be returning sooner rather than later.

I’ve been coming to Corkscrew Bar and Grill for years, and Nadine really stood out to me. The first time she served me it was busy, but she still greeted me with a big smile and made sure I was taken care of right away. What impressed me most was that the next time I came in, she already remembered my name and my drink — that kind of attention makes a big difference. She also made me the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had, perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Even when the bar is packed, she’s quick, efficient, and still makes everyone feel welcome. I also guess they have a new burger or something because she even pulled out a light from her purse and took pictures of it and you can tell when a bartender CARES. Love this place and the food is always AMAZING. Chef that’s there on Sundays is awesome.

Nice pub located in Jersey City. We've been there in a Sunday evening and there were some tables available. Atmosphere is simple, but welcoming. We've ordered a few beers, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers - all of them were good enough. We be need to get back to try the hamburgers - the place is famous for them!

I thought about this for a while - and then saw some of the recent comments from other people that had issues at this place for almost 2 years now. I posted a review on here a couple months ago, basically saying how this place has gone downhill since the owner's wife started running/ruining it. I decided to delete it because that owner's wife kept responding with incoherent messages (saying nothing is ever her fault and blaming the bartenders, compares their burgers to McDonald's for some reason) - to the point that I had to keep updating my review so I could correct her and put her in check. I got tired of going back and forth with her and I deleted everything. All you gotta do is look at the critical reviews and see how she (or the actual owner) respond to the customers. That should tell you everything you need to know. Losing at least 6, 7 bartenders in under 2 years, you're the problem. Trashing your own bartenders online, accusing them of stealing with no proof to back up your claim, or sending your employees threatening text messages constantly, you're the problem. Refusing to provide security for the female bartenders after they keep asking you for it (and the regulars have to police the place instead), or you try to make a bartender pay out of pocket for damages caused by the weather (which then makes that bartender turn around and quit) - you're the problem. Telling customers they can stop coming to the bar, instead of finding out what's wrong and working to fix the problems in the first place means YOU are the problem. Period. A regular at this spot for damn near a decade - I will not set foot in this place again until either its sold to someone else, or it just goes out of business...which might be happening sooner rather than later. On a side note - it's interesting that when someone posts a critical review of this place, a bunch of random 4 and 5-star reviews start to pop up. Do y'all see that?

I usually go there to have a good time, but lately it’s always the same bartender Carlos, with his bad attitude. This Friday he even argued with a customer, which I found very disrespectful to the rest of us. On top of that, it often seems like he’s working under the influence of … substances We can go anywherer? Yes but if we choose to go to Corkscrew, it’s because we used to love that place, sadly the vibe has changed a lot.

First time at this awesome little quaint bar! Love it! Clean and super cozy. Walked in for one drink. Alexandra was my bar tender. She was super friendly, knew her beers, and made me feel at home, all while providing her service with professionalism and a smile!! I will come back!

Aalejandra is such an attentive bartender. She was quick, wonderful, and accommodative by all means. I will continually come back.

Fantastic burgers!!! I've never been to the actual location but when a burger is delicious, even after delivery, it gets 5 stars from me. If you're local to Jersey City, add this spot to your list!

This is a great neighborhood spot. Whether you dine in or take out. In this instance we ordered out and got a caesar salad, sweet potato fries, and a bacon chicken ranch wrap. The caesar salad was just okay. It needed more dressing so that can be fixed next time ordering. The fries were very good. It was to go so they were a little soggy but not the bars fault. The wrap was very good. The chicken was good and the wrap was filling. For all the gluten feee people they do have gluten free wraps which is a plus. It's amazing the food they turn out in the kitchen they have. It is laughably small in the corner but the food is very good. The burgers are a must get and I highly recommend checking those out.

Really fun experience! Allison was an awesome bartender. I had the siracha burger with a veggie patty. It was cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and veggie on the inside. Fiancé had the grilled chicken wrap. Everything was super fresh. Vibes are like a dive bar.

Good local bar, has BEST WINGS, you need to try it to believe it. Service is always good, friendly staff. Bar is a decent size, and they do have outdoor seating. Menu has variety of selections from burgers,fries, pizza, etc. Go try them out!

This is a quintessential neighborhood bar. The bartender knows your name, the menu is no frills and you can laugh as loud as you want. The menu notes food, beer and wine. For cocktails, you just tell the bartender what you want. I didn't eat in this visit. Instead I had done wine with a friend, hefty pour. And I ended the night with a tequila bomb which is like a Jager bomb, sans the Jager. So a tequila shot with a lil bitta Red Bull. The drinks were inexpensive and they offer indoor and outdoor seating.

Awesome staff!!! Got here 3 minutes prior to opening and Mel seated me and just asked me to be patient for my ice cold beer because they weren't open until 12... no worries... cold beer at 12 on the dot! Love me some Mel then Alison came in with a huge smile! Love the food and ambience here! And the burgers are to die for!!!

The good: The burger. I had it in a wrap with lettuce, onion and tomato. All very fresh. 4 stars for this. The bad: The nachos. The first order came out with Luke warm beef. They took it back to warm it up. Somehow it came back with toasted chips but the beef was colder. Having worked in restaurants I have my theory on how this is possible. Gives me food safely concerns The service. Our main waitress was fine. Her partner was not. The partner was offended about our cold nachos. We know because she cheked in on another order of nachos at another table. Very normal. What was odd was when she told the table that she would explain later. How much of a story could there be. Unless she thought we were just trying not to pay for food we didn't eat?. We were hungry and hopping for great nachos. No luck. This same waitress yanked my credit card out of my hand and walked away without showing me my bill first. I asked for the bill but she just yelled that I would get an itemized list. I know I'll get the list but Its traditional to provide the list before taking the card. Minus 2 stars for this. Very poor form.

Saw this burger spot named one of the best and knew I had to give it a try. This burger was one of the best I've had and truly one of the best in the area. It was a pat lafrieda blend of burger which you already know takes it to the next level. Definitely a must try if you're in the area. Get the burger sauce added for some extra flavor. Great vibe to the place overall for your perfect neighborhood spot.

HEALTH HAZARD!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight, 9/18/2024 myself and my dad ate here for the first time. We sat at the bar which is right new to their open kitchen so we had a direct view of the single cook preparing all the food. We were here for maybe an hour and were absolutely stunned, horrified and disgusted with what we seen. The only cook (I believe his name was Javi), dropped a cooked burger patty ON THE FLOOR and proceeded to pick it up and put it in a burger he was preparing to serve to a customer. He wrapped it up and sent it off with a delivery driver that came to pick up a takeout order. A few minutes later, he dropped ANOTHER PATTY ON THE FLOOR and then tried to put it in a burger he was preparing, but the bar tender noticed that myself and my dad had seen this all happen and she yelled at him "thats disgusting throw that away!!" to which he looked annoyed by and restarted the burger. We watched as the cook use the same cutting board to put raw chicken on as well as to cut vegetables without cleaning the board or even changing his gloves to avoid spreading salmonella. The cook also DROPPED THE SPATULA ON THE FLOOR and picked it up and immediately flipped some burger patties. Not once did we see the cook wash his hands or switch any of his cooking utensils. The final straw was that the cook was wearing a glove on one hand (the same glove he had on the entire time we were there) while he was bear handed on his other hand. The cook coughed up phlegm into his hand (the one without the glove) which you could see oozing out of his mouth, proceeds to throw his mucus in the trash with his bare hand, then take that same hand and place it on burger buns he was prepping for a burger!! We were horrified and jumped up to tell the bar tender everything we were seeing, she deeply apologized and said that she would make a call to have someone else come in to work on the food. They should have shut down the kitchen and immediately stopped sending any food out the moment she noticed the cook was being so careless!!! I have never in my life seen something so disgusting and hazardous in the food industry. Before seeing all this, myself and my dad had eaten our food and only noticed everything the cook was doing after the fact. I am really hoping that we do not get sick... This cook needs to be fired and reported for endangering the health of every customer that ate food here tonight. Please take note if you ate here on 9/18/2024 and get sick, now you'll know why. Please closely monitor the cook (Javi) if he is still employed here after this. We were extremely stunned by this as this establishment had high ratings. We will never be returning and I suggest you don't either if you value your health.

Corkscrew Bar sure had a good number of variously sized televisions all showcasing some sort of sports content, but it was far from a sports bar. The atmosphere really gave the impression of being a neighborhood watering hole; the patrons seemed to know each other and the staff, and the beer taps served only the closest/most local of New Jersey beers. The bartenders were friendly and relaxed, not frantic and short like they often are at some other bars. I did not try any of their food, but all of the burgers and wraps that I saw being prepared looked amazing. Plus, they had waffle fries, which already made it a winner in my eyes. I did, however, order a can of Blackberry Lime Hard Seltzer from Bolero Snort, a brewery only about 10-15 minutes away. The crisp and refreshing sparkler tasted more natural and less artificial than many of its competitors. All in all, Corkscrew was a spacious, casual "dive bar" that I enjoyed and would go back to if in the area, but it definitely seemed to cater more to those living in the neighborhood.

I'm a little late on this review, as I went in here on April 19th but im just making a review now because I've decided to use Yelp more but anyway, the bartender was rude. As soon as my friend and I walk in, the bartender yells across the room from behind the bar "I NEED TO SEE YOUR ID" with some attitude. Geez, have a security guard at the entrance if you're going to bark at us like that, or at least let us sit down first. I understand my friend and I look young but regardless. I don't remember her name but it was a white woman that was about 40+. Came here for food and a beer and the food was great. There was nothing wrong with the beer. The vibe wasn't too much of a homely one but not a loud one either, kind of in the middle.

I have no idea how they did it but the Jalapeno Cheddar Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Incredible flavor, perfectly cooked, everything was delightfully balanced, the bun was substantial and tasty, the jalapeños were fresh and added the perfect kick. Got a side of waffle fries which was excellent, and came with a great sauce. I ordered to go, but had a chance to enjoy the atmosphere while waiting. Such a fun little place! HIGHLY recommended.

Excellent local bar with an always friendly staff. They have a selection of great local NJ breweries like Ghost Hawk, Brix City, etc. On the food side they make killer chicken wings: we've tried the buffalo and dry rub and both are really flavorful. We haven't tried their hamburgers although they look fantastic (we don't eat red meat). The only thing I would complain about is that the lighting is a bit weird here. It's almost too bright and needs to be a bit more subdued or warmer. But that's no biggie to get in the way of the great eats and service you get here.

Corkscrew Bar is a typical local bar. It's pretty hidden and off the beaten path, so if I didn't see it on Yelp, I probably would have never stumbled upon it. It's a tiny little place with 1 bar that runs the length of the establishment, in the photos I saw a pool table, however in real life they haven't had one in ages. I came to Corkscrew with a group of friends - on a Friday night it was mildly busy so you could actually get the attention of the bartender which I liked. We ordered a some drinks like the Manmosa & some food like Threesome (Cajun waffle fries, Mozzarella Sticks, and Buffalo Wings)

The best burgers in the area! They have a pretty good bar food menu selection if burgers aren't your thing. Great craft beer selection and friendly bartenders as well! Clean and nice low key atmosphere and a great local feel.

Unpretentious, solid burgers and bar food. Cocktails a bit on the pricy side, great collection of beers.

what has happened to this local bar i stopped off tonight for a drink after work i have not been in for a few weeks it was cooler outside that inside - i was told they had no a//c , even my draft beer was as warm staff apologized ( not there fault ) the bar smells like stale grease from the fryers no surprise the bar was empty not sure if it's under new management but if it is ..... good luck :(

I needed a spot for delivery and found this on a delivery app. Before I ordered I also checked the Yelp reviews and they passed the test. The burgers seemed to be the go to here so I went with it. I went with a simple burger with american cheese and tomato. I ordered it medium and they did a good job cooking it. The burgers don't come with fries but you can order them a la carte. They have shoestring fries here so they are a little thinner but I like it that way. Here is what tripped me up about the experience... it was $12 for buffalo fries and $5.50 for fries without toppings. That was bizarre. The portion wasn't bigger and the toppings didn't warrant doubling the price. Not sure if it was a typo or a mistake on the app but I wouldn't reorder the fries with toppings because of that. In the end, it was a serviceable meal and my craving for a burger was satisfied. It wasn't a burger I would rave about but it did the job.

I'm giving this a lower than expected rating for a couple reasons. The employee cooking our food was visually working without a hair net, and seemed to not have the highest standards of health and food safety. Other than that the bartender that served us did a great job, she was friendly and pleasant with everyone in the bar. Overall I appreciate businesses that go above and beyond for food safety.

This is my second visit to Corkscrew Bar. My first experience was great so when the hubby, son and his friends wanted a sports bar that was casual, quick and close to the school (Saint Peters U), I thought of this place. It was a Sunday and the Eagles were playing. E A G L E S...Eagles! The son had a b-ball game prior so we rushed over to Corkscrew in hopes that it wasn't too crowded for the five us to squat a spot. Corkscrew is a local bar on a corner in a residential area. You would easily miss it if you weren't familiar with the area. Thanks to Yelp in finding this hidden gem. It's very casual with just a bar and a few tables near windows. When we arrived we were lucky to find a booth for all of us. We immediate sat down to watch the Eagles game. Our waitress Rachel came over, we shared words and she immediately remember us. We ordered a couple beers and a Moscow mule. Our apps were wings (bbq and honey mustard) which were good. Entrees were Quesadillas, Burgers w/the egg (Jersey Burger?) and Grilled Chicken sandwich. All of the sandwiches came with fries, sweet potatoe, waffle or regular. We had all three. This place is great for watching a game. Not big but comfy enough to enjoy the food and conversation. The service is always good and their hamburgers are the best.

This place is the perfect hidden gem with amazing bar food. It's a few blocks off the light rail, which is nice. If you like burgers this is definitely the place to get one. I am obsessed with their sweet potato fries and get them every time. Beer/drink selection is good. The staff is great. This place is small, so on busy days you may have to wait a bit for a table or opt for takeout. We have been here twice and both times were amazing. We will be back again for sure.

Delicious burgers here!!! the bartender was very attentive and recommended the cheddar jalapeño I decided to add another burger to make it a double.

We ordered delivery from here tonight for the first time. We ordered the chicken Caesar wrap, shoestring fries, and jalapeño cheddar burger with bacon added. I'll start with the pros: Everything arrived early thanks to Postmates delivery. Everything was packed neatly, no spills. Everything in order was correct. I like their logo stickers! The chicken Caesar wrap was full of chicken and a little lettuce. Flavor of Caesar dressing was good. The shoestring fries was a decent portion. The jalapeño cheddar burger was a good size and tasted great! I loved that it was rare (though that's not what was ordered). Bacon was good. Now the Cons: Burger didn't arrive hot, unfortunately. The jalapeños on the burger were not spicy lol. For the up charge I would have appreciated more bacon. The special instructions for the fries were not followed. We asked for them to be burnt and extra crispy. They were not. The chicken Caesar wrap was small for $12 and there was a lot of wrap, so it definitely could've been filled more. If not with more chicken, add more lettuce to stuff it!

Awesome little "dive" spot that we stumbled upon. They have a small kitchen to the side of the bar which is really cool in my opinion that slings pat lafrieda burgers, which are cooked PERFECTLY. They have wings and fries on the menu as well. You'll find a great assortment of craft beers from the area as well. I love this place it's just a few blocks walk from the light rail as well, which is super convenient.

The food is 100% excellent. That's not the issue. Ordered via Grubhub last night. Someone from the restaurant packed 3 wet glass bottles in a paper bag as part of takeout - without using cardboard as a buffer. The bottles tore through the bottom of the bag and one of them struck my toe and broke it in 3 places. I had to pay for doctors out of pocket, X rays, Ubers, etc and now have a 6 week long recovery. I contacted the restaurant to inform them about this, and spoke with someone who said it isn't their fault but that if I want, I could try to contact the owner and they would take my info so that he would contact me. Apparently, I'm not very important as he still has not reached out. I don't know how they can deny responsibility and not even say sorry when one of their staff negligently packed WET BOTTLES in a PAPER BAG which led to a bone broken in 3 places! To whoever from Corkscrew is reading this: I would appreciate being contacted and would also appreciate if at least my medical bills can be paid for, because this is ridiculous. Maybe also train your staff in something called empathy. At least say sorry instead of saying it's not your fault when Corkscrew's actions led to a serious injury.

A Constant In The Crazy : Everything about our world right now is uncertain, unnatural and unfortunate. So I'm more thankful than ever for Nichole and the team at The Corkscrew for risking themselves to provide us a bit of "constant in the crazy". Each day they are cooking for us and providing fantastic take out at a more than reasonable price with the same wonderful customer service and quality. Today was the Screw Burger and 12 BBQ wings. Hit and delicious even after the trek back to my place. PLEASE... give yourself a treat and a break from cooking and support this local gem as they try to provide the "constant in the crazy" that we all need so much right now. I had the Jersey burger and added lettuce, tomatoes & onion. Hands down the Best burger I've ever had in my life. So juicy, so good. Great service too.

I had eaten here before but it has been maybe two years? And i remember it being a cool place to grab drinks and eat with a group of people. I was craving a burger and decided to take a chance. Why i say a chance? Well when you have your food delivered, there is a chance of it being soggy, messy etc. but wow! Our food was delivered and the presentation of the food was as if i am eating at the place. I highly recommend this spot and their food! My bf had the smokehouse burger and i had the Sriracha burger! Sooo good!

Went specifically to try the burgers since people talk about them. The rumors are true, it was damn good! The only thing I found kinda ridiculous is that a side of fries is $6.50!!! Def a turn off, but i will most likely be back.

Ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, Cajun fries and a jersey burger. For delivery 3 items came out to $50 for less than a 10 min drive away. The chicken sandwich although crispy was inconsistently salted. Some bites were savory others were completely bland. My boyfriend got the jersey burger medium rare but the pink to cooked ratio was overwhelming. Nothing special about either food item and definitely not worth wasting $50.

Corkscrew is another great place up in the jersey city heights. It a pretty good sports bar (although one time they didn't play the giants game on the main bar screens because a customer had first dibs with a dolphins game? Weird, but I forgive them. The wings are great there, as well are the burgers. My favorite burger is the brunch burger, with Taylor Ham, cause we're in north jersey and not the savages of south jersey calling it p*rk r*ll. The burgers are cooked perfectly right on a grill in front of you and they use pat lafrieda meat, which is simply the best.

The burgers are amazing here you can get it anyway you want it. Had the mozzarella sticks as a side at they were so crispy on the outside but cheese goodness on the inside. Drinks are very strong and worth it.

Visited Corkscrew in the Jersey City Heights neighborhood after hearing about their "Manmosa," which friends mentioned was worth a try. I visited with a friend on a Wednesday evening, there was a decent amount of folks in the small neighborhood bar, but it soon became more packed later in the evening as the baseball playoffs were starting. There was also plenty of parking around the neighborhood, so that was very convenient as well. As friends recommended, I tried the Manmosa (Blue Moon, Vodka, Splash of Orange Juice, Topped with a Float of Champagne) ($10). It took a bit of getting used to and it did taste a bit unique at first taste, but it was tasty after you do. We also ordered a side of Cajun Waffle Fries (Crispy Cajun Waffle Fries with Cajun Mayo) ($6), which was very tasty as well. Generally, it was a fun time. Very much a neighborhood bar with good food and reasonably priced drinks. I would certainly come back in the future for a laid-back time catching up with friends.

Nice little local restaurant in the Jersey City heights. Came by for brunch, was seated outdoors in late October, wish they had some heating lamps. Service was decent for football Sunday, our server was bouncing around and working very hard. Food was okay, portions could of used some sprucing up; particularly the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito on the menu states it comes with home fries but came to realize it was like 3 pieces of potatoes IN the burrito, meh. If you live close by definitely worth going to wet your whistle, not sure I'd cross through town to go back personally.

Weekend brunch review. Well this was a very pleasant surprise. Brunch is a favorite for me and the Mrs. The Corkscrew has a pretty nice sized menu with about nine to ten items for brunch. It was hard to choose. I finally decided on the brunch burger which had a Jersey sandwich staple, Taylor ham, egg and American cheese. It is served on toasted bun and topped with a sriracha aioli and accompanied by sweet potato fries. There is just something about a burger cooked on a grill that makes your mouth water. This burger does that and more. They are known for their burgers and I can see why, they are outstanding. The wife had the brunch Cubano, a traditional Cuban sandwich topped with a runny egg on an English muffin. It also comes with fried plantains. She really enjoyed it saying the egg with the salty pork and pickles were delicious. Believe it or not there was a three piece Jazz band that started playing shortly before we left. Which of course caused me to order a pint to prolong the stay. I had the Illusive Traveler Grapefruit Shandy. It was very refreshing with just a hint of the grapefruit. I would definitely come back. Though they probably should think about hiring a waitress during the weekends as they were packed and seemed to me that 3 people just aren't enough.

Delicious food, friendly staff, great prices. We Had quesadilla, hamburger, sweet potato fries and onion rings. Generous portions, couldnt finish! Everything very good.

I went here to celebrate my birthday with a couple of girlfriends!!! Absolutely loved the vibe here and the servers (didn't catch their name) were super friendly and it is a pretty chill atmosphere! Will definitely go there again

Best wings I have ever had! The burgers are fabulous as well. Service is always attentive, fast, and friendly. Whether you want a quick drink or to sit down and have a great meal, this is the spot.

Corkscrew is a model of consistency. I've been here several times and the service, food and drink selection are always outstanding. They've really rebranded themselves to into more then just a local watering hole and are quickly becoming a go-to spot in the JC Heights. There are three scenarios that I usually find myself in here: BRUNCH. The new spring '15 brunch food/drink menu is phenomenal. I came in last week and we all ordered the chicken and waffles **droool** - two fried chicken tenders atop a soft and pillowy belgian waffle drenched in powdered sugar and maple syrup. Need I say more? I'm not into bloodies but my friends agreed that these were some of the best. Din Din. This is a good place to come in and unwind after work, especially if you are into unwinding with a beer in one hand and a burger in the other. Depending on the night there are various drink specials and trivia. The BF and I are partial to the burger with a Three Philosophers demi glace. Not even Socrates, Plato and Aristotle could resist this. Add in some smoked Gouda and perfectly caramelized onions and we've got a real serious mouth party on our hands. Cooked to perfection, this left little to be desired except for more. The beer infused demi glace was the perfect accent. They change their dinner specials up pretty often. Late Night. My friends live up the street and we come in for a nightcap from time to time, every saturday, same difference. I never drunk eat ... but if I were going to then the classic bar menu choices like mozz sticks and chicken fingers would be my choice. If I were going to. Jeez Corkscrew, I wish that you weren't so damn good because JC has way too many other spots to try. Your worth the trek over from Grove Street any day of the week.
