Our first hotel upon arriving in Laos, in Luang Prabang. |Open since 2005, this Hotel offers a really nice set up filled with nature, serenity. |Absolutely stunning flowers and plants all over that set travelers in a good mood.|The Swimming pool is really very charming, of perfect size and situated in the middle of the peaceful garden, surrounded by all rooms with distance. Very cosy pool! ||This Hotel offers 2 categories of rooms: Heritage rooms and Tradition. Heritage rooms are big and cosy while the Tradition offers the option to take 2 connecting rooms accessible from a small balcony, very cosy and slightly apart from the rest which can be very convenient for families. |Possible to book a private villa as well including 3 rooms and private pool. |The Dining option is also available and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast on the spot. For Dinner, plan enough time, as the cooking is prepared from scratch and therefore it takes a bit of time. But this only allows you to appreciate the place a bit more and the result is worth it. |Breakfast was A la Carte as we stayed at the beginning of the season and we really appreciated the choice of seasonal fruits, eggs etc. |We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this place for any traveler looking for a place to stay in the center of the town, a walking distance away from the night market and the cruises. During our 15 day walkabout around Cambodia, Laos & Thailand, this may have been our favorite lodging. It has a 1930's, 1940's tropical-meets-Colonial look (it was built in 1936, although I believe it became a hotel long after that) with tons of beautiful wood, exposed wood beams, colorful furnishings, amazing gardens with lush foliage, plants in pots, along stone pathways, hanging and everywhere. It is quiet, refined yet rustic, very Zen, the staff is as accommodating as they can be (even at 5AM when we had to wake up the front desk guy who was asleep on the lobby floor in a mesh tent!), breakfast meals are freshly made (and beautifully presented, and very natural) including fresh-squeezed juices, home made yogurt, just-cut fruit, just-made banana muffins, chia, honey and condensed milk to add to your yogurts and cereals, bicycles are free to use (just register @ the front desk)(we biked to the night market several times for dinner), the very green-colored pool and nearby chaise lounges invite you to exercise or just laze around along with chess boards, and a small poolside bar. We loved, loved our balcony with its colorful pillows, couches, upholstered chairs & views to the pool and patio below. Oh, and the very Colonial-style narrow wooden double doors, leading to more wooden double doors & then into our room (room windows are the same). It is all very Zen, relaxing, and the sound of singing monks during their evening and morning devotions at the Wat Meuanna next door is beautiful.

Our first trip to Luang prabang and have enjoyed every second. Our trip was made very special by the staff especially one staff member that stood out for us was Mr Bounsoun. Not only was he helpful and kind, but showed us how open and friendly the Laos people are. We will definitely return based on our experience. Villa Maydou is a peaceful, beautiful, lush and secluded place. It’s ideal for relaxing and for exploring the town center on foot. The staff are helpful, attentive, and full of good advice. We spent 10 fabulous days there as a family. Thank you!

Such a lovely hidden gem of a hotel. So quiet but right in the midst of everything. The staff are awesome. Breakfast is varied, plentiful and free. |The pool is lovely to get into after being out walking on a hot day. The rooms are spacious and serviced every day with fresh towels and water. It’s nice some days to just sit on the verandah and enjoy the peace and quiet. |Villa Maydou has a lovely ambience about it and I’ll miss it as much as Luang Prabang itself.

Villa Maydou is an absolute gem in the heart of Luang Prabang. From the moment we arrived, the staff's warm hospitality made us feel right at home. The traditional Lao architecture and beautifully maintained gardens create a serene and authentic atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere. The rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, blending modern comforts with local charm. The pool area was a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring, and the on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a great selection of local dishes.

We have had a great stay at Villa Maydou. It is situated behind a small Buddhist Temple right on the Nam Khan River. Beautifully maintained a tranquil. The rooms are very spacious a beautifully furnished. The staff is friendly and takes care of every need. We are very near the night market and Tuktuks will take you anywhere. What a wonderful experience!

Just before the Old Bridge, set back from the road, next to a temple, this is the kind of accommodation I couldn't wish for better. Villa Maydou is exactly my taste!The hotel's individual buildings are loosely spread across the site, some of which have been carefully restored and are listed as historical monuments. I love the teak floors in the upper rooms.The hotel lives from its historic charm, the caring staff and Laotian vibe. The open breakfast pavilion (don't touch the Fishtail Palm!) offers a great, also regional variety of options. The pool is a nice place to relax after your excursions and the cosy bar next to it invites you to forget the time with a G&T.  Guests can use free rental bikes to reach everything in the old town.
