Cơm Quê Dượng Bầu - Vietnamese Homecooked Cuisine

This is a great place to come for a typical Vietnamese meal. We had Thịt kho trứng, canh rau cải, and rau muống. Pork, egg, greens, soup with more greens, and rice. Everything was delicious. This isn’t a fancy meal but it feels like home. The restaurant is hard to find, there is a garage off the street and you’ll need to take the elevator or climb the steps up to the 3rd floor. The staff is welcoming, but there were no tourists here when we came which I’ll take as a good sign! Their English here is limited but the menu is easy to navigate. Give this place a try if you’re looking for a traditional casual and nutritious Vietnamese meal.

Tucked away through a scooter garage, up onto level 3. Boring, paid $50 for medium food and poor service. Rice paper rolls 6/10- Peanut sauce was different and really nice! otherwise boring and not super fresh Bun Xeo 7/10 nice but not special Beef salad 8/10 really nice flavour, fresh and a personal favourite, abysmal amount of beef, like 4 small pieces. Spring rolls 3/10 pretty yummy, very small spring roll, very little quantity, was completely different from the pictures. Drinks were nice, service was aloof and nobody spoke english.

I had a terrible diarrhea after eating. The service was rude and the price is questionable. Also the utensils were chipped and the ventilation was poor, you could smell smoke from the balcony coming inside. I think it was 390,000d for one person .

This restaurant had me cursing under my breath while climbing two flights of stairs, still half-recovering from a fever. My friend swore it was worth it, so I dragged my weak body along, ready to judge. Tucked in what looked like a very questionable old shoplot, on the second floor (if my dizzy memory serves me right), we finally found it. And to be fair… it actually looked quite decent once we got in. The vibe is very Vietnamese, cozy and unpretentious, like someone’s home turned into a restaurant. We ordered a bunch of local dishes—not your usual pho or banh mi, but more unique, traditional items you don’t see everywhere. I have to say, the food surprised me. It was tasty, different, and felt pretty authentic. My sick grumpy self was slowly converted into a full-bellied happy customer. Now, I’m a total clean freak, and this place passed my test. The cutlery was clean, the table wasn’t sticky, and I didn’t feel the need to sanitize everything twice. If you’re up for a little adventure with good food and a hidden gem vibe, I’d recommend giving it a go. Just maybe go when you’re feeling healthy enough to climb.

We had dinner at com que duong bau on the 25/7/25. It was a great experience, the atmosphere was cozy with real vietnamese country style decorations and the food was amazing. We had thit kho ruốc ( braised pork with shrimp paste and lemon grass) so yummy, braised fish in clay pot and stir fried morning glory with garlic, and my daughter had banh khot( it’s one of the vietnamese round pancakes with prawns. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try real Vietnamese foods. we will definitely be back to try more yummy dishes.

Food was tasty, although it’s a little pricey. More for tourist, but you can probably get good local equivalent else where. The waiters didn’t seem to do much helping either. Their signature prawn coconut cracker was alright, won’t be the most memorable. Ginger claypot chicken and the stir fried pumpkin flower was a good standard. Sweet and sour Fish soup recommended by them was a lot of bones and little meat. Would recommend going for a meatier fish. Overall ,it’s paired well with white rice.

Great Southern local cuisine from Mekong area. Very delicious. Another good find in HCMC that is not the usual Vietnamese dish
