Boathouse On The Bay

I came in on a Thursday for to go order. Was told to sit at the bar and waited 45 minutes for my order to only see that it was sitting there by the hostess and getting cold in a bag but i did not want to assume. So i waited and after a while I had to ask the bartender who was very nice about my order and then all of a sudden my order was ready, which was the bag sitting waiting for me. For an $80 meal I’m super disappointed. By the time I got back to my hotel, the food was cold. Why not just have people place the order at the bar so that the bartender can keep tabs on it. The bartender comped my husband’s drink but there was no apologies or offer to remake the luke warm food. I am really disappointed in the service. The overall restaurant vibe was nice. But to people eat and leave before you put a sour taste in my mouth. My food wasn’t even worth eating because I’m sorry who wants microwaved fried shrimp. So my first experience was definitely not a positive.

Stopped in for lunch and ordered the whitefish chowder and half wedge salad. Both were excellent and more than enough for lunch. I noticed other tables getting the lobster mac and cheese and the lobster rolls. They looked great, but I would have needed a bigger appetite to tackle those. My server, “Curlss” with two s’s, was phenomenal. She was friendly, engaging, and quick to take care of anything I needed. The menu is on the pricey side, but that seems to be more about Sister Bay in general than this restaurant specifically. Overall, a great spot for lunch with attentive service and good food.

Came here on a Friday night for a quick dinner and enjoyed it! We got calamari to share, watermelon mojitos, and I got the fish fry dinner. I was certainly not expecting this fish fry to be so big, it was actually pretty disappointing that I had to waste at least half of it. I wish there was a half plate option if the regular dinner is this large, or at least have a description on the menu with how many pieces they include (I would’ve ordered something else if I knew)! The drinks and everything else were tasty as well.

our 14th year coming for Lobster rolls at Boathouse on the Bay and always the best ever !! We live in Chicago suburbs and drive here over 4 hrs for this is lobster roll! The best ever , even over the lobster roll trucks from Maine . The amount of lobster and that thick crispy bun with perfect fries ! There is no comparison !!!

Stopped for a drink at the bar on the water - opening day and already a well run operation! Owner couldn't have been nicer. Small menu of margs chips and salsa with an incredible view. Can't beat it!

Lobster roll was excellent! Get one to share and you will still be full at the end of the meal

We were looking forward to trying the Boathouse and we were not disappointed. The lobster roll is the bomb. We shared one and it was plenty of food. The fried cheese curds were very good. We sat at the bar and our server/bartender was super nice and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We swung in to the boathouse for lunch because Al Johnson’s was a 60 minute wait. So glad we walked up the street! Our server,John, was quietly highly competent and professional. I noticed he never sat still, during the one lull he was moving around filling water glasses(it was hot, appreciated). The food came out quickly and was excellent. Shrimp basket in Wisconsin is always a roll of the dice and this one is reallly good, big good shrimp. Upper story view over the bay and plenty of shade to be had. Thanks for a great lunch! Highly recommend

Wonderful place! Love the location, service and of course, the food. it's not inexpensive, but definitely worth it for a nice meal and a beautiful view.

Super friendly service from the hostess Katy and our server. We had a light lunch on the deck and we had an awesome lunch. We had Cherry Mules, the best and refreshing summer drink! Do indulge. We had bowls of the whitefish and shrimp/corn chowder, both first rate! We also had the fried cheese curds: a tad underwhelming and salty. Overall, 5 stars!

Enjoyed lunch here and had the whitefish po boy. Great fries and healthy fish portion. The shrimp basket was also very good. Had a couple of Stelllas which were reasonably priced. All in all a nice experience. Parked on the street even on a busy day.

Boathouse on the Bay is always a go-to lunch spot for our friend group when visiting Sister Bay. Not only does their menu have great food options, but the espresso martini and cucumber watermelon mojitos are amazing! I have yet to go and have someone mention not liking what they ordered. The specials when we visited was a Perch Basket which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. My friend got the Lobster Roll which was FILLED with meat. We each left full and happy!

We visited this Sister Bay eatery a few weeks back and had an enjoyable time. Normally this is a hot spot for patio and open-aired seating, but it was late in the season with chilly weather, so the restaurant was buttoned up. It imagine it's extra delightful in the summer months. Giving all of the boathouse vibes for sure. You'll find allllll the seafood options on this menu, and definitely on the pricier side. From salmon and lobster mac, to ahi tuna, whitefish and shrimp. Oh and if you're a meat eater instead, fear not because there are plenty of good options there too. I went with the blackened catfish, topped with avo lime sauce and a side of veggies. Was it tasty? Yes. Was it worthy of $27? Probably not. Everyone else was pleased with their meals, our server was so sweet, and the overall atmosphere was great. Would certainly return next time we're in town to try other menu items.

Always the best lobster boat around... but it's up to $30 (!!!). Yes, we ordered it anyway.

We spent about $150 on the patio in less than an hour. Friends tried to join at the table next to us and were planning on getting drinks and appetizers. They were kicked out by the restaurant for not getting entrees. Will not return. Bad experience slow drinks. Just a very poor buisness decision. The table has now been empty for 20 minutes.

The best Lobster Roll i have had in the Midwest- don't let MP scare you- worth the $30 with VERY generous lobster portion- splittable for sure- crispy fries & fresh coleslaw also delicious!

This restaurant is one of our favorite spots for lunch or dinner in Door County! Located in Sister Bay, it's a fantastic spot to enjoy great food after a day of shopping and relaxing in the bay. The food is delicious and comes in big portions. We typically prefer the warm Connecticut lobster roll, but the chilled Maine style lobster roll was wonderful with large chunks of lobster. The lobster mac and cheese was decadent, cheesy, and also had plenty of lobster. This restaurant is great, especially for seafood lovers. The service was fast and our server was very kind and made great recommendations. Although this is a popular restaurant, we didn't have to wait long for a table. The view of the bay is an awesome added bonus!

Delicious food and their pain killer drink was amazing! Service was great - they were very accommodating to our 1 year old.

Amazing views! Great service. Food menu was pretty simple for the pricing but execution was ok. Bisque was very heavy and thick everything else was ok. Beer selection was good.

Really beautiful spot and the food is excellent. Came in on a Sunday for lunch and seated immediately. The white fish was well cooked and service was really good. Highly recommend.

Yum!!! Tasty food, drinks, and friendly service. I had the lobster roll on a po boy bun instead of brioche because of dairy sensitivity but it was honestly top 2 lobster roll I've had in my life. SO fresh with minimal ingredients so the lobster shines. Everyone else at my table loved their food as well. Burger was amazing and wedge salad with sesame crusted tuna. Not to mention a beautiful view of the lake, especially at sunset.

Everything from the hostess when we walked in to the food, service and ambiance of this place was exceptional! We got a table on the top deck shaded by umbrella looking out at the bay, awesome!! Make sure to make this a stop on your trip to Sister Bay!!

The folks are so nice but i had to save you $30 bucks. The lobster roll is NOT worth it. Not fresh or yummy. Edible but save it for Maine & pick a local favorite. The cute little villages on the bay got me nostalgic for back east and I made a mistake.

A great little historic restaurant right across the street from the water. The menu was decent and the drink selection was alright. With a few televisions above the bar it is a decent place to stop and catch a game if you can find a seat within view.

Hey y'all. My big ol man wanted a lobster roll when we visited door county this past weekend. So here I was lookin for places with lobster roll and we decided on this one, which was a recommendation from other folk. My chunky man put down that lobster roll in less than 5 minutes and then ate some of my lobster Mac and a whole basket of onion rings. The drinks were good too. In exchange for eating half my food I drank all the bevs. The only thing bad I have to say is that my view was obstructed by a MAGA hat and some chick that wouldn't stop yapping to old people at the bar.

This is a solid seafood spot to try in Door County right along the harbor of Sister Bay, WI. We were seated at their downstairs patio dining section that had perfect views of the water. I thought we were going to have to wait a bit since it seemed like a popular spot that day, but we were seated right away! I was on a mission to find somewhere in Wisconsin that serves quality lobster rolls (the East Coast has been rubbing their lobster rolls in our faces). I can genuinely say that Boathouse On the Bay did not disappoint! This was the highlight of our Door County trip and I'm so glad we found this hidden gem. We also ordered a basket of fried cheese curds as an appetizer because why not. Looking back, I wish we had also tried their lobster Mac n' Cheese because it looked so tasty. We will definitely be stopping by again the next time we find ourselves in the area!

Boathouse on the Bay is one of my favorite Sister Bay dinner spots! The peel and eat shrimp and !!! The old bay, butter and lemon seasoning and perfect with the huge shrimp. Love the cocktail sauce too- tons of horseradish. I had the lobster roll for dinner and it was overflowing with lobster! The buttery roll was so tasty and the cold lobster had just the right amount of Mayo so it was light and refreshing. The lemon on top made it so delicious! Our server was awesome accommodating for our party of 7 and made sure all of our food and drink came out on time! Super friendly and awesome pace. Loved sitting inside since it was so hot out but the balconies would have been awesome to sit at with its amazing view of the Sister Bay marina- so pretty at sunset. Always a favorite:)

Our first meal in Door County was here. I had the blacked white fish. It was good. The mashed potatoes were delicious. The green beans had zero seasoning. Bloody Mary was not good. The side car of spotted cow was better. My kiddo had a hamburger and fries. She ate half. She usually will eat an entire burger. My aunt and cousin split the rib eye. They said it was okay. My cousin had a cherry margarita and left it on the table she said it was awful.

Wow, this was an incredible meal! And a gorgeous view to go with it, from the top balcony. Our waitress was so nice and it made the experience extra fun since she was joking around with the table. I had a virgin Bloody Mary that was so good, I barely missed the vodka! Another drink at the table was the cherry mule, which was just raved about. For food, I split the lobster roll with Mac and cheese, and it was one of the best meals I've had in door county. We also tried the onion rings and cheese curds to start and both were just really top tier. I will be back the next time I'm in the door!

Such a great time! The sunset was beautiful!! We will come again! The Baby Back Ribs were fantastic! Beer was very cold!

It was good I had a shrimp basket and hubby had the blackened whitefish. The sunset view was great!

We had a great dinner here. We showed up late after a drive from Milwaukee and got there are pins 8:35. They closed at 9 and had no issue getting us seated. The patio is dog friendly and the service was great. We all ordered the whitefish and it was excellent. Flaky and super fresh, cooked perfectly. The side dishes it came with came up flat but were fine. The whitefish chowder was outstanding. Definitely a nice spot to check out. Wish it was open later!

This is the first time that my friends and I visited the Boathouse on the Bay and it was absolutely delicious! We were lucky enough to get a table outside so we can enjoy the view of the water and the boats coming in. We also had a great waitress named Maddie who did a fabulous job taking all of our orders. The food that was ordered ranged from hamburgers to salads with shrimp and a huge amount of lobster. My friend Lisa and I split the whitefish Poboy and the lobster roll. Absolutely to die for! This is definitely on our list of places to revisit the next time we're there!!

This restaurant really does have the best lobster roll!! And it is worth the money. The roll is loaded with lobster and it isn't over seasoned or heavy so you really taste the lobster, real lobster! I love this place. Always a great atmosphere and service with a water view. The onions rings were standard, I would get the fries instead. If you're in the mood to treat yourself, go here. I also got a couple glasses of wine on special. I had the shrimp Bo~boy another time. Huge, loaded with perfectly fried shrimp and yummy sauce. Just delicious!!

We stopped for drinks one day, the bartendar & the patrons were friendly. We went back for the fish fry and it was really good all around. I had the blackend catfish nicely done and the vegtables were delicious. My husband had the atlantic salomon and really enjoyed the dill melody. My mom had the blackened door co whitefish and also was quite happy with the fish & was happy with the vegtables. Nice veiws, clean place and fun nautical themed.

Not at all a Maine Lobster Roll, more of a Lobster salad with o ions, mayo and celery, on a hard bun. Also, had the Calamari on menu it said 'rings' however full of tentacles. Bartender tried to make things right, however I didn't want to wait any longer.

The food was delicious. The waiters seemed aloof. The Ambiance was perfect for Door County.

Walk the Plank Burger with sweet potato fries & Lobster Mac were both really good! We enjoyed and will be back in summer! Service was good and plenty of seating! Good view of the Bay at sunset!

The food was amazing for all four of us ( salmon and tuna). The service was amazing and the ambiance atmosphere was very welcoming and enjoyable.

Recommended by folks that live in Door County. We sat up high overlooking the water under a canopy on a warm day. Perfect. Started with drinks, and calamari that was excellent. She had the lobster roll, and I had the whitefish with a side of the best chowder. Excellent. Helpful staff, Quinn was great to chat with about local events and locations. He recommended some great things to do. Go at an off time, gets really busy.

Their fish and chips are good. Service not bad. Great view of the water if sitting on the top deck.

The food here is always good and the view is absolutely to die for! I love how this place is decorated and have never had much of an issue with service but it has gotten more and more expensive

Food was best in all of door county! So fresh and so good. We walked in, got sat right away, beautiful view.

Walked in for a light appetizer around 3:30 or so, midday. Not crowded, got seated right away. However, it then took around 10 minutes for the waitress to come over with waters and menus. She was very sweet and took our order right away. The food was good! Calamari and peel and eat shrimp. And the waitress was very nice. It then took a long time to get the check taken care of. Food was good and location had a good view, but service was slow.

This was one of the only places we could find in the area that was open after 8pm. So...we drove from Baily's Harbor and got some drinks and a burger which we enjoyed a great deal. The location was perfect for an evening walk along the marina. A perfect end to a perfect day .

Desiring seafood, we dropped in here for lunch before heading back home. Overall, it's in the meh category for their prices. You're definitely paying for their prime location overlooking the bay across main drag Highway 42. Wife had a bowl of whitefish chowder for $9.50, which was oversalty, not hot, and mediocre in taste. I had a whitefish po' boy with fries which was actually quite good, but overpriced for $19. Server was friendly and attentive. A passable touristy type stop, but also a one and done for us.

The food is good. Service spotty. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Outdoor seating is available. The view is spectacular especially at sunset. Get there early for immediate seating or plan on waiting.

Struggles to find a restaurant open on Wednesday night. Took a chance on this one and sure glad we did. Hubby loved his burger and having spent many summers in Maine, the lobster roll sandwich was as good as those I get in Maine with a real hot dog roll. A little pricey for the lobster roll but worth it. Great experience. Recommend.

Visit here every time we are in Sister Bay. Great place to hang and look out at sunset.. or catch lunch with a view. Nice selection of of fish for dinner- I ordered blackened whitefish. It wasn't the absolute best- but I enjoyed my meal. Other items ordered: burger and brats... 'cause why not? You are in Wisconsin. Everyone liked their meal. For me- drinks were very reasonably priced.... As I drink Tito's... I was rather pleased with sitting and drinking here for the day/ night. Friendly service. Lots of people sitting at the bar.... And as always, great views of the bay.

Definitely great food - we had a lobster roll and a po boy with lake perch. Fabulous view of the water from their second floor outdoor deck space! Service was so so. Place seemed a bit tired, but it was yummy regardless

This place has an awesome view of the boat harbor. The BLOODY MARY'S are good and come with a jumbo shrimp and a few other garnishes. The menu is mostly seafood but they have a nice PLAIN OL' CHICKEN SANDWICH which was tasty. Their BOATHOUSE SHRIMP BASKET basket was delicious! The shrimp was lightly breaded which is perfect for anything deep fried with breading. The service is caring.

Great menu with plenty of options. We tried the lobster mac & cheese and catfish- both were very good. Generous portions that we polished off completely. The drinks were really good too- my husband had the pain-killer which had a great tropical taste and I had the refreshing cucumber watermelon mojito. There was about a 45 minute wait for dinner and nowhere to sit while you wait, so that was a bit of a bummer, but we were able to get outdoor seats overlooking the bay. Our server was friendly and attentive.

The view of sister bay is amazing. We came at sunset and we're seated on the front porch area. Our server was friendly and prompt and the hostess was very nice too. I tried the lobster roll and it was pretty good. It's really a large portion, so much is packed in that i actually lost some of it while trying to eat it. Definitely don't order this dish if you're on a first date

Enjoyed the lobster roll and shrimp basket we had for dinner. The lobster roll was huge and had great seasoning. One size of cole slaw was ok, fries very good and the side salad outstanding. The salad included numerous vegetables and was super fresh
