We had a gift from our daughter to stay at the woodland suite last weekend for two nights. We rang on Thursday evening to verify a few things and Jess gave us so much of her time to explain what would lie ahead for us, yet she didn’t give all of the golden nuggets of information away-a real professional (thanks Jess). Checking in was so smoothly handled, being greeted by door staff with a great big welcome, and thereafter by Irene who completed our check in with such enthusiasm. From there on, it was 💯 perfect in so many ways, with Juan/other management making sure of it. Our buggy drivers welcomed us on every trip back and forth to the hotel which, btw, had the best weekend movies showing, nightly live bands and a great pianist playing in the background as we ate some tasty meals there in the panorama restaurant, followed by drinks in the glasshouse where Brian was so attentive to our needs. Breakfast and cocktail hour was served in the most comfortable clubhouse and the staff there were just “exceptional” and so accommodating, always greeting us with a smile. The woodland area and the suite itself is a must to experience! No words are descriptive enough to relay how wonderful it is! People will have to see this gem for themselves! It is mostly certainly a place where all “the boxes were ticked” for us, a place to return to for sure. Thank you to every member of staff who made it so fabulous…. And it all began with a gift from our most amazing, fantastic and kindest daughter ever!

Lovely 4 star hotel with really stunning gardens and a great view over Cork city. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant followed by cocktails and live music in the Glasshouse which was sublime. We recovered the following morning in the gym/pool which is good as hotel gyms go. We had a standard room which was comfortable but the bathroom was a bit on the small side and the wardrobe space was minuscule with too few hangers. What The Montenotte does best though is customer service. All the staff were well presented, attentive and super engaging, nothing was too much and you felt comfortable asking for what you needed when you needed it. It’s really obvious that management here have invested in staff training and motivation as they are all excellent communicators and all very friendly. There is none of the starchiness you get in some hotels, especially 5 star ones, just a genuine and friendly welcome. Great resort hotel with a buzzy atmosphere and I highly recommend.

When we arrived there were so many people and no parking spots left due to an event, so we had to leave the car parked to the side. We tried to book a table for dinner in their restaurant and there was no more availability. The spa area is nice, not many people at 6pm. They have a very well equipped gym compared to what is offered in other hotels. The breakfast is nice, great view and garden. Nice sculptures in the garden, I picked a tasty pear to munch on. 🤣😅 The bar area could do better with some improvements. Good tips for the owner😉: People tend to order more drinks when they have nice sides to go along with. There were not much bites offered which makes it hard to drink hard spirits, but maybe we were hungry since we skipped dinner. In our room there was an issue with some noise that seemed to come from the lower floor. The entire hotel is like a maze, you might get lost at first. They have a cinema which would be great to utilize while being here.

Absolutely the best experience we have had in any hotel. The woodland experience is truly magical. The attention to detail, the service everything is amazing. I proposed in the garden and my girlfriend was lost for words. The hotel really out done themselves. Everything went perfect, the staff really need to be complemented, the level of service was really amazing. I could not rate any hotel better. They spoiled us like royalty and made the whole experience perfect. From the private check to the buggy driving us to our suite. The club house cocktails and breakfast was next to none. The food and the chefs were next level. If we ever come back to cork there is only one place we would stay.

My stay at The Montenotte Hotel in Cork was absolutely exceptional! The service was warm, professional, and attentive from start to finish. The rooms were modern, spotless, and offered stunning views of the city. I loved the restaurant — the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of local flavor. The spa was pure relaxation, and the swimming pool was clean and inviting. The gym had top-quality equipment and a great atmosphere. Every detail felt luxurious yet welcoming. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cork — a perfect blend of comfort, style, and first-class hospitality !

Great stay as a Hilton diamond. Breakfast was free every day and included a massive buffet and ala carte options. Parking was free, though getting to the hotel from the south side of the city was a bit harrowing due to the narrow streets and steep hills. Ken gave us a warm welcome and everyone was so nice and helpful. Movie theater is a cool free feature for guests. Terrace has amazing views. Sauna was excellent and hot tub and steam room were good. Bit of a walk into town, with some serious hills, but those hills provide the excellent view so can't really complain about them too much. Bathroom was fine, but I much prefer a separate shower and the tub was quite slippery.

Stayed in the Montenotte hotel on the 8th Novemebr 2025 went to the Spa that morning myself and my partner absolutely loved it. The staff couldn't be nicer felt so relaxed afterwards. Had lunch in the afternoon and dinner that evening. The food was top notch there duck salad and fillet steak was the nicest I have ever tasted. Will definitely be going there again they do a great Spa package including lunch. Will be great to go with friends. Have to say the staff couldn't do enough for us

Google
Honestly, the best most sincere welcome in a hotel ever from Ken at the door. The hotel was just spectacular in every way. The bar area and gardens were exquisite and what a view!!! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which had everything we needed to cook our own meals. The layout was great for a family of 4 however I would have liked a larger bed in the master bedroom. The only thing missing in the whole apartment was a mirror beside a plug socket for styling hair...I had to wing it without a mirror which meant I had a questionable hair style for the duration of our stay! The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were fabulous. We walked and bused it into city centre, bus is 5 min walk away or city centre is a 20 min walk. My advice, walk in and bus it back as its a steep climb up to the hotel. Get train to Cobh for an afternoon out or drive to Kinsale 40 mins away, it's beautiful! We hope to return to this little gem of a hotel in the future. Thanks so much Montenotte Hoyel!

Yelp
We are in Ireland for a nice long trip. The trip of a lifetime! The grounds of the hotel are very perfectly located on top of a hill, so you can get those great photographic moments. The rooms are nice, the staff is amazing. The hotel food was very amazing. The breakfast was very good too. My only gripe would be that the shower head probably needed replacing a year ago, but it's nothing that wouldn't happen anywhere. Overall, this is an amazing location to spend a few days

Yelp
I stopped by The Montenotte Hotel in Cork to meet a friend, and I had a coffee while waiting. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere, and I enjoyed the relaxed setting. While I didn't stay long, the coffee was great, and the service was prompt and attentive. It's a nice spot to visit for a coffee or a catch-up with friends, and I'd definitely consider returning for a longer visit next time.

Yelp
The hotel is stylish and the staff was friendly. Amazing views from the restaurant and garden out back which no one was using so it felt like your own private yard. Parking was tight but not really a problem. No A/C and it was hot when we traveled there so it was tough to sleep. It's also not walkable to anything so you'll need a car or take taxi/ride share everywhere.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this hotel! We ended up not leaving and going out on the town because it was raining and this hotel had everything we needed! I was really glad that I had booked a reservation at the restaurant in advance because they were completely booked for the night. We were checked in quickly and our hotel room was beautiful and comfortable. There was even a welcome note, some chocolates, tea and waters, which were greatly appreciated. The restaurant was stunning and the view from our dinner table was so beautiful as well. We were greeted and served immediately, and enjoyed some fabulous cocktails while we waited for our filet mignons. We met a nice couple who was sitting next to us and chatted with them throughout the entire dinner, so even the patrons of this hotel are nice! The food was incredible and so was the gelato dessert. We spent the rest of the night having drinks at their beautiful cocktail lounge, which had a live jazz band playing for most of the night. We also enjoyed their sculpture garden, which was very fun to look at since my husband and I love art. After some nice cocktails and a walk in the garden, I took a hot bath in their luxury bathrooms and had one of the best nights on my trip to Ireland full of fun and relaxation. I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time that I am in town. Every staff member from the hotel check in, to the restaurant to the bar were so nice and accommodating. They really made me feel welcome and comfortable. I've heard people around Ireland call this place the Monte-snottie, which could not be further from the truth. Everyone was very sweet and lovely.

Yelp
This hotel is the epitome of amazing service! From the moment we walked through the door they were extremely accommodating and the rooms were clean and beautiful! We had a view of the entire city of Cork in our room. The dinner was amazing, one of the best steaks I've had. The cheese board was exquisite, one of the best Brie cheeses I've ever had. We also got the dessert as pictured. The gym was very large for being a hotel gym with a lot of cardio equipment and weight lifting machines. My favorite part, though it's hard to pick just one, is the breakfast! They make you hand crafted coffee drinks in the morning and they're DELICIOUS! They by far have the most options for a breakfast buffet! They had a huge platter of REAL honeycomb you could scoop to put on your breakfast. Truly a high class place! The staff helped carry our bags to our rooms for us and helped carry them down to our cars once we checked out. It's the little things like that that make a huge difference. One of the best places I've stayed at during my trip to Ireland!

Yelp
We had a group of 9 stay this weekend. They were very accommodating about checking in at different times and making us feel welcome right away. I feel so terrible that I didn't catch his name but we dealt with one member of the concierge in particular that really made our experience memorable. He was incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home (he had two inner ear piercings if someone at the Montenotte can get this message to him!). The vibe is very unique without trying too hard. There are trendy/quirky pieces throughout the building. The rooms are clean and modern and they even have cell phones you can borrow while you're at the hotel so you don't have to worry about roaming charges exploring the city! Our room didn't have a fridge but it was no problem to call down and have one brought up. The location is slightly out of the city center but it's an easy cab ride or walk if you want to stretch your legs. They do have a gym/leisure club that has decent equipment and weights. There is an indoor pool but you need to wear a swim cap (available at the gym desk). My only downside is that room service food isn't available late as all the other food options in the city shut down by 10-10:30. The concierge did help us order a pizza from a local pizza place but but the pizza was terrible - we would have loved to order from the hotel. They are also currently doing some construction so some of the hallways are closed. Not a huge deal.

Yelp
Pros: + Great view from many parts of the hotel. + Gorgeous sunken Victorian garden. + Friendly staff + Amenities in the apartment rooms were well above average - they include a fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer (!), microwave, oven, range, range hood, and are fully furnished with pots, pans, plates, etc. - Beautiful furnishings including LED recessed lighting with dimmers. - Well appointed restroom and shower. Great water pressure. Cons: - Our toilet had a broken seat upon check in - I informed the staff but they did not fix it during the two days of our stay. - The access road can be extremely tight if you approach from the east (Lovers Walk) - approach from the west instead especially if you are not a veteran Irish driver. - No air conditioning (typical of Irish hotels I think) so it can get very stale with the windows closed or very cold with the windows open and difficult to modulate temperature. - Bed choices were lacking - a double bed was not quite big enough for we two tall people and I was more comfortable sleeping on the couch. - Our outer door had a very loud "squeak" caused by the metal door closer in the doorframe rubbing against the door. The door had noticeable damage from this impact, so it's surprising maintenance never came to fix it. - Housekeeping never came to make up our room. Not sure if this is expected for the "apartment" rooms. - The room did not have a "do not disturb" sign.

Yelp
It's a bit off the beaten track for visiting Cork, but if you're interested in staying in a nice big hotel with lovely views of the city from the hills above it, this is a great place. The rooms were lovely, the wireless (for a small charge) was strong, and the bathroom was spacious. For those like me who can't go on vacation without also hitting the gym (it justifies all the drinking, dontcha know), there's a full fitness center with pool attached to the hotel, including a pool. The staff was helpful and courteous, and there was a charming pub and small church within walking distance if you want to go out for a pint or a prayer but not all the way into the city. Bottom Line:AND by sheer co-inky-dink it was in the same neighborhood I stayed in 21 years ago and I kept seeing things that tugged at my memories. So, I guess you could say...I've already been back...

Yelp
Stayed in the Montenotte in early February 2011 and I have to say that I was fairly impressed. It's not the most central hotel in the world, but a 15 minute walk brings you to Patrick Street and all the glory of Cork City. The rooms are decent enough - seemingly lots of business travellers use the hotel so they are a wee bit corporate for my taste (i.e. not the most luxurious) but grand for the occasion. The food was good, the bar is lovely and the staff were more than helpful! The one criticism I had was that on the Saturday evening we popped down to the pool for a relaxing swim only to realise that the public could pay for use of the pool - not a bad thing in itself, heck every hotel has to make money... although the bunch of hooligans drinking in the jacuzzi wasn't to everybody's taste!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel- we had two issues. #1 the hotel is about a mile straight down hill to town so you're walking a mile straight up-hill or paying for a cab to get home. Also, there's was no air conditioning which made for an uncomfortable night, you may be able to request a fan (we didn't ask). The view is amazing from the panoramic bar, however the service was not great. Not sure if we would stay here again.

Yelp
We've stayed here a couple of times and will definitely be back again. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking Cork city and is finished to the highest standard, rooms are clean and spacious and the beds super comfortable! But I think the best thing about the stay were the wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff. The could not have been more helpful, always smiling and ready to answer 'yes' to any request. They really made our trip that extra bit special. On top of that Cork is a great city, we'll be back for sure, and soon I hope

Virginia M.

Yelp
We had a girls night at the movies here. The setting was beautiful and the drinks and food were great. The movie room was lively with plush chairs, popcorn and blankets. The only reason for less than five stars was bad parking situation and not very attentive service. I would go again in a minute.

Yelp
I have stopped here once on a mad dash around ROI with work arriving at 10.30pm to a warm welcome and a smile, thanks. This hotel has joined the Best Western group of independant hotels so standards will always be good. My room was large and well decorated though it was a bit of a trek from reception as the hotel is long and thin. Check the hotels own web site for pool/gym etc as I never got to see any of the hotel really. staying only 1 night I left after breakfast which was good but let down by cheap sausages. All in all a nice hotel and happily use it as my base on future trips to the Cork area. X = You've gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they're doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

Yelp
Overall very nice place - clean, kind staff, and good shower. Place is a little but of a hike (uphill) from the city, so not an ideal location for walking home. Pillows suck (is that an Irish thing?) But some nice views from the bar and the deck.

T M.

Yelp
I had faith in this Best Western branded hotel; however, upon my 6:45 p.m. arrival in July 2013 I was notified that my confirmed internet reservation was not going to be honored, my room was gone and that they had booked me into a "comparable" room at another hotel. In fact, the "comparable" hotel had no air conditioning! This when Ireland's worst heat wave in eight years was pushing temperatures way into the 80's. We had to open the windows to allow some cool night air into the hot room. The open windows in this "comparable" room allowed the noise from the hotel's wedding reception celebrants into the room until late into the night. The open windows in the "comparable" room also meant we were awakened in the morning by those leaving early from the hotel's parking lot. We experienced slamming car doors from start to finish! Upon discussion with Cork locals about this Best Western Montenotte's inability to hold our confirmed reservation, I was informed that this is apparently a recurring practice of the Best Western Montenotte Hotel. We also heard that the owners of the Montenotte have a business interest in the hotel in which we were re-booked. If true, their business plan apparently is to intentionally overbook the Montenotte and then re-book people to their other "comparable" hotel. DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION AND EXPECT IT TO BE HONORED AT THIS PLACE! Also, I wrote a complaint to Best Western's International Operations VP and David Kong, the Best Western President and CEO, and never heard back! So don't expect any cooperation from the Best Western brand either.
